Originally, one of the two hijackers, I can't remember which, said that it was a robbery that went wrong I.E. no one, not even Tongo, let alone to Dewani, intended this to be a hit but it was a planned robbery that Tongo timed for when Dewani had given him the big bulk of money in the car. That's why he was so insistent on it happening that night. Apparently, according to one of the hijackers, she was screaming so much so they shot her. Whether or not this was by mistake or out of anger we don't know. Either way, the whole thing was a robbery that went bad. Plus, R15,000 is plenty motivation for a robbery, just as five years of a jail term is plenty motivation to pretend it was someone else's idea!

BBM - but the judge herself said that it was not enough motivation for a contract killing (based on something one of the lying killers said about how much he earned in cab fares on a good month <<-- why the heck would she believe that .. it sounds just like the kind of cherry-picking that Masipa used in the Pistorius trial) .. so anyway, using the judge's 'logic' about that, then it wouldn't have been enough for them to have wanted to commit a robbery, which involved a killing, either. It's the same amount of money, whichever way you look at it.

What else did they steal that made it all so worthwhile then? As far as I can make out, absolutely nothing .. they didn't steal anything else, all they had was the money .. so it could just as likely be a contract killing as a robbery.

BBM .. but why would you believe the killers story about this as opposed to basic logic about the case as a whole?

This result was expected considering the evidence. It is easy to blame the judge but the cops and prosecution have done a horrible job collecting tangible evidence. Most of evidence is he said she said , coupled with the deals given to the killers it does not help the case.

I have doubts the civil case will end differently

South African National Prosecuting Authority spokesman Nathi Ncube denied the case had collapsed because of a "shoddy police investigation".

He said: "The judgment centres around evidence that was given by three people.

Sorry Estelle. I can see what's happened. If you look at p.34 you'll see both PrimeSuspect and I quoted from two different sources that said "tomorrow" but the quotes we both used were published on Sunday but we posted them today. As it's now after midnight, they now say we posted "yesterday".

Unfortunately you must have missed it but directly underneath my post was a further one where I asked if today was going to be the last day (the one with another wedding photo of Anni).

Someone on the OP thread was confused with the appeal date so to avoid confusion because others are in different parts of the world and we can be a day ahead as it were, I posted Dewani was Monday 8 and OP was Tuesday 9.

I know you've been following this and it's really terribly bad luck. I'm really sorry for the confusion.

Me too...what a sexually mixed up guy Dewani was and is!

Any woman who heard of this sort of this type of past behaviour, would not want to marry him. I predict that Anni had not heard of it but she would have soon realised, he was more than just kinky. Anni could have been a virgin and inexperienced as this is the way with many Hindu women so do not believe in sex before marriage.
