Family pleads for help finding missing father on son’s first birthday

Zach's son had his first birthday on Tuesday, and it's an occasion that family members say Zach wouldn't have missed on purpose.

York County authorities said Patterson was last seen near a mobile home community on Lesslie Highway, and now family members have put up missing posters all around.

“We’ve been out putting signs up, we’ve been searching, going door to door,” Jimmi Adkins told Channel 9′s Tina Terry.

Adkins hasn’t been able to find her son-in-law since they last heard from him on May 9.

She said Tuesday that Zach’s son, Atlas, is celebrating his first birthday. It’s an occasion she says the 26-year-old father would never miss on purpose.

On Tuesday, the York County Sheriff’s Office said deputies have spent weeks searching for Patterson, talking to witnesses and even tracking his cell phone.

“We’re putting a case on a podcast tomorrow to try to generate more attention find out where Zachary might be. If anybody happens to know we’d like to hear from that person,” Faris (Deputy) said.

His last arrest in 2023 was for possession of cocaine (third offence). Case No. 2023A4610200834. His drug arrests go back to 2017. Possibly related case no. 2023A4610200759 0178-Drugs / Poss. of narc. in Schedule I(b),(c), LSD & Schedule II - 3rd or sub. offense. That case was last updated in January 2024 . If you look at case No. 2023A4610201042 under "Actions" it says a sentence was issued in January 2024, but no details other than (non probation). Bond amount was in the 5 figures. I'm assuming from what is available online in the court index that he's currently still out on bond.

If you look at the records to the county just south of where he lives he's got cases there as well (I believe they are related charges based on the charges and the dates) including one which under "actions" notes a warrant was issued in 2024. In Case No. 2022A1210100391 (0180-Drugs / Poss. of other controlled sub. Sched. I to V )for which he was given probation in 202 , an arrest warrant was served in January 2024.

YORK COUNTY, S.C. — More than three weeks ago, 26-year-old Zachary Thai Patterson of York, South Carolina was found dead in the Sharon community. But there are still questions about how he ended up there after being reported missing.

Detectives are asking anyone with insight to speak up. They specifically are trying to figure out Patterson's movements during the time he was missing and how or why he ended up in Sharon, roughly 29 miles west of Lesslie.
