Perhaps this is the important evidence. Remember the report of a female ferang running screaming?

Edit: Don't they have that covered already? IIRC they found a gun in the workers quarters. Not sure if my memory is serving me well here.

I have followed this case very closely and I don't recall either of those incidents being reported.......doesn't mean it didn't happen though.

What with the reporting ban and translation problems, going to make it difficult to know what is going on in court. I just hope that David and Hannah's families can work out what's going on....I hope they have a translator with them.

Edit: The DM once again....in the timeline section - Sept. 20th. - A CCTV video of a woman running near the scene is described but not released. Police say it could be of a witness to the double murder, a suspect or of Miss Witheridge herself.

This must be the important evidence handed over to the defence by the UK.

As per the Mirror article Ellie.. the Witheridge's hired a translator...the online fundraiser Hannah's sister set up raised more than £15,631 for their accommodation and a translator.
 
OMG...right...this may give them a way to save face and have it thrown out on lack of evidence. Holy 'bleep'....never seen such an inept lot in my life. All over the news about the Sky translator being threatened away by the Mafia.

After the agonising grief that David and Hannah's parents have had to endure at their children being murdered, this farce must be devastating.

Speaking to DVB on Wednesday evening, Aung Myo Thant said, “Four prosecution witnesses testified at the trial today: a police lieutenant, a forensic doctor, the brother of the Koh Tao island headman and his friend. In summary, none of them could precisely say that the two Burmese youngsters committed the murder. Their testimonies were also inconsistent.”

He said that the police lieutenant provided the court his account on how he went to inspect the crime scene. He was followed in court by the headman’s brother, who owns a nearby bar, who testified that he informed the police after his employees told him they had discovered the bodies of David Miller and Hannah Witheridge on the beach. He added that his chef went out and picked up the suspects’ guitar, which he handed over to police.

I suspect that this is the same "brother of the headman" who was implicated in the murders in the very early days after the crime.

Yes I would IslandLover, I just had a brief look at the site and will register when I get home (at work at the moment..lol). I first went to Koh Tao in 1991, of course it was totally different then, and never returned since although I have spent lots of time in Thailand since then, so know a fair bit about the sort of things that go on there.

I don't think it is very plausable that Hannah was shot, but I'm basing that on the crime scene itself as I don't have knowledge of gun shot wounds.

I would expect that if there was a gun involved it would have been pointed at David, not Hannah, to stop him preventing her rape. If two guns were used (one to threaten David and the other to threaten Hannah), one could have gone off accidentally during or after the rape. It makes more sense that the rapes occured before the head injuries and that David was incapacitated before the attack on Hannah took place (unless there were more attackers). So, they could have stabbed David in order to attack Hannah and then shot Hannah after. I can't see why they'd bother retrieving the bullet, unless it was registered to them. I don't have much knowledge at all on gunshot wounds, but I really doubt there'd be a bullet to remove as such. There'd be many fragments to do such damage. Is it right that most guns carried on the island are hand guns? Would a handgun really have done such damage? I would expect something far more substantial. That would make it less plausable that someone would just happen to be carrying it around with them and it wasn't witnessed or captured on CCTV.

Sorry for the late night ramble (it's 5am here, bed time). This case just bothers me so much. The level of violence makes it so terrifying that guilty men could escape justice, or innocent men may face the ultimate punishment for something they didn't do. I can't understand how their families are coping in any way, shape or form.
 
No DNA evidence was lost. The guy with the trolley of evidence just meant that the samples that were used for DNA processing were used up which is normal I believe. Either way, there seems to be more DNA material which they can test and hopefully they will. The British might already have done some tests as well. I am not into the conspiracy theories that are going all over the internet, but if the DNA indeed matches the suspects then they are toast, if not then they are innocent. I think it is that simple. JMO.

This is such a spirit-breaking tragedy, my heart goes out to the parent's of these 2 beautiful young people, who deserved so much more from their fellow human -beings than what they received.
SHAME, shame on the sick and cowardly monsters who are responsible,imo.
