The firm had won $5 million the year before from CSX in five different lawsuits.
In the end, I wonder just how much money the firm was truly taking in?

Though the firm's turning the county's judicial system into a firm friendly lawsuit machine, winning 5 million does not mean that 5 million was ever collected.

Jury verdicts (winnings) are easy to get- and are near automatically appealed by cooperate targets. My guess is that the appellate courts in SC are not so firm friendly as the local machine judges. Thus, smaller settlements the norm.

For example, CSX appealed one million plus award and then settled 300K instead of the standard 100K. Still a substantial victory for the firm- but not matching their advertised jack pot level wins.

Though the firm advertises a continuing series of jackpot level verdicts, amounts actually being taken could be far smaller.

Smaller take in amounts could also mean that even relatively smaller embezzlements could really impact operating expenses and the ability to get new clients. Likewise, if there is not alot of loot to share to begin with, partners can get angry fast.

Saw the story in the NYT today. Naturally, came here.
Can someone provide a thumbnail sketch timeline of the scenario?
Thx.
I just found a pretty extensive timeline in MSM:

Sept. 6, 2021: Alex Murdaugh releases a statement that says, in part, he is resigning from his law firm and entering rehab.

Unexpected or not, I imagine she'd be upset about her husband being ill and being in the hospital.
It has been reported that grandmother had advanced Alzheimer's so we don't know if she would be processing her husband's cancer diagnosis, or recognize AM, or anyone else. The grandparents lived in Varnville. With their wealth it's possible that she was at home with full-time medical care, but if she was really advanced it's more likely that she was in a memory care facility, so trying to figure out mileage and timing on June 7 might be difficult.

Timeline ? Alex left the hospital at 9:30, roughly the same time the victims were shot, and called police 37 minutes later? The hospital must be roughly 30 minutes away. Other than arrive home, find the bodies, discover they were deceased and call 911, did he have time to do anything else?

Shot outside the residence makes it easier to clean up crime scene blood.

9-9:30 victims shot, Alex thought to be visiting father at hospital
10:07 Alex Murdaugh called 9-1-1 at 10:07 p.m. on June 7th, he returned to the family property on Moselle Road to find the bodies of his wife and son shot outside the residence.
10:28 sheriff’s office secured the scene and contacted SLED to request the investigate the double murder.
11:47 Lowcountry Regional agents arrived on the scene
12:07 Crime Scene agents worked throughout the morning of June 8th collecting evidence

Investigators release timeline of events in Murdaugh murder case

FYI you were asking about the kennel location earlier. The picture at the top of the article you link here shows it very well. It's to the left of the red roofed building.

It the entire timeline that @MoeInVA posted, LE never once suggested that they were looking for suspects. The tip line is there but all of the case info has came from this family, along with reward offers. The “no threat” comment and the lack of suspect concern in the latest shooting is very telling if we think about it.

Thank you for the info in where AM's parents reside. I'm looking it up that it is approximately 12 minutes ride from Varnville to Islandton, where Moselle property is located. So backtracking, if AM called 911 immediately upon finding the victims He left his Mom's home sometime right before 10pm. Guessing anywhere between 9:45-9:55 pm.

This is a very tight timeline when you then consider TOD is placed at 9-9:30pm. He could have missed being a victim by minutes.

Mr. Murdaugh’s lawyer, Jim Griffin, confirmed that Mr. Murdaugh had left the firm after being accused of misusing funds. Mr. Griffin said Mr. Murdaugh had been released from the hospital on Monday after his injury was determined to be not life-threatening and that he had immediately met with investigators from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, which is investigating the double-killing and the shooting of Mr. Murdaugh. Lawyer Shot After Wife and Son Were Killed Had Been Pushed Out of Law Firm

I can't see that he would be meeting with SLED (BBM) over the misappropriated funds unless they had the potential to be related to the killings of MM and PM, other murders under investigation? Does that point us toward murder as retaliation or blackmail? IDK. MOO.

As another op stated where is the BOLO?

Truck make?
Was it diesel?
Color?
# of ppl in truck?
Race of ppl?

These would be easy to see & remember.

His mom might be upset about Alex father's prognosis? At that time, everyone was still alive. Was the hospitalization and diagnosis of Randolph III unexpected?
If her husband had been taken from the home to be hospitalized I can surely see her being upset and off-balance. I'm sure it's why he decided to check on her. I'm trying to keep on open mind and heart.

Where is there info that he left his Mom's home at 9:45 -9:55pm? How do we know he didn't leave there at 8pm? And how do we know that he was ever at his Mom's house? I'm talking verified info, not from his bothers. Thanks! JMO.

To me this was the single major tip off from the onset. Ironically they set the stage for suspicion upon themselves by being mute. We didn’t see a spouse making public pleas to find the killers who murdered his wife and son.

*No threat
*No known enemies (not a smart analysis for a lawyer to claim. Lost all credibility on that statement).
*Silence

Add the opened investigations to the above, the spiraling out couldn’t be contained.
