#RocksForFaye: Free community art event dedicated to keeping Faye Swetlik’s memory alive
[...]

The event will be held Feb. 21-23. On Feb. 20-21 from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., 70 after-school children will participate in cleaning and painting river rocks for Faye at Art Smart Academy.

Art Smart Academy is also inviting community members to help paint the thousands of rocks donated for the #RocksForFaye cause Feb. 21-23 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

[...]

A Facebook group, Rocks For Faye, was created on Valentine’s Day by friends of Faye’s family and has over 2,000 members, some as far away as Ireland. The idea of this group and the event was inspired by Faye’s love of collecting and painting rocks.

“Faye came to our studio several times to paint. She loved art and we are honored to host a location for a gathering of love to support her family,” said Katherine Fix, owner of Art Smart Academy.

Toys, stuffed animals to honor Faye Swetlik donated to Prisma Children's Hospital - ABC Columbia
... Despite the rain, memorials in her honor are still growing.

But this past weekend, family members took some of those toys and donated them to Prisma Health Children’s Hospital Midlands.

[...]

“We were very fortunate that the Swetlik family, during their very difficult time, was able to think about the children’s hospital and the children here. That was a very selfless thing to do,” said Christy Fink, Manager of Child Life and Special Programs at Prisma Children’s Hospital. “Faye’s grandmother and some family friends came by over the weekend and brought us some stuffed animals from the memorial, and we were super thankful to receive those and to be a small part of the grief process for this family.”

The hospital relies on donations to help kids going through a scary time.

[...]

The hospital gets lots of donations around the holiday season, but they do taper off during the summer. Right now, the hospital is in critical need of pajamas and underwear for school-aged kids, teenagers and adults.

“We have vetted the roommate,” Antley said. “There is no evidence at all he knew anything about it.”

[...]

“We were definitely going to that house,” Antley said. He declined to provide further details about the discovery of Taylor’s body but said he had no evidence that Taylor’s roommate witnessed the suicidal act.

Antley said that investigators are still cataloging the several hundred hours of video footage taken from dash cams, body cams, and surveillance cameras in the area. He confirmed that Taylor was seen on surveillance video appearing to take measures to further conceal his crime.

[...]

The video footage “solidifies Taylor’s involvement and him being the person who placed Faye there,” Antley said.
