OMG this...

It's why I feel this case warrants consideration for the DP...per-meditation adds a level of devious, heinous intent. It's methodical, and cold blooded, especially when compared to a heat of passion situation. Of course, self defense is a whole other issue, and her claim that she needed to protect her self was clearly not credible with this jury.

The very fact that she had no injuries other than the cut to her hand tells us he never attacked her. Even being stabbed he never hit her and he could have. If he had the strength to get down that hall he could have punched her out. He did not do that. Witnesses said she had no signs of injuries other than her hand. I think that needs to be pointed out to clarify it with the jury. If she can make the claim he body slammed her and a case could be made that she showed no signs of injuries then if he could still attack her he would have punched her out. If you are angry it would be a normal response. Travis was caught totally unaware and his injuries and her lack of injuries makes it obvious. jmo

what i'd love to know is what the initial vote was? was JF the only vote for life? or was there maybe one other juror with him?

because i've read, and i think it's true, that USUALLY, after the allen charge is given, numbers on the jury start to shift. people start moving from their position to the other side. somehow, i think DP voters would be more likely to migrate to the 'life' side, than vice versa. jurors who vote for life are less likely, IMO, to be swayed to the other side.

what troubles me is how confusing the jury instructions and even the judge's answers to questions were to the jury. the instructions shouldn't be that hard for the average person to understand, IMO. i think that's totally unfair.

these people aren't lawyers. and the language in these things is so vague and so dense, that it's almost like it's INTENDED to confuse. that's wrong, IMO.

In one of Jodi's interviews the other night she mentioned that Travis was aware of the phone sex conversation and that they had discussed it in a "chat" message that for some reason her defense team decide NOT to introduce. Maybe the State should be asking for that chat message if they have not already read it. My guess is she is lying. If she is lying about the chat message she is lying about Travis knowing he was being taped and that should be brought into evidence. Obviously this sex tape was taped by Jodi to use against Travis because he made her move back to CA and could very well have been the reason for the text message he sent to her. I could see him finding out she taped him and how it would send him over the edge.

I believe in one interview clip the "wrestler" said he was for life but then went home and slept on it subsequently changing his mind to vote for death.
I would love to be a fly on the wall for those 13 hours!

So we have them mysteriously missing for the question, which turns out to be the verdict and shocks everyone including the jury.
First Troy tweets they are visiting the Grand Canyon, then after an influx of WTF's from around the globe, he tweets he was been informed that they are actually in town.
Next enter Donovan who talks to NG to "clear" up any misconception and she ends up contradicting herself.
Very odd, but then again it fits with JA's world, 2+2 never equals 4.....
People are intuitive, everyone was like where are her parents....
When they realized it was so glaringly odd they were missing, they all of a sudden blame it on faulty info...sounds familiar huh?
Not their fault they were told it was just a question right, funny how the Alexander side and the rest of the world could tune in....

my common sense tells me her family was not 'nearby'. we saw what happened that day. everyone was obviously told this is IMPORTANT. you MUST be here. we don't know what it is but the court wants all interested parties present so GET HERE. and by gosh, everyone DID get there----except for them.

then there's a long delay while their whereabouts is sorted out. everyone was there and waiting and they never showed up, so if there WAS a misunderstanding and they WERE nearby, they should have at the very least showed up at the courthouse LATE. but they never showed at all.

so what i believe is they were indeed out of pocket, couldn't get there, realized after the 'non-verdict' how bad that looked, and tried to backtrack from the 'grand canyon' story, which is the TRUE story, IMO.

She wants everyone to believe that her DT had all kinds of evidence that would have corroborated her story BUT against her wishes it was not used...
Please, she has the mental capacity of a lying teenager if she thinks that people will believe that sack of bull but IMO, she truly believes she fools people.....

Reviewing the #JodiArias journal entries now. We obtain over 600 pages of her secret, sex-filled diary--but what does she say about Travis?

Why can't she just release all these to us and let WS work it out for her?

Good point. Who Dat?

And this is why they were encouraged to ask questions. They were all fully aware that they could ask a question. But if you have someone who is unable to comprehend what they are reading they should not be leading the group. The judge read them and we all heard those instructions and pretty much understood what was being asked of them. Both defense and JM went over the important portions again in their closing arguments. There is no reason for this foreman to say we did not understand. It was his duty to understand, ask questions or he should have relinquished his position to someone who did understand.

I'm not blaming the jury. I'm blaming the system that does not give these jurors, considering the time and money spent for them to sit on this panel, proper instructions on how to pick a foreman and what is expected of them. Once they are picked for the jury they could go over just preliminary jury instructions so they understand what they will be required to do at the conclusion of the trial. If they have questions then there is no pressure on them in the beginning and they would have a chance to consider questions when the time comes for them to deliberate. I just think jurors need more instructions at the beginning regarding how to deliberate than at the end when their brains are scrambled. jmo

When one is transporting kitchen knives, it is also normal to have them packed in a box of books.
:floorlaugh:
Also, when one is transporting a gun, one should assume the best place for it would be taped to the engine of car.
:floorlaugh:

I see me having fun with this.

I have lots of books. I always make sure there's a knife somewhere in each one. Never know. If I need a big knife, I just get a big book. It really does work out better than most people might think.

I like to keep my gun near the engine block. There's nothing worse than grabbing a cold gun in an emergency. Plus, I like to prevent shrinkage.

Good morning everyone :-) WOW! It feels so good to be back here. I feel like I've been gone for years instead of only a few days LOL I have not listened to any news nor read anything about the jurors. I am so ready to read everything here :-) of course I have been thinking about them, I think I'm most interested in learning about the ones who were dismissed, and the alternates.

BBM - I would like to have documentation of this

AZ has one of the worst records in the country for inmate suicides/deaths with some horrific stories.

From an online article:

"Shannon Palmer, Marcia Powell, Susan Lopez, Tony Lester, James Jennings, Lasasha Cherry, Duron Cunningham, Jerry Kulp, Dana Seawright all are mentally ill prisoners who [fell victim to] neglect, homicide, or suicide in the care of Director [Charles] Ryan's ADOC since January 2009 - and this isn't a complete list."

Sadly, she does fool some.

What a thing to say and to laugh about. A woman died a prolonged and excruciating death while locked up in a cage.

Especially considering she was in prison on a prostitution charge. That hardly warrants an excruciating death sentence. :twocents:

Mrs. Arias tells HLN she learned the news by watching the television and that she was very upset over the miscommunication. She said she wanted to be there for her daughter during the announcement of this decision.

The rest of the family wasn't planning to be in the courtroom, according to Mrs. Arias. Her husband, William, is on dialysis and had to return home to Yreka, California, because of medical issues. Their son went with him and Arias' sister and husband stopped by the Grand Canyon on their way back.
