2:42pm: Court has resumed and Relationships Australia counsellor Carmel Ritchie has returned to the stand.

She said Allison spoke about confronting Gerard over his affair almost immediately after finding out about it.

"[She said] 'he is now honest and takes responsibility. She said 'he blames me for some of it, the depression'. She said, 'I have spent the last 10 years saying I'm not depressed'," Ms Ritchie said.

Allison told Ms Ritchie that she had surprised Gerard with a confronting question on their wedding anniversary two years prior.

"[She said] 'I surprised him with the question 'What's wrong with us?''" Ms Ritchie said.

"[She said] 'He said, I've had enough, I want to leave' ...

"Allison said she put that sown to a midlife crisis."

I guess these counselling sessions work for some couples, but if that was me I think I'd rather walk over hot coals while sticking pins in my eyes ..
