IS just made a good point now. TA was ten years older and more wordly, though he was immature. Could that be because of his own childhood?

JM won't be hard on this witness. I think JM will bring out that Lisa has grown and matured and she loved him. Then he will ask, do you agree that he deserved to have his heart stabbed so he could no longer love.....have his head shot so he could no longer think or grow....and his throat slashed so he could never speak or breathe again? He was a player. Jodi was a murderer. Lisa will become a prosecution witness. Betcha.

All I can see is a perfectly normal male. I can see Jodi understanding the fact that he was in a place where he wanted a wife and family. I see Jodi leaving DB because he would not provide her with the stability of a home by marrying her and along comes Travis who is obviously looking for a wife, makes a good income (without having to get out of bed by-the-way), nice home, nice cars and she had to have him regardless of what it took to get there. Did defense make any points? I see a young woman who wrote an email she never expected anyone but Travis to see and she vented on him.

Defense just proved that TA was a normal male who was conflicted with trying to stay true to his church and his sexual urges. What it does not prove is that Jodi killed TA because he was abusive. I feel embarassed for this young woman to have to sit through the defense attorney going line for line of her email, when Lisa finally says she was angry and her issues were resolved shortly awards to her satisfaction. jmo

All of Lisa's testimony could have been so much better for the defense if it was under a better defense lawyer. As it is, with this one, the points that defense is making are not clear because of the lawyer.

The wire basket in front of the jury box is where jurors place their written questions for the witness. There are already a number of papers in the basket during Lisa Daidone's direct examination.

As the testimony stands today, I do think that it is potentially damaging to the State, IF the DT can continue with these types of accounts of TA by others, ALONG WITH PROOF OF SELF DEFENSE.

This type of testimony would have been more helpful in a Temporary Insanity plea, but not so much in self defense. It will be interesting, though.

I think she was hoping she would answer a long time. It's a lot harder to sell that she wrote this email in anger if it took her a long time to write out then if she just quickly wrote it down and hit send.

I'm sorry, but I haven't got much out of this witness. She was a young girl... Travis was a typical male with raging hormones. He probably was persistent. Most young guys tend to be more persistent with the women who play hard to get. It's animistic. We have all done it at some point or another... ok most of us. Just because Travis is Mormon.. doesnt mean he isn't human. Looks like JA's twinnie sensed that Lisa was getting more comfortable on the stand and could no longer rattle her... so she ducks out and calls a lunch recess. tsk tsk.

So well stated, Laceybug. To me, this is a morality play unfolding in fundamentalist religions: Young men obsessed with sex, but it's forbidden. The prohibition makes them even more horny. The young women are more reluctant to jump into bed, but also less inclined to marry a man who harbors such libidinous urges.

To me, it's not surprising that he couldn't resist Jodi's carnal calls.

I think it's hard for most of us to even understand the relational dynamics in the Travis/Lisa relationship because we are not Mormon. There's no question that there is a completely different set of expectations among young, loyal Mormon followers. While Lisa's email may have sounded high maintenance to some of you, her expectations were probably totally in line with the Mormon teachings and practices. And remember that for the most part, all of their social activities and daily lives were with other young Mormons who held the same beliefs.

As far as I know, there is no special "Mormon battered woman" defense. This kind of testimony will help the defense keep Jodi off death row. I'll say again that the defense knows there's no chance of acquittal and their goal is really to avoid the death penalty.
