According to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, 27-year-old Dylan Robert Dukes wrote an 11-year-old girl over 60 love letters and gave her cards, gift cards, ornaments, pictures and “unwanted hugs” that made the victim feel uncomfortable.

Authorities stated before summer break, the Starr Elementary School teacher gave the child a personalized box with a letter for each day of the week for the summer.

Duke also recently joined the child’s church after realizing she would no longer be a student at the school.

The sheriff’s office said when detectives went to the school to survey Dukes’ classroom, they found many pictures of the child in his desk. They mentioned that these pictures were not sexual in any nature.

“My child has been handed love notes by an adult male countless times,” said the victim’s mother in court.

She said the 60 notes found were just since June.
