Maybe people around the Nation don't realize that students from the Middle East have attended many of the different colleges here in Arizona since the late 60's early 70's. My parents went to the Middle East back in the 60's, and one of the camel handlers for the Pyramids invited them to his humble home for dinner. It was a neatly kept house with a well broomed dirt floor, with children playing happily in it's court yard. My parents made fast friend with them, and when the family immigrated to the US in the late 70's, my dad helped the man's son get settled in Phoenix while he studied International Finance. I got to know "Mo" while he studied, and spent time with him and his roommates drinking strong tea with loads of sugar cubes in tiny glasses, and at some of the yummiest food I've ever experienced. He prayed every day, I never thought it was strange, just different.
Many families from the Phoenix area moved to the middle East in the 70's through the Electric company (can't remember if it was SRP or APS) to help build and train people for National electrical service. The kids I knew who returned said it was an awesome experience. And no one complained about the heat, you're used to it living in Arizona.
The world would be pretty boring if we didn't have our individual differences.
