The strangest fact of all. Medical research shows victims only survive for max up to 1 hour after having their throat slit.

MVB was still alive 4 hrs after the others were attacked.

The only way to explain her survival medically is if her throat was slit hours later - the attacker knowing she would have a good chance to survive.

Watch the video which explains all this.

Thank you for the video, it was fascinating and definitely food for thought. It is quite possible that the two colluded together. It seems whoever did it, will escape justice. It is such a tragedy.
The motive I wonder? Greed, jealousy, exposure of a secret, a punishment due for bad behaviour, we can only guess.

I thin k motives were:
Access again to Drugs for him - he'd been using very hardcore stuff which can induce "personality/psyche changes - in plain speak nice boys become killers on that stuff

You're welcome. Was so pleased to find them. Underexposed. With the media completely failing us on this case thank goodness for 'Doug'

Still no arrests Stellenbosch family murder

Part of recording to emergency at link.

Very weird reaction from Henri van Breda when asked about bleeding from the head by the operator, he answers, 'And bleeding from the head', and laughs. :/

Typical reaction by someone high on drugs and/or someone who is a narcissist - they're very proud of their lies and deceptions, pulling the wool over eyes. If you watch video interviews by experts with sociopaths you'll see they can't hide their smiles when discussing what they've done, even while trying to hide it.

It's quite shocking if this is the case. He was prepared to sacrifice his sister's life if need be. She will live in fear of her brother for the rest of her life, while he couldn't give a toss, no fear, no guilt or remorse, nothing!!

I totally agree, he definitely displayed signs of a narcissist/sociopath. He's quite a big lad too, very easy for him to overpower his father and his brother. It riles me up just thinking about it again and how the police aren't up to the job.
We can only hope, for those who want justice for Martin, Theresa and Rudi, that the police are waiting for some crucial evidence that will bring charges against the perpetrator/s very soon. :please:

:welcome: Justice and David.

Thanks PrimeSuspect. Am hoping those videos get lots of attention. Many don't realise that the more subscriptions, comments and likes that are added to a Youtube page, the more likely Youtube will suggest the videos to others.

The media don't cover this case anymore. If they spot those videos it might lead to some uncomfortable weeks for the guilty. Or even better, help the police figure things out.

I wonder whether 'Golidilocks' is not perhaps more dangerous? :(

So sweet, always smiling, never any rumours of rehab etc, devoted to papa and mama. Picture book perfect. Moving on so swiftly to academic excellence and a hot new love. Master manipulateress? Genius level emotional IQ?

Van Breda made his first appearance before Magistrate Lungelo Juma at the Stellenbosch Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, where he was granted R100 000 bail...

Court papers contain evidence that could ensure a sentence of life imprisonment for Van Breda who is accused of slaughtering most of his family and attempting to kill his sister, Marli, 18, who might hold the key to unlocking the case...

National Prosecuting Authority spokesman Eric Ntabazalila said the State had a “watertight case”. He said police only arrested Henri after enough evidence was secured, 18 months after the attack.

Did anyone save out the video by any chance?? It's been removed from YouTube and not (obviously) available in Google archives... Thanks

8 things you should know about the State's case against Henri van Breda

6. Henri was found at the scene, dressed in sleeping shorts and white socks. DNA analysis of the blood found on him and his clothes matched the DNA of his mother, father and brother. He is also accused of tampering with the crime scene and supplying false information to the police.

A list of 114 state witnesses has been released in the case of the young man accused of murdering his family with an axe, in Stellenbosch in January 2015.
Henri van Breda's sister Marli is number 17 on the the state's witness list.
Henri van Breda is being represented by heavy hitter Pieter Botha, who defended Shrien Diwani, which saw that accussed completely exonerated for the murder of his wife Anni who was killed on their honeymoon in Cape Town in 2010.

Well-known lawyer, Ulrich Roux, who often commented on the Oscar Pistorius case, has made the following observations:

The State should think carefully about allowing Marli to testify against her brother, Henri. He said the defence would target Marli’s retrograde amnesia. “The big question is whether she would regain her memory, and that would cast doubt on her testimony. How can she be sure of what happened that night?"

Roux believes the State prosecutors would not have to rely heavily on Marli’s testimony, as there was enough other evidence, and he expects the State to build its case around circumstantial evidence. "DNA tests will have to connect the murder weapon to the accused without any reasonable doubt and the crime scene has to be properly analysed."

Roux expects the prosecution to put the spotlight on Henri’s alleged drug abuse to cast doubt on his version of events. The weak spot in the State’s case seems to be the absence of direct evidence. He said, "It is similar to the recent Oscar Pistorius case. Only the accused can tell us what really happened. But that doesn’t mean they don’t have a case. If circumstantial evidence is presented properly and the DNA tests can link the accused to the crime, the lack of direct evidence won’t have a great influence on the case. We will just have to wait and see."

On June 14, 2016, Henri appeared in the Stellenbosch magistrates court to face three charges of murder, one of attempted murder and defeating the ends of justice. Bail was set at R100,000.

In early September, Henri and his girlfriend were arrested for drug possession. It had previously been reported that Henri was suspected of being addicted to tik - a drug that is often associated with sporadic violent behaviour. “Tik” is the local SA street name for crystal methamphetamine aka crystal meth aka Ice, one of the world’s most dangerous drugs. If he is addicted to this drug, I absolutely believe it’s possible he carried out this heinous crime because there are so many stories similar to this. In Oz consideration is being given to having special hospital wards for Ice addicts. It often takes 4 or more strong men to bring an Ice addict under control. Henri’s blood was never tested after the attack on his family. Neither was Oscar Pistorius’s after his boating accident when it was alleged he’d been drinking. Yet again it appears that wealth brings privileges not afforded to the rest of the general population.

Reports also suggest that he had previously stayed at a rehabilitation facility. His aunt previously told You magazine that Henri was a "lovely child" who would never attack his family. Henri was 20 at the time of the murders. Since when is a 20-year-old considered a child? 20-year-olds are bundled off to prison if convicted, not juvenile detention centres. She also told the magazine that rumours that Henri was on drugs, had been in rehab and a psychiatric clinic were untrue.

Yet another prominent, wealthy SA family who deny, deny, deny. This story has such a familiar ring to it.

The trial has been provisionally set down for February 6 and is expected to be lengthy. There are two State advocates for the prosecution, Susan Galloway and Megan Blows.

Henri has appointed Pieter Botha as his defence counsel. Botha was one of the advocates who secured an acquittal for Shrien Dewani.

Henri is to make one more appearance in court for a pre-trial conference on November 18.

Thank you for the updates JJ. I have a bad feeling about this one. :(
