I took a spin by the Sievers house during my lunch break. Someone (probably a neighbor) may have trimmed down the front a little - but still looks horrible...The backyard looks like a jungle! I wouldn't go in there without a stout pair of boots and a shotgun ;)

It's hard to tell if there is any power to the place but if the Air Con isn't running at least on "away mode" then the inside of the house is going to be full of black mold.

Maybe bulldozing the house is the best thing for it!

There have been a couple of houses where I have lived and murders took place....and some of the houses they did bull doze to stop gawkers! Infact the BTK house, Park City, KS, where BTK lived was up for auction. A local business lady was going to purchase it to stop it from being used in a bad way. However, the city stopped the sale and the city purchased the house. That land then was added on to a park, used for more play area and also another driveway into the park....the land was put to good use.

Maybe that is a good idea for places where terrible things have happened....remove all reminder and make it a happy place again....well try to.

Watching Dateline: A Deadly Game (youtube)

:thud:

Venus Stewart was murdered by her estranged husband Doug. He had groomed a younger guy (Ricky Spencer) while playing XBox and eventually invited him to come stay with him for a week without having met in real life. Ricky thought it was awkward because Doug was so much older, but said he was chill. Eventually, Doug told Rick he wanted Rick to impersonate him in order to establish an alibi for Doug while he went and murdered his wife.

Another incredibly stupid man who thought he was smarter than everyone else. On the morning he kidnapped his wife, he left the wrapper (with his fingerprint) for a tarp at his wife's parents' house where he kidnapped her from. Then, when LE searched his truck there was a Walmart receipt in it for a tarp, shovel, gloves and hat. We all know how excellent Walmart is with video surveillance, so...we get to see the video of him with the items in hand after checking out.

OH, and he bought a burner phone so he could still have contact, but anonymously since he turned off his cell phone the day before the murder and didn't turn it back on until several hours after the murder when he was back at home in another state. NOTE: to retain the potential of anonymity by using a burner phone, don't use your credit card to buy it. And of course, we saw video to back that up, too.

While giving testimony in court, Ricky was asked if he and Doug were close and Ricky said yes, and that Doug had even described their relationship as brothers from another mother.

Venus was the breadwinner of the family.
Doug said he murdered her "it was to protect his kids and give them some type of future".
Spencer said he helped Doug Stewart carry out the plan to kill Venus Stewart because he believed Doug Stewart's two daughters were in danger in Michigan with their mother.
His bail is also $4 million.

We'll be down there by Monday. I want to take another look, last time I saw it was right after Christmas 2015, big plastic candy canes were hung on the fence, across the side directly facing the neighbor to the right. MS was arrested just 2 months later. A friend & former patient who lives close by called me 2-3 weeks after his arrest---she was shocked driving by the house. Said the street side gate was left open, could see tall grass & a lawnmower still sitting in the back yard. I think some, or a neighbor, probably runs thru with a mower just to keep the front not looking so bad. A shame the city won't come out once a month & mow OR when neighbors call (if they are?). Where we live, they mow your property then charge you for it. Seems the mortgage holder would want to be sure the air is on UNLESS they are privy to demo plans. Jarvis house brings to mind visions of OJ's house (torn down) although he murdered his wife & friend at Nicole's home. Can't remember if hers was demoed or not (?). JMO, best to doze Jarvis & start over---better for everyone there all around.

Something I've wondered about is why AW and CWW were so welcomed at BS and partner's place? To the point of it resulting in the daughter of BS being excluded from staying there.

Was this something MS wanted and BS just went along with it? Was it due to AW and CWW arrived first, prior to the daughter's arrival? Or would it have been that BS knew both AW and CWW from when MS was young?

I suppose it could be as simple as the mother and daughter just didn't get along. But it struck me as strange.

my gut has always told me it was that way because that is the way MS said it would be

Having met a few men like MS (though not murderous as far as I know) I think he bullied his mom and possibly has done since a very young age. Those people who are so personable, nice, funny, would do anything for you, etc. can be hiding their true selves.

In a media interview, a friend from back then said he was rude and disrespectful to his mom in front of others back in high school.

I hope it is ok to post this... a little OT but not really, considering the State is requesting DP for MS. The podcast Sword and Scale (great podcast for true crime fans) aired a new series this past Sunday on the specifics of the death penalty. The guest speaker, a law professor from Ohio, requested and was granted access to inmates on DR, from beginning to end. I was shocked to hear some of the "amenities" DR inmates are entitled to vs a general population prisoner (i.e. LWP)
Example: death row inmates are allowed limited pornographic material. Obviously his perspective stems from Ohio so I'm sure it varies from state to state. (Texas eliminated "last meals" several years ago after the who tied up the African American man behind his truck --- which was the case that marked increased penalties for hate crimes--- ordered a TON of food and ate none). He nor the moderator seemed to be pro or anti DP so there are no "politics" in the discussion. Strictly the facts.
I thought about MS when listening and it made me sick to think, if sentenced to death, he might have 20+ years of unlimited TV and girly mags.
It is a very informative listen. I will be happy to provide a link if a Mod says ok, otherwise just google Sword and Scale. It is the latest episode aired.
Mods, if this post is too OT or not allowed pls feel free to delete.

I agree that DR inmates get a LOT more 'privileges' than lifers.... and if we honestly did do death penalty say, within 3-5 years, i'd be YAY. But fact is many stay for more than 20, get more outside contact, more leniency and more appeals than those 'forgotten' as lifers. To me that is a much more of a punishment to be ignored.

It is episode #72. I just downloaded 1 hr 3 minute podcast and will listen to tonight. T/Y. Love me some podcasts

I can't recall what led me to the linked PDF recently but I found it very interesting in the very precise guidelines judges must follow in seating a death penalty qualified jury. I know few if any will want to read all 35 pages but it's definitely worth perusing. Any steps that are skipped by the judge may easily overturn the conviction. Sometimes WildAboutTrial shows jury selection on big trials, most times not. They might for MS

Quite interesting indeed! Thank you for posting. Off to "regular" jury duty tomorrow and will read all 35 pages while waiting..

Re: Nichole Brown Simpson's condo on W. Bundy Dr.

Her condo was sold - several years after her death. As I recall, it sat empty for several years after her death.

I love the video too!! Thank you!!

Listening to streaming music this morning...and "Let it Be" comes on and it always reminds me of TS even though I never had the pleasure of her presence.

I pray for justice for her every day.

Have a "Let it Be" kind of day my fellow sleuths!!! ♡♡♡

Sad thinking the kids could be getting ready to start school up north if things had gone differently.

Ran by Jarvis today---almost didn't turn in as I feel it's like an invasion to those living there. Won't go back in the future.... there was a Neighborhood Watch sign posted after you turn in. Another sign stating Private Drive or maybe was No Thru Traffic. I went to the end, turned left & that next street had a No Thru Traffic, I think, so turned around & headed the opposite way down to Matheson, got back out onto Terry that way. While on Jarvis I got a "look" from someone getting their mail---do not blame them one damn bit, they've been thru the ringer with gawkers I'm sure! Wish I had gone with my gut before turning onto Jarvis---seeing those 2 signs confirmed my feelings!

Anyway, we drove thru without stopping---saw Xmas lights still around the front entry posts. The front gate to the back yard was on the ground, could see tall grass in the back. Wonder what the mortgage holder is doing---wish something could be done just for the neighbors sake! Guess all has to wait for MS to be convicted but would think the home would be in foreclosure---who knows. Seems we pondered this before.... like that property would be part of TS's estate? It's now in MS name only, was changed not long after her funeral. Will check out PVA again, etc.
