As awful as this may sound, I still pray deeply that this family is never again blessed with a child. Reading this post gives me chills just thinking about another child being brought into that environment and there is just so much more that was going on that was not even posted. Caylee never had a chance in that environment and I agree that there was so much more going on that we will never know about. Caylee was an object to them all. Just an object... like a nice ring or porcelain doll.

Its always been my opinion that the way Caylee was isolated and raised without other children around ... is a mirror image of how Casey and Lee were raised. They were lucky to have each other.. but physically, mentally and emotionally they were raised to be dependent upon Cindy and "the family".. to meet their needs.

Just MOO of course.

Just wanted to share that I have received a summons for jury duty. In the past I may have tried to get out of it. After seeing what happened in this case, I will be happy to serve. We need juries that can actually think and nit just close themselves off from the evidence presented. I have never served before. The only time I was ever summoned was immediately after I moved out of Orange county so I was no longer eligible in that county. I was surprised to get that one because it was forwarded to my new address, even though the envelope said not to forward it out of the county.

Several months after the Anthony trial I also received a jury summons. Many times I have to request a medical excuse (at least that has been the case in recent years) but this time I was feeling well, I was still boiling from the result of the A trial, so I gladly went for my duty. I never was called, just sat in the big waiting room all morning, then sometime just after noon, they dismissed all of us. Done. It wasn't bad but I was disappointed a bit not to have been called because I wanted to see how our area does the "elimination process", etc.

I got my first ever jury notice when I had moved from one state to another, and it was also forwarded to me as they did with yours. I was disappointed to have to tell them I no longer lived in their state. I was very healthy in those days and was eager to see the process in action.

Enjoy your jury duty. Let us know how it goes, if you can.

:waitasec: Venting some idle thoughts, all of which have been mentioned here at some point since July 2008, which still percolate around in my brain when I see pics of Caylee and think about her life:

Caylee seemed to generally be isolated from other children. She didn't go to preschool. She wasn't enrolled in a day care facility, even though all the adults in the family "worked" (supposedly), and there were no family members living nearby who could care for Caylee.

Caylee had no little friends. In all of FCA's hundreds of pics of Caylee, and in all those taken by Cindy/George, there are no little friends; no documentation of her at other kids' birthday parties, friends over at the house, playing at the park with children, playground fun with little buddies, going on play dates (though one of FCA's friends, who had little ones of her own, said she had babysat Caylee, and the two moms on at least one occasion took the kids for a walk at a public park shortly before Caylee disappeared). Caylee's own birthday parties were attended by adults, not kids. Caylee seemed to have been kept at home purposely; isolated from other children/parents.

(Am I remembering this one incorrectly?)
Unlike most little children, Caylee didn't go to the doctor (or dentist). I do recall FCA texting excuses(probably lies) to Amy H., saying that she was with Caylee at the pediatrician... kinda like George and his nonexistent "near-stroke emergency" IMO. And yes, Cindy refers in her myspace post to having paid "medical bills," but that might refer to costs surrounding Caylee's hospital birth. In FCA's initial interviews w/LE, she told them Caylee had never been treated by a doctor because she had never been sick. Was there ever any investigatory or trial evidence indicating that Caylee had a history of treatment by doctors or dentists, or received check-ups, immunizations, well-child visits, etc? I don't remember?

Nobody else was allowed to cut her hair.
Cindy said only she or Casey always cut Caylee's hair. No one else was allowed to touch her hair. They never took her to a salon for her first "big girl haircut." Caylee had her hair/bangs cut many times -- but always by her grandmother or mother, with varying results as seen in photos/videos of Caylee IMO.

Caylee's very existence was kept secret
from the beginning. No one was allowed to know FCA was pregnant, until she was nearly about to pop. Not even Lee, an immediate family member. Exception: FCA dragging poor Caylee along on dates/sleepovers/raucous parties, etc., evidently unbeknownst to the almighty Cindy.

Why not have Caylee's portrait made? ICBW, but I believe there are very few professional photo portraits of Caylee as well, especially compared to most children. Why not take Caylee to have her portrait made on a regular basis? Six months, One year, Eighteen months, Two years, etc...? I don't remember seeing any professional portrait shots of Caylee past infancy... or am I mistaken about this one?

Caylee's paternity was always a deep secret.
No one was allowed to know who Caylee's father was, though the A's allegedly were somehow able to file legal papers establishing that there was no father in the picture at all, and that CA and GA were to have full custody if anything happened to FCA. The family lied to people about Caylee's paternity; then when she disappeared, they all told new conflicting stories about who Caylee's father was. To this day, I don't believe LE ever learned the answer to this puzzle... It's all so strange and secretive IMO.

--

And finally, though this thought is not directly related to the theme of the A's keeping Caylee oddly "under wraps" at Hopespring Drive, I still find it bizarre to recall Cindy's accounting of Caylee receiving "5 or 6 baths" a day. And that's in addition to presumably frequent dips in the backyard pool.

Oh yes... And then there was that childproof lock on the doorknob of Caylee's room. --> On the INSIDE...

So much tight control over Caylee's life and her very existence... How likely is it that someone like Cindy would ever accept the word of her daughter (an established liar, 'spiteful b*tch,' and 'unfit mother') that this same highly protected child was being cared for by a "nanny" whom she, Cindy, had never laid eyes on ... and who gladly cared for Caylee for FREE and bought her lots of clothes, videos, toys at her own expense, kept her overnight, etc... yet was still referred to as "the nanny?" It does not add up!

