He should have a sign over his desk - 'Lie down with dogs, get up with fleas'...

I recently watched one of those 'Locked up' programs, it showed the Maricopa jail and one of the prisoners was Angela Simpson. On the same landing were two other murderers, I don't remember their names, but in watching and listening to the staff it was obvious they are very accustomed to
dealing with sociopaths, murderers, manipulators and scammers, and don't cater to them at all,nor do they let themselves be suckered in to any of their scheming.
Not sure why that letter writer feels she has to warn them over and over what JA is capable of- it
was clear to me that they are expert at handling them....

I don't think it's a good idea to be so self-assured. Underestimate her at your own peril. It hurts absolutely nothing if you are more careful than necessary. She is not your everyday sociopath manipulator. And the staff at PV are just human beings, and they have weaknesses too. She has nothing to lose, nothing better to do, and will never give up.

Marking my spot.

Nurmi's attempt at damage control? The only way he can do that is to change his name and move to another state. This is his second tweet in three days. The tweets validate to me that he strongly dislikes the inmate. As for Willmott, she appears totally snowed over by the murderess.
I still think it was MDLR who got the killer's letter out. Willmott is still representing the killer for the restitution hearing, and MDLR is part of the team. Only Nurmi requested to withdraw.

I'm not sure a mitigation specialist is still part of the DT after the sentence. The mitigation specialist is especially for death penalty cases. There may also be rules regarding whether visitation is permitted at AZ prisons after the mitigation specialist has done her job.

I could never respect someone like nurmi. One of the very first things I taught my children was never ever lie. I told them no matter how horrible the thing is you have done, to lie about it would be worse. I believe a person can be against the DP and not be a liar. Nurmi’s whole defense was a lie. Everything he said was a lie. He brought in so many innocent people and told so many lies about them. I think nurmi is an embarrassment to the legal profession. If he were my son I would be ashamed of him.

I think they specify "attorney of record" in DOC's orders, so it's not even just any attorney. MDLR is out, and once the appeals attorney is appointed, JW too. FWIU

I remember reading awhile back that, after sentencing, the mitigation specialist is barred from seeing the prisoner for, I believe, 2 years.

Thanks. I believe JA's appeals attorney is already assigned and JW is only there for the restitution hearing, which is attached to guilt/sentencing phases. MDLR should have been gone on April 13. Makes one wonder how JA got that letter out, especially when she's not allowed paper and her visits are non-contact and she's strip-searched before and after visitation. I hope the PV warden knows about the letter.

That is interesting. I wonder why that is??

Regarding 2 year lapse for mitigation specialist after sentencing. I thought I'd read this, too, but couldn't remember if it only applied to departed prison guards and subsequent fraternizing with prisoners. The reason for this is ethics/manipulation/professional distance/potential abuse of power/probability of illegal activity. Not that MDLR was ever bound by ethical requirements.....

Very well said! Nurmi's tactics were despicable. Same goes for Willmott, imo. I will say, however, that with as broad as Nurmi's accusations about everyone but the killer were, there is little to no argument for ineffective counsel. He touched on every possible scenario, including that she was in the throes of PTSD and didn't remember the crime, that she acted in self-defense but months later at closing it was she had just snapped. Even that her intentions were in a macbre way honorable, as she thought she was doing the world a favor by killing TA.

Nope. No way that I can see for any appeals court to find Nurmi did not give it his ALL. And then some. I hate how he did it but at the same time am glad that he was thorough to the point of seriously messing up most, if not all, appeals issues Killer is sure to raise.

That's probably why Jodi hates him...... He left her no grounds for appeal.

Sheriff Joe's report on inmate 21whatever will be released next week.

She sure is not your normal sociopath. But DOC personnel that have been in the business for as long as some of the officials at PV are ready for these types. While each psychopath has their own modus operandi based on what has been proven to work in the past, prison officials are not usually surprised by any of it. They will know what to anticipate with this particular sociopath because Sheriff Joe has surely told them. And they have seen it all before, some even worse than this particular sociopath. I think it behooves them to be on their toes, to know what to expect but to also expect the unexpected. I just think that citizens writing letters that state the obvious are a waste of everyone's time.

If I were a prison official who received a letter like that I would take it personally that citizens thought I was naive enough to not already be familiar with Killer Arias's antics, shenanigans, and manipulative skills. I doubt a warden in a prison like Perryville is without training and that training would stress how to deal with an incarcerated sociopath, even one the likes of Killer Arias.

BBM--LOL

ZonaNpa, thank you very much for posting this info--where did you get wind of this btw TIA

Saw it on Twitter and watched the Kinsey Schofield/Troy Hayden live news feed ElleElle linked.

This report, I hope will close the book for me. To quote the Grateful Dead, "What a long strange strip it's been." Following this report, any time inmate 21whatever crosses my mind I will replace that thought with one of Travis and his family.

That letter of hers is such a load of effing bollocks.

Shut up, Arias. I never believed anything you said - and I still don't.

Prairie dogs. Seriously. Is she sitting in a forest glade, surrounded by interactive wildlife like a Disney Princess? I can't even with this nonsense....

Exactly! So Right, Gerard! Big ole Bollocks it is! So good to have you back! :seeya:
