Tomorrow I am decorating a little, putting up a tabletop tree and wrapping presents all while I listen to Christmas music. A compromise has been reached. Yes!!

That's so great!!!

:woohoo:

So sorry. I used to love Christmas, decorating, cooking but the hubs hates it. The fun and excitement are gone for me. I buy the presents, wrap them and hope everyone likes them and maybe I will get a thank you. Try having a birthday close to Christmas, it makes everyone mad.

Hi Kensie, I just now saw your post. Isn't it sad, that the fun and enjoyment have faded away. Christmas used to be such a joyful time for me. And I know what you mean. I actually still do the decorating, with little Christmas trees and twinkle lights in almost every room; greenery, candles, and Santas, and my collection of Snow Globes on the mantle. I play Christmas music most of the time when I'm at home, and sometimes in the car, (when I'm not listening to Dr. Laura, lol ). And my husband puts icicle lights on the front of the house and in the back by the lake, etc. It's all really pretty and I love that part of it. There's just something missing though that I can't put my finger on.

So what is it you think ? What's wrong, What is it that's changed ? I've gone over and over this in my mind for the past few years, and I'm still trying to figure it out.

That's great Kensie! And I love Christmas music ! :cheer:

Interesting, Mt. Vernon, Palestine and Jefferson. Well, I grew up about 30 miles from Palestine. In the middle of No Where, lol.

What a good older sister you have. I am unfortunately, the Middle Child. Notice the caps, :floorlaugh:. Well, I'm typical as far as that goes, I'm the most screwed up.... :floorlaugh:

Wow! Might be a small world. Mt. Vernon, Palestine and Jefferson..these are Texas towns close to me. neesaki...you don't have to say, but you grew up 30 miles from Palestine? Would that be in TX? I live 26 miles from Palestine now. If your Palestine is in TX we could have been neighbors!

What was the outcome of the hearing or do we not know? I was reading along Last night but fell asleep

I now think that the woman on twitter is in fact the same Casandra Collins. She has been tweeting nonstop all morning! :floorlaugh:

She has also inserted herself into the twitter conversation between CMJA and Troy Hayden.

Oh, and the Huz put together a CD for me with Christmas songs on it!! I can listen to them when I'm driving around running errands. :loveyou: Here's one of them:

A Boomer's History of the Holidays:

The holiday season has changed dramatically in 50 years. The biggest difference may be the merchandising phenomenon known as "Christmas creep," which has gradually moved up the first Christmas sales to October. Here's a look at some of the other changes that five decades have wrought:

Television Special -
1963: The Judy Garland Christmas Show
2013: Lady Gaga & the Moppets' Holiday Spectacular

Cost of mail-order fruitcake 2 lbs.:
1963: $4.25
2013: #27.95

Cost of mailing a Holiday card:
1963: 5 cents (!!!)
2013: 46 cents

Most popular toy:
1963: Easy-Bake Oven $15.95 (thought it would have been Barbie doll?)
2013: Big Hugs Elmo $59.99

Price of a Christmas tree:
1963: $2.50
2013: $45

I only paid $19.99 for mine... :christmastree:

Beautiful Niner. High of 36 here today. Baby, it is cold outside.

Up on me.

Hi, yes in '63 things were cheaper. You must remember in '60's things were lower but so were wages. My husband was a Supervisor and made about 6.25 an hour. when we married in '49 he made 1.25 hr..it wasnt easy as it seems. I worked for years at .75 an hour. I never worked when our son was born, something I do not regret. I spent my days at home raising him. I still have a .03 cent stamp also an airmail at .29 cents! ..just for kicks I saved the Sunday paper the day my grt.grandson was born.2000....its in a box in the attic... :loveyou:............P S. we paid 10,000. for our first house took 13 yrs. to save it. Two yrs. devoted to Uncle Sam.:floorlaugh:

Wrapped a few presents and got my tabletop tree up. My tree skirt I have had for 30 years finally rotted. Went to Publix and got my dogs a ham. That was my day.

Where is everyone? Awful lonely only me lurking about lmao
