Oh my, this is just horrendous. And after a whole month, still no news.
It makes me think people (the company?) are dragging their feet for a reason. Because I think they fear the outcome.

But seriously, wherever the shredder metal ends up at the other end of the machine or onward for recycling into other metal products, wouldn't that product be covered in ...bone fragments? Entrails?

There is a lot of blood in the human body. If he went in the machine, that all had to go somewhere......

MOO.

I didn't find any MSM updates on Duncan, and as we've discussed, the lack of any official updates is strange. I'm assuming he is still missing?

AFAIK, there have been no reported sightings and no contact with Duncan since 4 May, 2022. At the time he was last seen, he was working the night shift at Industrial Recovery and Recycling. From what we officially know, there are two main possibilities:

- He never left Industrial Recovery and Recycling
- He somehow left Industrial Recovery and Recycling undetected and went missing later

If he never left work, then the scenario of falling into a metal-shredding machine is a possibility. There are vague and unconfirmed reports about this possibility, but nothing official at this time AFAIK.

If he did leave work, either during or at the end of his shift, then someone would likely have seen Duncan, or at least his cell phone and debit card would likely have been used by now.

I would expect most of the entrances/exits of Industrial Recovery and Recycling would have CCTV, so it seems there should be a record of him leaving the facility, alone or with another person. I do not recall whether he has a vehicle, and, if so, whether it was found in the parking lot.

If he fell into this metal-shredding machine, then there should have been some notable traces (blood, smell, etc.).

The lack of official updates makes this a difficult case to follow, inviting all kinds of speculation.

Coroner Rusty Clevenger said Monday that his "office has been given information that warrants an investigation, but I do not have a body as is the usual mode we are accustomed to."

Clevenger said without a body or more evidence he cannot call this a death investigation.

The Spartanburg County Coroner confirmed Tuesday afternoon that human remains on a conveyor belt found after a 20-year-old man went missing match the DNA of his parents.

Coroner Rusty Cleavenger said his office has hired a forensic anthropologist to further investigate. Cleavenger said it’s still a missing person’s case.

Duncan Alexander Burrell Gordon had not been seen since the early morning hours of May 5 as he worked the night shift at Industrial Recycling and Recovery in Greer. He was atop a shredder, the start of a process to recycle plastic-based material.

On its YouTube channel, Arctic Fox True Crime reported a substance that looked like ground up flesh was found, but the machine was not tested.

It was also used for two days after the disappearance, Thomas McCauley of Arctic Fox said on the video.

A spokesman for the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office and the company owner could not be reached for comment.

Oh this is so horrific. I had really believed (hoped) Duncan had somehow left the facility without being caught on camera somehow. This is beyond understanding. Accidents happen, but I refuse to believe that there was not immediate evidence of such an accident occurring. Prayers for Duncan and those who love him.

Snipped from the same article:

Records from the Occupational Health and Safety Administration show one safety complaint against the company in 2017 involving refuse systems. A $500 fine was levied.

Could he have gotten hurt on the machine and then went to seek help and somehow wandered off due to shock and blood loss? I find it hard to believe he went into the machine and no one heard or saw anything, no matter that it was the night shift.

I would assume there would have been a visible blood trail if that were the case. I sliced my fingers open on a piece of metal when I was closing my storage unit and there was visible blood trail leading from the unit to the elevator. And those were non-life threatening injuries (that just required a visit to the local urgent care where I had to get a total of 16 stitches), so I can only imagine how much blood there would be from an accident with with an industrial metal shredder. MOO.

This is horrifying. Clearly this company needs to do some work on safety protocols. It seems that Duncan shouldn't have been working that machine solo. Sending positive vibes to his family during this hard time. I can't imagine what they have been through and are still going through now that they have these devastating answers.
