I think he was screaming for help and she knew one of the roomies would be home shortly......she cut his throat so he couldn't scream. Even after being stabbed in the heart and all the other stabs, Travis was crawling for his life. I can't tell you how sick I feel even typing this....I can't imagine what must have been going through his mind...did he know he was dying? I can only imagine his siblings must have asked these same questions many times. :crying:

I try not to think too deeply about what he was feeling during those last moments lest I end up sitting in the corner clutching my blankie and sucking my thumb. The horror of it all is more than most of us can comprehend.

Poor Travis. I wish he would have been able to adequately convey to someone the fears he had, strongly enough that someone would have taken steps to protect him. I'm sure some of his friends did pick up on it, and wish they could have done more. Hindsight is 20/20, so I am sure not laying anything at their feet.

I hope his close friends find peace after this is all over with. I'm sure it's been hard on them too.

I have been thinking about how to prevent the Jodis of the world acquiring more victims. These people leave a long path of tears and destruction in their wake to humans whose only crime was to care about them.
While it wont be a fix all i think we have to begin with
ONE LIE GOODBYE
lying is a running thread through a whole spectrum of disorders
its excused ignored rationalized away
It if was an absolute deal breaker they wouldnt be able to get their hooks in
Lying is an indication of flawed character and intregity
A sign of an insincere heart
its harsh but recovering from the damage is no cakewalk
Just dropping/ eliminating anyone who is lying to you increases your potential for happy healthy
realtionships.
Tell the truth and demand it from others
The truth exposed jodi and the truth is going to convict her and put her on death row.
That is a powerful thing.

I cannot stand when people lie to me, it's a deal breaker.

A short story from Passionate Parenting, reminded me so much of dear Travis, how he writes that he often went to school dirty , in clothes that didn't fit, etc.

"As she stood in front of her 5th grade class on the very first day of school, she told the children an untruth. Like most teachers, she looked at her students and said that she loved them all the same. However, that was impossible, because there in the front row, slumped in his seat, was a little boy named Teddy Stoddard.

Mrs. Thompson had watched Teddy the year before and noticed that he did not play well with the other children, that his clothes were messy and that he constantly needed a bath. In addition, Teddy could be unpleasant.

<modsnip>

Mrs. Thompson, with tears in her eyes, whispered back. She said, "Teddy, you have it all wrong. You were the one who taught me that I could make a difference. I didn't know how to teach until I met you."

One of my favorite stories. Always brings tears to my eyes. Thanks for sharing.

:tears: Oh God, this news just breaks my heart. :anguish:

Remains discovered in Scurry County identified as missing Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn

http://www.ktxs.com/news/remains-di...unn/-/14769632/19392544/-/waih5p/-/index.html

That article implies that the mom seems to, at the very least, know something.

It's complicated and a looong story.
Check out Hailey Dunn's forum here:

What's going on in JodiWorld? I have some catching up to do now.

I think the issue is moot anyway. It is my understanding that the method of death would render any organs unsuitable for transplant.

Thank you for posting this reply. I had 'heard' through the electronic grapevine that this issue was being discussed here so I came to offer my opinion.

Based on my real life experience this IS a non-issue.

Of the two death penalty methods in use today, neither would make this a viable option, also she legally needs to be declared dead to satisfy the DP requirement and then she would nearly immediately need to be brought back to 'life'. This simply isn't going to happen.

It got to the point where Mrs. Thompson would actually take delight in marking his papers with a broad red pen, making bold X's and then putting a big "F" at the top of his papers.

<modsnip>

They hugged each other, and Dr. Stoddard whispered in Mrs. Thompson's ear, "Thank you Mrs. Thompson for* believing in me. Thank you so much for making me feel important and showing me that I could make a difference."

Mrs. Thompson, with tears in her eyes, whispered back. She said, "Teddy, you have it all wrong. You were the one who taught me that I could make a difference. I didn't know how to teach until I met you."

Warm someone's heart today. . . pass this along.

Just try to make a difference in someone's life today? tomorrow? Just "do it".

You have no idea how this has touched this particular Kindergarten teacher...clicking thanks was just not enough.... Thank you! Its children like this, in a community like mine, that make me go back every single year and do it all over again in hopes that maybe, just maybe, I CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE, even if its minimal. Even if its just to let a child that comes through my classroom door, that HERE in my class, he/she is IMPORTANT to me! He/She is MINE as my own daughter is mine. Thank you!

I agree with all the above. I still find it distasteful to comment on how wonderful it would be if the state had the right to harvest organs from those sentenced to death.
I agree with you. The state should NOT have that right. The individual should---just as in the unincarcerated population. There are many prisoners who want to donate and cannot, and that's a shame. Provided they are competent to consent, are not coerced, and are medically appropriate donors (screened for the handful of diseases that rule out donation---and, incidentally, lethal injection does not preclude organ donation), I believe that they should be permitted to donate, to be listed on bone marrow registries, and so on.

And I agree: more care MUST be given to ensure that there is NO coercion, because there is potentially a much greater ethical slippery slope than in the normal population.

Very beautiful. I wish I would have had a Mrs. Thompson in my life.

Thank you for this wonderful post.

I was thinking about this last night--trying to make the puzzle make sense. But then I started thinking that here you have all of these smart and well-educated people (doctors, lawyers, police officer, psychologists, etc) in the courtroom debating and testifying and investing all of this time, and all the while there is someone in that room who knows exactly what happened. The absurdity of the whole thing just bowled me over in that moment.

Yeah, the same feeling strikes me and that's why I told myself not to watch the trial or talk about it any more, but after one minute I gave up. The one thing that can't be out of my mind is that we will never know what exactly happened that day even though the jury finds her guilty and she gets what she deserves.

Will the jurors have the testimonies of every witness with them when they are deliberating, or do they have to request certain parts?

It's definitely advice that no makeup (very mute makeup) glasses and things of that nature are worn - the Plain Jane / meek girl look

unfortunately for jodi she looks more like a creepy stalker girl than meek or plain jane.

The emotional impact statement will be heart wrenching... I am not looking forward to that.

In California, the jury can ask the court reporter to read them the portion of testimonies they are interested in. Not sure if that's the case in Arizona.

I can't believe that I moved a doctor's appointment twice for this trial......last time it was moved to May 2nd at 1:50pm. Isn't that perfect timing? I can't move it again, too important. I'm hoping that I will be at home watching before I miss too much. I really need intervention. :banghead:

I just found this vid -- it was only posted just a couple days ago. Team Travis. Only 92 views, so all WS watch this vid, and share with all TA supporters

Chilling.....and so believable. I think there were many nuggets of truth in her ninja story, and I think you just hit on quite a few of them. Your theory explains how he was first attacked while sitting in the shower, and why he had the wounds to his head and neck. It could also explain some of the defensive wounds he had to his hands.

I've always thought the fatal stab to the heart was the first blow, but this makes me rethink that. Him sitting in the shower in those last couple of pictures just didn't jive with that.

Thanks Anagrammy. I really enjoy your posts.

Lol now I can use BBM, thanks for the explanation.

I have a question. I've noticed that several posts reference "sitting in the shower pics," and it makes me believe I haven't seen all the photos. I didn't notice a thread that might have all the photos, can anyone link me to them? Thanks!

I've given up trying to schedule my life around the trial... and it seems to work out better, because they're never on time.
