Wow. Finally.
Such a strange mix of relief and sorrow, however.
May Jacob rest in peace, the Wetterlings find comfort and strength, and Dan Rassier finally be absolved of public scrutiny.
 
Now the true grieving may begin. Nearly 27 years of not knowing and the emotional and mental torture that goes with it. Sweet Jacob did not die in vain, however. Patty has been an advocate for missing children and has done so much. Jacob would be so proud. Rest in peace, sweet angel. Healing prayers and love for the Wetterling family.
 
Had to come here when I heard the news. My heart aches for the Wetterlings. Praying for comfort and strength.

I know as a parent I would rather have my child. This 11 year old boy changed the world. An incredible impact by an amazing family.
 
There's no way I can read 94 pages. I am not super familiar with this case but I have a question....

I read that Heinrich had news articles in his home about Jacob as well as other missing children. Is he connected to any other cases???

He is a definite for a kidnapping and sexual assault of a boy about 9? Months before Jacob. DNA match. He is also a suspect in a bunch of other sexual assaults of boys in the nearby town of paynesville. I don't believe he will ever be charged in those cases due to a stupid statute of limitations.

He is in prison now charged with multiple counts of child pornograohy. They found 19 binders full when thu searched his house.

They should have had him in 1990. Sigh.

Yes, he raped many other children, Dna evidence linked him to these crimes, but he can't be tried for those because the statue of limitations is up on the rape cases.
 
I keep bursting out in tears this morning. Poor Jacob and his family. I'm glad they will have a grave to visit now, but their true grieving just started fresh today. I'm sure they hoped, beyond hope he might still be alive somewhere.
 
Oops...I should have specified...is he a person of interest in any other missing children cases? I saw a mention of him having other news articles about missing children (including Jacob) so that's why I wondered.
 
This guy is no brainiac. He was very bold in the things he did.

Burying at the time of the abduction seems very bold as well.

He was caught right away but not enough evidence to get him. I wonder if he felt invincible? He lived with this secret all of these years. He must have zero conscience and nerves of steel

I'm wondering the same.
 
I don't know how to search it, but it is said in most crimes the perp is someone LE as interviewed in the first few days.
 
Wow. I am sure we will hear more in the days ahead but at least the Wetterlings' have their answer. Sigh. So sad.

The only missing preteenish boys in MN, ND, SD, IA, and WI are Johnny Gosch, Eugene Martin and Marc Allen all missing from Des Moines IA in the mid 80s. I used teh age range 8-15. Heinrich WAS found to have photos of newspaper delivery boys in his binders though. But would he travel all the way to southern Iowa??? IDK.
 
Does anyone have any idea on where his remains were found?

I am now wondering about Josh Guimond. He looked younger than he was. however I thinks someone at St. John's knows....