OR... How likely is it that a grandma/mother like Cindy would let 31 days go by without seeing Caylee, with FCA feeding her lies every day and not even letting her speak to Caylee by phone -- Cindy HAD to know something was very, very wrong regarding Caylee's safety and welfare... if nothing else, there was no way to make sure FCA was bathing Caylee the requisite 5/6x per day (LOL). --> Why did Cindy let it drag on like that?

:banghead: It never made sense! And it still doesn't. Never will.

Caylee is long gone and the trial is long over, I know, I know. Just idle thoughts when I looked at a pic of her today and noticed her haircut. Apologies for the long post, and thanks WS, for having a place where we can muse over this stuff.

Wonderful post. Childproof lock inside Caylee's bedroom??? :waitasec:

I can't imagine *Cindy's granddaughter* being messy enough for multiple baths a day like some average children (mine, for instance - messy little buggers) and I can't believe I don't remember that being said during all those years we covered the case!

Great post. :blowkiss:

Cindy knew from day one that Caylee was dead...

If she didn't believe this, all she had to do was pick up the phone and notify the LE her car had been stolen. This is one often over-looked fact.

Cindy knew. She avoided fca and all her phone calls for weeks. There was a fight that night and perhaps Caylee died right there. Perhaps that was the reason Cindy tried to strangle fca.

Doesn't anyone find it odd that not person in the family cared enough to stand up for Caylee? Not even her birth father...

Odd, yes- SICK and selfish mostly.
Remember when Caylee was first 'missing' and Richard Grund called George to ask him why he wasn't out searching, shaking the trees, calling in favors from cops, anything he could do, in order to find Caylee....?
George's response- "because my wife doesn't want me to".
Any normal person has to sit and shake their head in disbelief at the dynamics behind that answer.

BBM. Sick, secretive, highly disturbing. Don't get me started on George and Cindy LOL!!!

Umm - wasn't Caylee's bedroom Lee's old bedroom? And the lock was probably left from keeping his sister out of his room?:waitasec:

I am looking forward to having my two children and their entire families here for a magnificent Thanksgiving celebration.
And I thank God that there will be a very small waif floating above me the entire time that reminds me to keep track of the very small people in our lives.
Not necessarily in my in my family, but them, too. But all over. Because that's where she is.
All over. We will watch.
Caylee's endowment.
Because I feel like, legally, there has been nothing.
Casey is free.
Cindy is free.
I'm prolly more tied up than either of them are, LOL!
Any you guys know ~ It hurts.

BBM>> Hm, I think I called it the wrong thing. Sorry. Not a lock. It is a childproofing device for the doorknob.

Not sure whose bedrooms were whose before Lee moved out; was the 'computer room' formerly Lee's bedroom at some point? Was it explained in their depos? Trial testimony? It's been so long. Can't recall, but you may be right.

However, the childproof device I was referring to is not really a lock, so 'my bad' for using the wrong term. It's a plastic cover, encasing a doorknob, to prevent toddlers and children being able to open the door with their child-sized hands. The one on Caylee's bedroom door was on the inside of her room, FWIW. Could be there for innocent reasons; I thought it was possibly noteworthy.

Like the one at this link (Target):

Don't mean to ignore the comments re the 5/6 baths per day. Have tried to find old links about this (it was heavily discussed way back when), but no success.

At some point, Cindy was on video stating this -- that between her and FCA, they were in the habit of giving Caylee about 5 (or 6?) baths each day. Don't remember if it was when GVS came to Florida to interview the A's, or one of the impromptu Q/A's by reporters outside the A home in the early days... or possibly an interview w/OCSO or FBI that was released to the public?

So sorry not to recall the occasion, but I'd almost swear on what came out of her mouth -- five or six baths per day for Caylee. Anyone else remember? It was a jaw-dropper to me personally, as well as others who weighed in on the topic; but some folks countered that they didn't think it was too remarkable.

It was a long time ago. :sigh:

I got served a few weeks ago, and sadly I did not get picked for jury. Everything was good until the defense asked me whether or not I watched Nancy Grace. When I said yes - that have watched her show on occasion - I got a funny look from the defense attorney and I saw them make a notation on the list at the podium. I assume they put a check or tick mark by name. I got the boot immediately after that.

I think the doorknob thing. Is to keep the child safe, I had one when John was climbing out of the crib. One day he woke me telling me my coffees burning.( at 5 am) no honey my coffee isn't burning, come on into my bed for a while. No mommy it's burning. Well I got up, and guess what? My coffee was burning, and filling the apartment with smoke.
I had company the night before, made instatnt coffee and used my antique teapot to boil the water. I left the jar of coffee, sugar bowl on the table. The teakettle was a couple of inches of water in it, and my angel dumped all the coffee and all the sugar in the pot and turned it on to make my coffee for me. After that, I put the thing on the inside of his room. It was safe for him in there. He would knock on the door when he wanted me.

Yes, it was Cindy, maybe her interview with Greta? I remember it well.
I thought it was bizarre and compulsive. From what we have seen Caylee spent most of her time indoors. How dirty can you get inside ?

I think I remember Cindy mentioning the multiple daily baths during her rambling FBI interview. She said she had done this with Casey and taught her to do it with Caylee.
