I don't understand this. It's been tradition in thousands of cultures for hundreds of years for groups of family women to raise children together. Each child just as their own regardless of whether they birthed them or not.
Just because Americans think that mothers should do it all on their own doesn't mean that other cultures have to adhere to that or should face judgement if they don't. In actuality there have been extensive studies that community or familial raising of children is extremely beneficial to children.
The situation with Evelyn is she is a missing child with an active Amber Alert. Quite a bit different than a village together raising a child, or her mother or sister or friend watching the baby while she's at work or school. At this moment, there are many resources actively searching for this child, and the legal, custodial, biological mother is saying she doesn't know where the child is. We all hope Evelyn is safe, but she may be in danger, or worse.
Let's all try to see the situation for what it is, shall we?
