If the dogs are being neglected and or abused why has animal control left them there?
I don't understand

Did Animal Control even see the dogs? It looked to me as though they just went and put stickers on the house. Did MS let them in to check on them? If not, how do we know what condition they are in. They could be starving, dehydrated and overheated at the very least if they are being left in the garage. That is absolute cruelty in the S. FL. heat, those poor animals. No wonder they are barking their heads off. So sad :(
 
It seems like LE and AC both have reasons to pressure MS regarding the dogs.

For LE, perhaps this was a "dry run" to get MS away from the children so they could run through the logistics of an eventual arrest. Plus, they are probably trying to put pressure for him to speak out. The minute he talks to the media about how shocked he is that his own best friend could do something so evil to his family, the sooner CWW starts to talk, IMO. MS seems to between a rock and a hard place. Trying to keep CWW from fingering him is what makes sense to me to explain his odd behavior.

AC, aside from probably just wanting to help LE and the animals in any way they can, has an interest in not having to remove the dogs from the home if/when MS is arrested. If they can pressure him now to place them with someone known to the family, then they don't have to retrieve them from the home and place them with someone unknown later. And if they are placed with someone in the family or family friends, presumably the children will be able to see them during this most terrible time.

I am sure not every home in Florida that owns a dog also has A/C. Would you think those without A/C who also have dogs, are being cruel to them? The dogs were not removed from the home/garage by animal control. IF their barking becomes a nuisance then MS will have to take action. Right now, he appears to be providing lawfully acceptable doggie accommodations. JMO

I am going to go with this because I would be extremely upset if I thought AC were not doing their job for ANY reason.
As the dogs are still(AFAIK) in the home, I feel that AC must find conditions acceptable.

As far as barking goes... there must be some kind of noise ordinance
I have not read every post in the last few days.. Has a neighbor complained about barking?
 
Animal control left a note, so IMO they haven't seen the dogs, only heard them. As far as I understand in a case like this AC first gives a chance to the owners to explain themselves. After that, if the owners doesn't call/meet (with) them, they'll move in and take the dogs. AC can't just brake into a place if they can't see the the dogs and can't be sure they are neglected. I'm sure they have to give notice first and this is what happened in this case too.

To me it's not acceptable to keep dogs locked up day and night in the garage if nobody lives there for the rest. The dogs need human contact and exercise. I understand that when people are working they too leave their dogs home unattended, confined in various spaces, that's not a problem, that's normal. But after they finished working, they are going home and are with their dogs and are taking care of their dogs. At least that is how it's supposed to be. IMO locking up the dogs and just going to them to feed them, and let them out for a short time and leave them again, is not normal and it isn't a healthy situation. IF this is how is MS "taking care" of the dogs, that is just cruel.
 
I really am appalled that the dogs are still at the house alone after all this time. I don't care if MS or someone does go every day to feed them, it is wrong on my book. That is just how I feel.

They are being 'jailed' in the garage, IMO. The dogs are family dogs and interacted with Dr. Sievers and the girls, so the dogs must miss them.

I'm sorry; I just feel it is wrong.

If he isnt planning on moving back in the house and living somewhere he cant take them why doesnt he just re-home them?
 
I'm not unfeeling regarding the brutal murder of a woman and the aftermath and devastation of a victim's family.

The reality is that there's nothing to be done to help Teresa Sievers, so we tend to focus on things that CAN be done and aren't being done. In this case, it's the welfare of living, feeling, social creatures.

It's human nature (psychopaths excluded) to want to help where we can and to care for those who are vulnerable and not able to help their own situations. The dogs are essentially trapped in what we can assume is an non-air conditioned box in an unbearably hot season in a hot, humid climate devoid of daily loving and human interaction they've had for years. It's cruel.

History has no bearing on how these dogs have been living their entire lives and how they're living now.

We do what we can do.
 
If the dogs are being kept in the garage, how is Mark able to open the garage door and drive his vehicle in without the dogs running out? And why was the animal welfare officer looking in through the front door? I'm not sure WINK News has accurate info on this matter.

FOX news & NBC-2 out there (Jarvis) now, as well as a Veterinary vehicle. Can't give you a full description at this time, but they are there either examining the animals or taking them...I don't know.

Thank you mckazpm for this update. I, for one, am relieved to hear this news. I disagree with the opinions of those here who think some of us are overreacting about the dogs being locked up in a garage for two months with little or no attention. I doubt that garage is air conditioned and I know how oppressive the SW Florida heat is in summer.

Exactly how I feel also. Regardless of whether he was or wasn't involved in the crime, and regardless of the level of grief that may be involved (sorry I have to use may be), he is still the adult, the father of two young girls, the owner of two dogs that require care, so its TIME. Time to pick yourself up and show safety and solid ground to those you are in charge of, show that long term arrangements are in the works for them. I have to assume no long term living arrangement has been established as I would assume it would include the dogs. It's been over two months, establish a sense of security for those you are in charge of its TIME. If there is some reluctance to establish long term arrangements, perhaps the question should then be why the long term doesn't appear to be a concern hmm.

I am TOTALLY agree with you on this Chelly. Those poor dogs have been inside this place of horror/murder for 13 weeks. They had already been separated from their family for the 2 weeks the Siever's were on vacation...and Lord only knows what they witnessed the night their "master" was brutally murdered. :frown: I'm sure they were/are traumatized, and still there in that house and alone. It just breaks my heart.

Surely with all the people who genuinely loved and cared about TS (including her patients) someone would be willing and able to care for these dogs regardless of the outcome. I'd take those dogs in a heartbeat if I lived in Fl. I get emotional just thinking about it, as I had to have my own fur baby put down 2 months ago. :cry: I STILL grief for her every single day.
 
There has been much speculation that TS was murdered in the garage.
We know the murder was bloody.
We now know the dogs have been living in the garage since TS' murder.
This leads me to think TS was not murdered in the garage, but in the house.
 
We know that TS was admired and loved by friends and patients. I would be willing to place bets that neighbors and friends have volunteered to take in the dogs and care for them. Yet, those dogs have remained confined to a hot garage, alone and mostly unattended for over two months. What does THAT tell us?

I can only tell you what it tells me. I have no idea whether the garage is air conditioned or not. i am confident in saying that MANY MANY people have dogs and they do NOT also have air conditioning in their homes.. even in the hot Florida summers. It tells me that he has children he needs to comfort and console and feed and distract from their grief. It tells me that he may have other priorities including.. but not limited to.. his own grief and new "station" in life. It tells me that he is not worried about living up to our standards and that he has living, breathing, human beings he needs to feed, clothe, educate and shelter. it tells me that he is going there and feeding the dogs in a possibly air conditioned garage and trying to be all things to all the living creatures in his world.

It tells me that no one heard a thing when someone was being murdered because they have their windows closed and air conditioning on but they suddenly HEAR and imagine all manner of indignity being heaped upon 2 dogs. The police have been called.. animal control has been alerted and the dogs are still there.

Would you invite MS and family over for a meal as readily as you are willing to take the dogs? I find this disingenuous. i am NO FAN of MS..but this is over the top IMO I am not directing this to the poster i quoted.. but to this whole line of reasoning. MOO

I think my question was misunderstood.
Perhaps the question should have been "What does that tell us about the man, the master of these dogs?"
This will be my last comment on the subject.
