I don't really understand this,

It was discovered that the suspect had created a fake profile on the Grindr social network with Levi’s photo and a fake name. A fake that was used to bring him to Barcelona”

Why would you meet up with someone who is using your photo, surely you'd just report it online to close down the account.
Rather than pretending to be Levi, could the profile have had a compromising photo of Levi (eg nude or otherwise embarrassing), which lured him to Barcelona as part of a blackmail plot?

It’s a very strange case.

Is the friend in Ibiza the individual who the PI is suspicious of hindering the investigation? I wont name him, but the “close friend” mentioned in the early MSM articles.

I wonder if one person, if conniving enough, could make a naive friend think that they were being catfished, blackmailed for nudes, chased by the Somalian mafia, all these things. I’m thinking of the profile on the adult entertainment website as well, the day Levi disappeared- not necessarily made by Levi.

If one man was evil, or obsessed enough with their friend, and wanted to control them, could they spin that web? Its easy enough to make lots of fake profiles on the internet.

I feel very sorry for Levi, and I hope he is just lying low in Stiges and made the perhaps sensible decision not to get the boat back to Ibiza.

Spend five minutes looking up the PI and it may influence your perspective.

Dunno, looks like he’s not a nice man, but by all accounts an experienced PI. Unless I’m missing something.

X-FACTOR star Levi Davis has been missing for almost six months - yet the hunt for him has only thrown up more questions than answers.

Barcelona police remain tight-lipped over the case - even when they spoke to The Sun Online, insisting they could not offer any updates at all on the investigation.

His friends and family remain desperate for answers - and his mysterious disappearance has cast a long shadow over the popular holiday destination city in Spain.

No one has come forward to admit what happened to Levi after he was last seen by a bartender leaving The Old Irish Pub on October 29.

Missing rugby player Levi Davis is feared to have drowned in the sea off Barcelona, his devastated family said tonight.

His mother Julie Davis has said police have told her that they now believe a man reported drowning close to the city's port was her son.

Officers have spoken to four crew members of a cruise liner docking in Barcelona at 6.30am on 30 October - the day after Levi disappeared - who reported seeing a man in the sea wearing the same light-coloured top as Levi.

They said the man shouted for help several times in English. A lifebuoy was thrown down to him but a subsequent search by police and coastguard found nobody.

Detectives have also told Levi's family that they have now also discovered his phone signal was last picked up in the early hours of 30 October close to the port.

It was previously thought the mobile phone - which hasn't been used since his disappearance - was last pinged close to the main Sants rail station.

But detectives have told Julie that they have now traced Levi - who also appeared on Celebrity X Factor - walking to the port after visiting an Irish bar and the Hard Rock Cafe on La Rambla.

In a statement released to MailOnline this evening, his mother Julie said she and one Levi's close friends, Richard Squire, had met with police, the Mosso D'esquadra, on Monday for an update on the search

She said: 'Extensive work has been done to track Levi's movements on the night of the 29 Oct and they (the police) are able to confirm that following his last reported sighting at the Hard Rock Café, Levi walked back down La Rambla and entered the commercial port.

'His phone last registered in the early hours of Saturday 30 October with a phone tower at the far end of the port closest to the sea entrance.

'Reports of a man in the water by staff on a cruise ship entering the port at 6.30am on 30 Oct have been investigated.

'Four members of staff confirmed seeing a man in the water with specific details including him asking for help in English and the colour of his clothing.

'A life jacket was thrown from the ship and emergency Sea and Air rescue services searched the area but they were unable to find him.

'The investigation is still very much ongoing and we are hoping that the Port Police will authorise and carry out a further search of the waters and other inaccessible areas of the port.

'We would like to thank the Mosso d'esquadra and the British Consulate in Barcelona for their continued hard work.

'No further comment will be made at this time. We continue to ask that the press respect the feelings and privacy of Levi's family and friends at what is a very emotionally distressing time.'

This hypothesis seems to explain Levi's disappearance. I am confused why it's taken so long to join the dots to come to this as a possible explanation?

Terrible and tragic if this is what happened.

Has there been an active search to find the person who drowned? Especially since members of staff heard him asking for help in English. Wouldn't that narrow down the passengers on board who could speak English? Did they not count everyone on board after the incident? It's not making sense.

I'm guessing it was maybe too far out at sea for there to be a reasonable chance of rescue or retrieval. But if no one else matching that description has been reported missing, this does seem a viable theory.

If that is what happened to Levi then the question remains how did he come to be in the water in the first place?
Yes, good question. This whole situation is just one tent away from being a circus. And sorry for saying, but certain media reporting on this is not helping. Where was this ship, how many sea miles form shore? The ship's propeller is very huge. He could have sucked into it (sorry, for being so explicit)

A Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office spokesperson told the BBC: "We are providing consular support to the family and friends of a British man who has been reported missing in Spain and are in contact with the local authorities."

Cops told Julie that four cruise ship staff saw a person in the water, shouting for help in English, wearing a light-coloured T-shirt like Levi was seen in at 6.30am on October 30 — eight hours after he was last spotted on CCTV.

A lifebuoy was thrown to him but a subsequent search by police and the coastguard found nothing.

The news stunned Julie.

Speaking for the first time about the revelation, she told The Sun: “Why is this information about the cruise ship staff only coming months later?

“I don’t know what to believe anymore.

“I know the Spanish police can be slow but I can’t make head nor tail of it.

“There’s lots of answers to questions that I need to know.

“It’s disheartening when you ask police questions and get very limited feedback.

“They say, ‘We can’t tell you that because it will jeopardise the case.’

“It’s been a total emotional rollercoaster.

“The way the evidence is pointing isn’t good but without a body, there’s just no way of knowing what’s happened.”
