I'm just wondering, to the people who think they are guilty- what evidence do you believe proves their guilt? Purely out of curiosity.

Hello Again HRCODEPINK..... I loved your quote from Thomas Paine, however, I do believe the case will NEVER and I truly do mean NEVER see the light again as far as Arkansas & WM Police... I still in my heart believe with all the Attorneys and support behind them (even the famous faces) will even with the admission of new evidence and DNA, etc. will ever afford them a likely INNOCENCE verdict witch they are duly afforded..... Arkansas crafted this WELL to avoid the multi-million law suit as well as SAVE FACE escape... Again, this is just my humble simple minded opinion to all......... My last words are PLEASE what ever we do in life, be careful so law enforcement does not have an eye on us, since if they do see you are a Target, there are repercussions we don't even know. and possibly could not come back from!! :banghead::fence::fence::woohoo::tyou:

Thank you annkitty0630, and sadly, I totally agree that this case will never see the light of day again. I do believe that the boys may try, but I don't think that the state is going to allow it. We are totally on the same page, I believe. I even used the same (or thought them and used similar) words a million pages back when I first heard the news about this being a deal crafted to save embarrassment of the state in exchange for the freedoms that never should have been taken in the first place. I also posted right along with that about how my state went so far in denying that a mistake was made that when they released Earl Washington Jr, one of the initial people who worked the case said that they weren't wrong and that Earl was guilty and the only reason that the DNA didn't match him was because the victim must have been cheating on her husband with the person whose DNA was inside her. This person went on, after murdering her to rape and murder others and the DNA was only matched to him because his DNA had been put in the database when he was finally caught and put in prison. Something that was known to the member of LE that blamed the victim for the DNA before he made the statement!

You are very correct about making sure that LE doesn't have an eye on you and if they do, you better know your Constitutional rights and always remember:

We both have the same view on reality, but my previous post was just to say that technically and legally, the case isn't closed forever. If just is because of cowardly actions on the part of the powers that be.

Hi everyone,

I came to this case years ago via Paradise Lost. This case hit several of my hot-button issues: people taking advantage of misfit kids, abuse of authority,miscarriages of justice, and more. I read Mara Leveritt's fascinating book, and had hoped for years that this day would come.

Several years ago, I decided to devote myself to the case and try to speak out and fight for these three. I decided to begin by immersing myself in the case, reading everything I could get my hands on - and there was a remarkable amount of information, due almost entirely to the wonderful Callahan's site.

An odd thing happened as I continued to read the investigation reports, interviews, and court transcripts: I began to strongly believe that they were guilty. The more I read, the clearer this seemed to be the case. I visited the major "non" board (down by the farm), but generally found the main posters there to be foul and bloodthirsty individuals. I did not want to subject to such garbage, so I've pretty much removed myself from consideration of the case since then.

Over the last few months, I have read about movement in the case, and went to see if there was any new info. I did find a well-written and sober (though opinionated) assessment of the case from a non perspective at this site: http://wm3truth.com/ I recommend it to anyone wanting to see why some (like myself) are sickened by this turn of events.

I sincerely hope that the WM3 are innocent, and that some great wrong has thus been righted. I don't believe this is the case, though, and (the worst part) I doubt anyone will ever know for certain. Rest in peace, Michael, Steve and Christopher.

On May 5, 1993, Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley (ages 18, 16 & 17 at the time) killed Michael Moore, Steve Branch and Christopher Byers (all age 8). They beat them with fists, then beat them sticks, hogtied them, sexually assaulted them...

They were never sexually assaulted. The original prosecutor argued that but since then it's been proven that they weren't sexually assaulted.

Misskelley later recanted, and defense lawyers said the then-17-year-old got several parts of the story incorrect. An autopsy said there was no definite evidence of sexual assault. Misskelley had said the older boys abducted the Scouts in the morning, when they had actually been in school all day.

