Again, I continue to believe the S.C. State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is living up to the words of its chief, Mark Keel – who has repeatedly vowed to pursue justice in this case “no matter where the facts lead us.” Similarly, I continue to trust the office of S.C. attorney general Alan Wilson when it comes to handling any charges raised during the pursuit of this inquiry – which Wilson’s office did in the aftermath of a fatal 2019 boat crash that thrust the Murdaugh family into the statewide limelight nearly three years ago.

Certainly, there have been some credible criticisms of the way the state has conducted this process … and the proof of its investigative, prosecutorial and judicial integrity must continue to manifest itself in the proverbial pudding. But as of this writing, I have seen nothing to suggest federal involvement in this case is warranted due to any malfeasance or incompetence on the part of any state actors.

Is it warranted? Yes. But it’s a bandwidth thing … not because of anything the state has done wrong. And federal involvement must not compromise the integrity of the current investigations.

Sadly, the entrance of the feds into this case – which I have consistently supported – has been steeped in scandal owing to a nefarious bid by Murdaugh defense attorney Dick Harpootlian to negotiate a backdoor plea agreement for his client.

SCMurdaugh Murders: Judge To Hear Motions On Freezing Alex And Buster’s Assets This Week

The hearing will be held at noon Friday at the Chesterfield County Courthouse, which is about three hours northeast of Hampton, South Carolina.

Other financial moves by the Murdaugh family mentioned in the motion include:

Alex/ Buster recently listed his $115,000 boat for sale.
Buster “acted as Alex Murdaugh’s agent and executed a satisfaction of a mortgage with a face value of $970,354.00 on a 42 acre property located in Hampton and Colleton Counties.
Alex Murdaugh’s share in a hunting club called Green Swamp in Jasper County sold on Oct. 1.
The family’s home on Edisto Island is recently vacant and will be auctioned if back taxes aren’t paid.

In the motion, Tinsley asks the court to appoint two outside parties — attorney John T. Lay Jr. and former U.S. attorney Peter M. McCoy Jr. — to have control over Alex and Buster Murdaugh’s assets, which is known as “receivership” in the court. This would give Lay and McCoy broad powers to not only lock up Alex and Buster Murdaugh’s assets, but to sue for the recovery of their assets as well.

“We hope that this will stop some of the wasting of assets that appears to be occurring and will begin the process of figuring out what has happened to date,” Tinsley told FITSNews.

The motion was filed two days after FITSNews founding editor Will Folks exclusively reported that Buster Murdaugh was spotted gambling at the blackjack table in Las Vegas just hours after his father was denied bond in a Columbia, South Carolina courtroom.

Buster’s Vegas vacation was mentioned in Tinsley’s motion, among other suspicious financial moves made by the Murdaugh family recently. On September 15, Alex Murdaugh granted his power of attorney to his son Buster Murdaugh.

According to Tinsley’s motion, Buster was immediately granted “broad powers“ to perform all and every act and thing whatsoever”, including “to sell, assign, convey, pledge, mortgage and encumber… and generally manage, any and all property, both real and personal which [Alex Murdaugh] may own or acquire in the future from any source.”

Attorneys Dick Harpootlian and Jim Griffin — who are currently representing Alex — were hired to defend Paul Murdaugh in the boat crash in either in March or April 2019, which would be soon after he transferred a large amount of the settlement money to his own account, according to prosecutors.

Bland said the receivers will be able to find out whether or not Griffin and Harpootlian were paid in fees from the Satterfield settlement.

911 call from a citizens on Salkahathie Rd:

And Alex's 911 calls:

What strikes me most about AM’s calls is how calm he is. After an injury like a GSW — even thinking you’d been shot — most people would get an adrenaline rush that would cause them to jabber on nervously, or their voice would sound shakey. Not the case here. Of course the vagueness of his answers that don’t exactly fit together like puzzle pieces is also reason to question his statements. OMO.

I think we have have wondered who the good Samaritans were. Sounds like he honestly didn’t know them, and also that they went back to check the name of church before they took him away.

Another thing — I think if I had been shot or was bloody because I had a self-inflicted head wound, I would be in some discomfort and also be trying to apply pressure to my wound or cover the area so as not to bleed on the car seat. Doubt I would have called 911 myself with my hands occupied, but asked my Samaritans to call.

Lots to question with the 911 conversations. MOO.

Of course, I wish we didn’t have to chew over all the details of these side cases to keep our minds occupied. Why aren’t we hearing any progress on the double murder of MM and PM? Please, Feds, don’t give AM a plea bargain!

Murdaugh's latest charges missing from public court index | ABC News, 23 Oct 2021

Alex Murdaugh's newest charges are missing from the public court index.

As of 10:30 a.m. Saturday, records were not present on Hampton County's index, where the charges originated, or on Richland County's, where Murdaugh faced a bond court judge earlier in the week.

The charges were related to the suspended lawyer allegedly stealing over $3 million from the sons of Gloria Satterfield, the family housekeeper who died on Murdaugh's property. He was arrested over one week ago.

This is not the first time charges for Murdaugh have disappeared from online records. In September, charges related to Murdaugh's assisted suicide attempt and insurance fraud scheme were briefly missing from South Carolina's court case index. …

After all AM has been doing with money that is against the law, I hope BM has been paying attention and learns what not to do. BM has a big job in taking on Power of Attorney for AM. I just hope he doesn’t mess up or listen to his father and find himself in line behind dad with the law. MOO

Sitting at a blackjack table in LV while your dad / brother is denied bail and detained in jail is bizarre at best. Gambling. Being AWOL while a family member faces court alone. The optics are horrible. Not to mention throwing away money in a casino in light of AM's fraud charges of stealing GS's family settlement! OR just spitballin' here - could the casino junket be cover for the real, very different visit to NV?

Do BM's POA powers also include taking over the alleged drug running empire that Boulware bequeathed to his dad? So many questions!

Alex Murdaugh and/or Buster Murdaugh own a home on Edisto Beach and failed to pay $6,000 in property taxes for 2020, which are now considered delinquent. Also, more than $7,000 in outstanding property taxes are owed for 2021 on the Edisto Beach 4. The mortgage contract states that the principal may be up to 150% of the face value, or $1,455,531.00. Alex Murdaugh was the lender and J.M. Boulware was the borrower. The amount of the mortgage balance that was satisfied and paid to Alex Murdaugh in connection with the September 23, 2021 mortgage satisfaction is not known. Upon information and belief, this home is vacant and, if the back taxes are not paid by December 10, will be auctioned.

Motion for temporary injunction filed that names Alex Murdaugh, son Buster, lawsuit shows

....

Edisto home was also Boulware property?

I wonder if their assets get frozen, will AM lose his high powered attorneys at some point or will they go pro bono? I think the monies just received went to the lawyers. They have a lot of work ahead of them. People will need to be paid. Just some thoughts.
