One of the victims found in the room did not match the hotel's records.

He added that suspicious substances and the DNA of the victims were detected in drinks ordered to the suite just before 14:00 local time on Monday.

The food the victims ordered was not touched.

[...]

In the bathroom, tea, energy drinks and honey were found, all in open containers, the police chief said.

It also appears that two of the victims tried to get to the hotel suite's door, which was locked from the inside, but did not manage to reach it in time.

Omg.

"The chief of the Thai police forensic division said Wednesday that police have found traces of cyanide in the cups of six people found dead in a central Bangkok luxury hotel."

and

"Upon checking hotel records and security footage, there were no other visitors to the room apart from the six that were found, police said."

"Update: Thai police concluded on Wednesday (Jul 17) that this was a case of murder-suicide, with one of the dead believed to be behind the poisonings."

and

"All six were Vietnamese, according to Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin.

Two of them had dual US nationality, identified in Thai media as Chong Sherine, 56, and Dang Hung Van, 55.

According to the Bangkok Post, the other four were Nguyen Thi Phuong Lan, 47, Pham Hong Thanh, 49, Tran Dinh Phu, 37, and Nguyen Thi Phuong, 46."

Wow. A lot more info in this article:

"Noppasin said he believed the murders were sparked by a business dispute between U.S. citizens Sherine Chong, 56, and Dang Hung Van, 55, and the other four. He said Chong was given an equivalent of 10 million baht (US$278,000) to invest in the construction of a hospital in Japan but was suspected of cheating her partners after the project made no progress."

"The victims had booked several rooms at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel under seven names, and some were staying on a different floor from the room where they were found dead, Thiti said. Police are still looking for the seventh person included in the booking, Thiti said at a news conference at the hotel."
Story was updated today, and now says about the 7th person:
Noppasin [Bangkok deputy police chief] said Wednesday that a seventh person whose name was part of the hotel booking was a sibling of one of the six and left Thailand on July 10. Police believe the seventh person had no involvement in the deaths.

Lucky person.

Property records link Chong to a three-story house in Oakland’s Tuxedo neighborhood, just below Interstate 580. She appeared to be alone in Room 502 [at Bangkok's Grand Hyatt Erawan] when hotel staff delivered food, milk and tea at around 2 p.m. Tuesday, the Post report said. Police reviews of CCTV footage showed the other five people entering the room shortly thereafter.

So I'm wondering when & where she acquired the cyanide...? Did she transport it internationally? Would it possibly have been picked up in screenings at airports? Or did she procure it locally? If so, how?
