I think the money was stolen from his firm and the solicitors’ office “volunteer” hours was a cover for access and to remain part of the “good old boys network” and all that may entail…

If I remember correctly he resigned and asked to be a "volunteer". I need to research that.

How can a through and through gunshot wound be superficial? That does not compute.
Especially a head wound.

Alex Murdaugh enters rehab amid allegations of missing money from SC law firm

Griffin said there were entry and exit wounds from the bullet, and he described the injury as significant. He said he suspects the incident was a set-up, and that the gunman slashed Murdaugh’s tire and then followed the lawyer until he pulled over.

“He’s very lucky to be alive,” Griffin said.

The Post and Courier requested a report on the incident from the Hampton County Sheriff’s Office, but officials said Sept. 7 that the document would not be ready for another two days.

No arrests have been made in that shooting, and neither SLED nor the Sheriff’s Office have released any descriptions of suspects or the vehicle from which the shots reportedly emanated.

Murdaugh met with SLED agents and a sketch artist after his release from the hospital on Sept. 6 to produce composites of the gunman and truck from the shooting, Griffin said. So far, no drawings have been released to the public. Griffin said neither Murdaugh nor SLED were satisfied with the accuracy of the sketch of the gunman.

SLED spokesman Tommy Crosby would not say if agents met with Murdaugh, and he said the agency had no information to release about the vehicle or its driver.
WHAT is going on!!??

Only if I was allowed to stick my finger through the holes would I believe this!

Wow! This is Crazzzzzy!!! Oh…and a 52 year old on Oxy’s! What?!?! Must be pretty hard to function at that age on that type of serious drug. Man oh man.

There are LOTS of people who are "high functioning" addicts, meaning that they take substantial quantities of intoxicating substances, and are still able to work, drive, etc. And this is particularly true of opiates, as long-term users build up tolerances to their effects. Probably you know some such people, without realizing that they are addicts. They are everywhere, spread throughout society.

I would too but they are really shortchanging this community by not telling them if they have killers among them or not. SLED has yet to mention any of this. Is there a shooter on the loose after Saturday?

Pretty standard. I’d expect any decent agency to keep their mouths shut, and limit information in a case like this.

In regards to updating your personal community I think they have been too quiet in comparison to what it would be if it wasn’t a high profile person.

There are no land based casinos in South Carolina, there are a few gambling 'boats' in the Myrtle Beach area. I don't know how feasible it would be for AM to have a huge gambling addiction.

JMO
Right now 30 states have legal gambling including racetracks. Gambling boats are just another term for a casino, such as those in New Orleans, Lake Charles, Myrtle Beach ect. We have no way to know if he made overnight trips on cases or not. You can drop a lot of money in a casino in a short amount of time. Remember casinos are not built on winners.

The more they talk, the more help they need. Their duty is to being this to a conclusion, and sharing information can only hurt that effort.

I want to know everything, but this is just how good investigations are handled.

There are junkets that fly out of Charleston all the time to Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Biloxi, etc...if he was a heavy gambler he could have qualified for private charter flights.

You've gotta' watch more Dr. Phil!
Eventually the brain deteriorates and it's all downhill from there.

A bookie is only a phone call away.

Edited to add: Think of all the other sorts of shady characters, who are only a phone call away. And think of all the help lines that are only a phone call away.

We create our own lives. We are in charge of our fates, largely, whether we wish to admit it, or not.

Snipped for focus

I disagree. An insurance company is not going to withhold payment for what? A pending investigation? I get this has made world news but that's not their business.

An entirely different team would be heading up fraud or any investigation.

They will pay in compliance and it's not based off of whether SLED thinks there may or may not be something strange going on
But it usually IS based on whether the beneficiary may have killed the insured.

It should be a safe assumption that someone who has killed 2 people could be a threat. It is very irresponsible, and I think we will hear this later, for these cops to be so vague with these citizens, and causing fear of the unknown because of someone’s high profile. This isn’t professional investigating at all. It’s a mess, a good ole boy mess that I’m sure we will know more about when this is over.

Im irritated over the lack of info to the community and I’m not a local. There have been zero updates in just the simplest of ways. ‘We are still working on the case and have confirmed there is no threat to the public. We will continue to update you as we gather new info’. Just a statement as opposed to total silence.
