Hey all  Haven't read anything since I posted last this morning - feel kind of pooped... :o for some reason, so will read them when I log back on in the morning! :pcguru:

But did hear from my sister in Sweden; she gave my bro a call last night, and received her "novel" about 45 minutes ago. When she writes something, it's ALWAYS a novel...
Here is what she says and my comments in blue:

Hi everyone!
Richard left for work this morning at 5:00 and as he closed the door, our cat Tiger threw up. As I cleaned up the carpet, I thought, why not call Jr, it's 20:00 or 8:00 PM USA time and he might be feeling lonely.
He answered right away with his raspy voice and then said 'It's confusion here'. When I asked what the confusion was, he said the doctors still hadn't decided what to do and that he was willing to take whatever treatment or do whatever they said they could but hadn't done anything in the last 4-5 days. He sounded frustrated and angry. He said he had decided with Terre that if they didn't get around to doing something soon, he was leaving the hospital. he has a problem with his "anger", that's why he doesn't drink anymore-thank goodness-would start fights out of nowhere
It seems the 'anger' stage has set in after the 'shock' stage of hearing he has liver cancer. He said the results of his biopsy should be back tomorrow. Then he said , 'It probably is cancer'. I tried to explain to him that with all the hospitals I worked with on various Clinical trials, she worked for AstraZeneca in Sweden, now retired; she wanted to be a veterinarian like my dad, but things got complicated the doctors would normally meet only once a week with all the specialists included -- in his case the oncologist, the endrocrinologist, the surgeon and even a liver specialist to discuss the case from each specialist view and come up with a decision. I told him not to piss off the doctors, or they'd throw him out. do NOT want that to happen!!
Then he told me to hold on while he talked to someone. It was a nurse or assistant who said he was to go for a scan. Jr. said, 'I've already had one!' When he came back on the phone, I told him they might want to get another angle on the scan. And again, I told him not to take it out on the personnel. He said, 'Oh, they understand'.
Maybe that's why he hasn't been sent to the Cancer Center yet because they're trying to decide if they can even do something or not. If they cant', there would be no reason to send him there.
I realize this sounds depressing even as I read it through but we did say we'd keep each other informed. I tried to tell him to be patient and let the doctors do what they do.
I told him everyone was praying for him and he said 'Yeah, everyone's been saying that!' so maybe as Richard says, he doesn't believe praying will help. but still asking you guys for some!!
Again, sorry to write about a negative experience but we all know how he can get when he feels frustrated and can't seem to do anything about it.
Hopefully, we'll receive better news as the days go by. Love to you all -- Marik

so... I'll give him a call tomorrow and see if the biopsy reports are back and report back here!

Good night all!
Smiles and good thoughts, all!

:seeya:

Well, he's talking, but can't finish his sentences. Memory is shot. I can't even share old memories with him...I suspect (and hubby agrees) that he's had some brain damage due to loss of oxygen. Step-mother says he should be moving to skilled nursing facility today or tomorrow, but he still won't make it up here. The frustrating thing is that he needed a a special breathing machine that was only just approved by insurance. Had he gotten it two months ago, all of this could have been avoided!
Thanks for asking.

Oh, LinusK, I'm so sorry to hear that. The insurance part is infuriating! I don't know how those people live with themselves, knowing that their actuarial-based decisions lower the quality of life (and life expectancy) of other human beings.

I mentioned in a post a few weeks ago that I just recently had the chance to visit my mom after not being able to see her for a couple years. She hasn't had any real medical episodes per se, but it was plain to me that she is in a rapid state of decline, which includes lack of long- and short-term memory and an almost constant state of confusion. To me, she is obviously in the throes of early/mid stages of dementia.

It's so saddening and hard to reconcile those diminished capacities when it comes to someone whom you've known all your life to be strong and smart and capable...

Maybe MS wants us all to test Windows 10 and report all the kinks and bugs with Win10??!!

I use 7 and I like it :)

It's already been out there as beta for testers so there are reviews from people who have been using it.

Hi Dmacky, about Bruce///// boy are you ever right! Dont push him/her down our throats. Where is Chaz right now ? Who knows? Who shives a git? Not us.

I came across a post from our Princess today. She would of love the second trial. I'm sorry she didn't get the chance to be with us.

I went to half price books on Sunday and picked up an Ann Rule book. It's about Josh Powell. and how he was. I'm reading back over the threads to see what the websleuthers found about him back then. And his dad Stephen.

Looks like we will be forced to take the new Windows 10 (I'm already getting "alerts" on my computer to update) :sheesh:

:tantrum:

Windows 10 is coming, it's way better -- and free

Windows 10 To Be 'Last Version Of Windows'

Windows 10 Release Date Revealed: How To Upgrade For Free

"...when July comes around here’s what to do. The OS will be free to download for Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1 and Windows phone. Upgrading in the first year after release will be cost-free and this is likely to remain the case too – you’ll only be hit with a fee if you miss this one year window,..."

