Huh?

Every country that doesn't shoot people for not saluting the Dear Leader is obligated to disclose the evidence to the defense. Including Florida, (unless there's something about Florida I don't know).

Yeah, that's what I said .. as in they are supposed to.

I was referring to the Hobbs hair claim that it was innocent transfer. And I meant found in the knots itself

I knew I'd seen a reference to Jason Balwin's shoes having new shoelaces somewhere. This video also mentions that some of the laces were too long to have come from the kids shoes.

If the video doesn't load in place, the relevant section starts at 5 mins 30 secs in.

Now I know you don't expect us to believe what is shown on a YouTube video and I could comment on a lot of things there, however, is there any documentation to show that Jason replaced his shoelaces after the murder? Which in itself isn't necessarily evidence of guilt but I will admit is suspicious.

Any documentation of Hobbs replacing laces? Just curious

Great find Mrs G

The boots in the video look dirty and brown, but they are muddy because they are actually green according to the documents below.

And the laces look new to me and not dirty at all.

Here is a document for 'Green Lace-up Boots' from Baldwin Jan 7, 1994

I am carrying this post over here, and starting a spot for everything shoelace related ..

Do we know the length of the shoelace bindings?

Here's where I'm going, if the bindings were short then I'm willing to believe they were from the boys shoes, if however they were longer they are more likely to have come from adult shoes, or even boots .. let's have a look at all that.

There were several posts regarding this topic in another thread called "the shoe lace bindings" a couple weeks ago. Is there a way to combine the two threads?

They are wanting to measure all of the shoe laces so they can figure out which ones were from the victims. I don't think there was a result from this though.

Thank you, I sent that to a mod with a link to the other thread so hopefully the two threads can be combined :)

Anyone know the reason these were returned so late?

It looks like an oversight doesn't it, as in shouldn't all of the evidence be stored at WMPD? Can we assume from this that the shoe / laces were not used as evidence in court?

It seems that this document answers the earlier question about whether LE ever measured the laces and attributed each one to its corresponding shoe. It's crazy that they would neglect to figure that out.

Also, it isn't relevant to this thread, but the document you posted mentions Stevie's underwear being found in a tree. I don't recall reading this on Callahan before. Does anyone know more about this?

Going by this report it appears they were checked against the plaster-casts that were made from the crime scene, is there a list of what other testing was done with them? Surely this wasn't it, and I'm not suggesting it is.

The letter says 'evidence vault'. I guess that where they were keeping the evidence. It's dated 2008.

Yes that's where they were being returned to. But they were still at the crime lab for roughly 15 years. Either way, I guess as Mrs G said, it could have just been an oversight. I wonder how many other pieces of evidence are sitting at the lab.

I thought they were in the evidence vault until it was needed, like for an exhibit in court or testing. They won't send everything out for testing. It's very expensive and unnecessary in most cases. That's just my guess.

What do you think about Echols having shoe laces in his pockets when he was arrested?

It's interesting isn't it? We have Jessie giving his shoes away right after the murders, Jason with muddy boots laced with new laces, and now Damien with shoelaces in his pocket on the day he was arrested.

It's funny isn't it, seems all roads lead to those laces.