Dr. Janice Ophoven, a forensic pathologist, said there was no evidence that Christopher Byers, Steven Branch and Michael Moore were sexually assaulted. Ophoven testified at a hearing for Jessie Misskelley and Jason Baldwin, who were convicted in the boys' deaths along with Damien Echols....



In the link Disgusted provided for Misskelley's second confession even he says the kids were never sexually assaulted.

I agree. The internet is blowing up about how could Damien and Jason possibly go to the DMV first thing upon release. It makes perfect sense to me - they need to establish their identity and try to begin a life. I don't know where they're going, but my next step would be to get out of Arkansas asap. I can imagine the police will be all over them in the months and years to come.

Correct. They are NOT on probation. They got a 10 year suspended sentence.

I've put hours of time into researching ALL of the evidence and its all available for everyone to read, so I'm just wondering where people's opinions differ when coming to a guilty or innocent conclusion?

I'm reading the transcript of Jessie's confession again in case I missed something the first time around. Nope. It's still very clear and detailed. Mind boggling.

The whole case can't be based on the "confessions" alone. He confessed to things that weren't true/didn't match up with injuries etc....

HRCODEPINK, WOW, that is truly unreal that you experienced such an ordeal in your State as what we have witnessed in Arkansas, as well as my State Illinois which abolished the death penalty YEARS ago due to the "WONDERFUL" Innocence Project that has released many innocent men from either Death Row or Prison for Crimes they did NOT commit!! Don't ever get me wrong, I am 100% for the people that commit these heinous crimes to be punished to the FULL extent of the law, however, we must 1st make sure that they are the culprit........ Meaning no prosecutorial misconduct, no coercion, not a witch hunt!! The truth should always be what we seek, nothing more and nothing less!! Again, JMHO and I am glad to live the Great Wonderful Nation that we reside in!! Take Care all and tuck your babies in safe and Love them Forever!! :seeya::innocent:

I think that they are going to do just fine. :great: One of the most amazing experiences I have ever had in my life was being there when someone was released after being in for nearly as long as they were. He was a little nervous and felt kind of weird. I had to explain to him what a digital alarm clock was because "[he] ain't never seen an alarm clock like that!" He had a scary moment when the automatic doors at the hotel opened on their own and I had to explain to him that the clerk at 7-11 had not ripped him off and given him counterfeit money when they gave him the new state quarters. But I attended his wedding a year and a half later and he was doing amazing. I have full faith in these guys. They are still young compared to most who wrongfully imprisoned for nearly 20 years.

ETA: You get a whole new perspective of what you take for granted when you meet someone who hasn't been in the real world for years.

I was just thinking about all the new things that have came out over the length of time they were in. Cell phones weren't as popular, let alone smart phones. I figure they probably were into video games, look at how that has change since then. Internet and computer capabilities, wow they have alot to learn and catch up on. I wish them the best. My son was 7 when this happened.

Do you publish your research? I've only followed some of this case off and on. I have to say the celeb bandwagon turns me off and tends to color my opinion. I would like my information unbiased and factual. It seems to me things can be twisted to fit the side of whoever is presenting it.

I have read documents too but they are usually attached to opinions for or against.

Yah he got some details wrong perhaps he made them up or he thought he saw something or he was on some heavy drugs ....sex assaults (?) but the details of the injuries are so concise it is difficult to imagine that someone who was not there would know about them.

Why in the world would he confess to such a horrific crime implicating his friends? Makes no sense. IMO, he was there. He saw it. He was involved.

Anyway, there's no point in arguing it now because they have been freed and imo, justice was not served for neither the WM3 nor the victims.

If they are truly innocent, it wasn't proven and that's too bad. If the victims families are ok with it, who am I to argue? They are the ones who lost loved ones.

I know I'm being confusing. I guess what it boils down to is I don't know what I think, so I'll just say this, I hope these boys go on to lead productive lives. I hope they don't end up back in trouble. I do know if I had been on that jury I would not have convicted because in no way am I convinced of their guilt, I just wish I was more convinced of their innocence and I will be the first to admit it's something about Damien that bothers me. I can be fair enough to say that is no reason to convict anybody.