:gaah:

I'm still using windows 7 and I like it. I refused to update to 8. It seems like windows is trying to keep up with the kardashians iPhones. I read where they are already working on an iPhone 7.

June is Extra Sweet
If everything seemed sweeter this month, there’s good reason: June is National Candy Month

10 Fun and Weird Candy Facts

1. Candy became widely available only 130 years ago. Until then, people would make their own fudge or caramel at home.

2. Candy is a health scapegoat – 100 years ago, doctors blamed candy for the spread of polio. In the mid to late 20th century it was blamed for tooth decay. Now it is blamed for obesity.

3. Candy accounts for only 6% of the added sugar in the American diet. Soft drinks and juice account for 46%.

4. Candy is the 575th most popular name for girls.

5. Candy lacks the “health halo” of granola bars and fruit juice. But, nutritionally there is much less difference among them than would initially seem.

6. There are entire blogs dedicated to candy. Popular ones include Candy Addict, Candy Blog, and Candy Professor.

7. It’s unbelievable now, but candy once was advertised as health food. “Eat Tootsie Rolls — The Luscious Candy That Helps Beat Fatigue.”

8. The world’s largest chocolate bar was manufactured in Armenia last month and weighed in at 9,722.39 lbs., setting a new Guinness World Record.

9. John Candy (1950 – 1994) struggled most of his adult life with overeating, including sweets. Obesity related health complications killed him at the age of 43.

10. Candy isn’t always good. Just ask Hansel and Gretel.

Halloween Candy
It’s the one time of year when American children are allowed to consume so much candy they run the risk of inducing a sugar rush that would give Honey Boo Boo a run for her money. Between mouthfuls of Hershey’s, Twix, and Reese’s how much do you know about those sweet treats? Well, here are 12 fun facts you probably didn’t know about candy.

1.Americans purchase nearly 600 million pounds of candy a year for Halloween.

2.An incredible 90 million pounds of chocolate candy is sold during Halloween week, taking a strong lead compared to other holidays. Almost 65 million pounds is sold during the week leading up to Easter and only 48 million pounds during Valentine’s week.

3.Over 10% of annual candy sales happen the days leading up to Halloween — that is nearly $2 billion dollars in sales.

4.Chocolate is clearly the preferred choice of sweets for many. Of the $1.9 billion sold in Halloween candy each year, $1.2 billion was on chocolate candy and only $680 million on sugar candy.

5.The top selling candy: Candy Corn. Americans purchase over 20 million pounds of it a year, though it is unlikely that every last one of those millions of candies was actually consumed.

6.After the beloved Candy Corn, the leading best sellers are as follows: Snickers, Reese’s, Kit Kat and M&M’S.

7.Candy Corn is the most searched-for candy term in Google — more popular than candy apples, gummy worms and candy pumpkins. Searches for Candy Corn are up 10 percent from October 2010.

8.Out of all 50 states, Alabama searched for candy corn the most!

9.Which state searched the most for organic candy? Colorado. Oregon searched most for gluten-free candy and Kentucky took the lead in sugar-free.

10.This Halloween more people are searching for gluten-free candy than sugar-free candy. Google searches for gluten-free candy are currently 20 percent higher than searches for sugar-free candy.

11.The day of the year with the most candy sales? October 28th. And of all the 365 days in the year, the top five candy selling days are all in October.

12.Even though the economy is tightening everyone’s budget, that does not stop them from splurging a bit on this one holiday. The average American household spends $44 a year on Halloween candy!

And I have Windows 7, too. I won't update/upgrade/whatever until I have no choice in the matter. So there! Hmmpf!

I have tons of funny, crazy tales about my mom. She was a hoot!! Sure miss her...

She didn't buy any Birthday cards at all. She used what ever card someone had given her and just crossed out the Mother's Day/Merry Christmas and added Happy Birthday! lol We never knew what card we was getting for our Birthdays. We still laugh about that :)

Zuri,
I know I'm kinda on the fringe, going to John Stewart and Larry Wilmore for my "news re-caps" instead of MSM, but I was watching the Nightly Show on Monday and was really touched when Larry Wilmore made his closing comments on Monday.
He quoted Joe Biden's definition about the success of a parent is realizing your children turned out better than you.
It was one of those moments.

You forgot this, Niner:

Just back from the all-you-can-eat buffet and I feel like a big ol' tick about to POP. Kinda like the hamster in the vid!

Thinking of all of you today and wishing good health to all.

I went to see "The Lion King" traveling Broadway production in Philadelphia last night with my husband, daughter and a friend of hers who gallops race horses at the track. Her friend had never seen a Broadway play. The play was phenomenal and the costumes were unbelievable. We had really good seats near the stage and could see every single detail. Her friend was absolutely enthralled and overjoyed. It was like watching a child on Christmas morning, yet she is 21! I am so glad we were able to share this experience with her.

If the traveling show comes to a playhouse near you, I highly recommend it. There are so more plays I would love to see. Does anyone have any recommendations?
