Last fall, private investigators Chris and Trudy Colbaugh helped discover the body of Luc Vance after weeks of searching in Unicoi County. Tonight, they share their thoughts on the Evelyn Boswell case, nearly a week since an AMBER alert was first issued. @WJHL11 @ABCTriCities

I don't care what race, religion, culture or planet Maggie is from. She lives in the United States. We have laws here that the person who has custody of a minor is responsible for that minor. There are alternatives if the person doesn’t want custody. Maggie had custody of Evelyn, so she is responsible for her. She’s also responsible keeping her safe and for notifying police if she believes someone has harmed or kidnapped her child. I don’t care if she likes the police. I don’t care if she doesn’t agree with US laws. I don’t care if she’s scared. Her legal obligation is to keep her child safe. She clearly failed at all of these things and is blatantly lying to police. That should earn her a spot in jail until she tells the truth and the whole truth about what has happened with her daughter for the last two months. I don’t care what Maggie thinks or feels or says. I only care about Evelyn's safety. Imo

I know some people here don't want to see it from outside of their own experience bubble but unless you've been on the receiving end of systematic racism you will have to really expand your heart and empathy to understand it.

Someone who is Romani that I know had CPS called on them because their child was "always dirty" according to multiple reports from parents at the childs school. They reported he often had black eyes and bruising and obviously was being abused. He wasn't dirty, he didn't have bruises. He has an OLIVE SKIN TONE. CPS was threatening to remove the child from his parents care for his skin tone. The mother had to bathe the child in front of the CPS worker to show them it didn't wash off and they were still monitored after that. That's one experience of many.

Tell me how that fosters any trust or belief that the law and CPS are there to help us keep our children safe? Would you feel safe going to them after experiencing that or something similar?

I'm assuming there's another one to go along with the news-referenced "Maggie Nicole Kys" FB, since we haven't met anyone with the surname "Kys" yet in connection with this case.

[ETA: This is not a suggestion to sleuth someone with that surname; just a note for if it comes up in connection with another media article.]
There is a social media connection that can not be discussed. Your assumption is incorrect though it is not another ex boyfriend.

I don't believe anything coming out of her mouth. Her supposed ethnicity and not taking a polygraph due to pregnancy were HUGE talking points/rumors circulating on in SM. I believe THAT is the inspiration for the interview, and I think she will chomp at any excuse, including identifying as something, which COULD provide an excuse for her baby's disappearance. All while, I'm quite convinced, EB is no longer with us and I'm sure who done it.

Meh. LE has to investigate. Having MB making up stories to suit her moods seems to be more ammunition for the eventual prosecution in my mind. I think running down phones stories is not exactly the most efficient use of LE’s time, but this is a major case, and Investigation is going to happen. As far as an earlier reporting giving them more time to find her alive, I just don’t see this as reality. I think something fatal happened, whether accidental or from abuse, and there was never a chance to find a live Evelyn. Maybe they would have had a better chance of finding her body had it been exported sooner, but the lack of reporting isn’t the misinformation that I was alluding to. I truly think LE is letting her wave in the breeze and concoct these stories on purpose to eventually trap her in her web of lies.
Still, LE has to follow through with every lead she has given them so that is definitely a hindrance and a big inconvenience to them.
As far as we know, they do not have any evidence yet to indicate that the child is dead and they are looking for a body. As soon as they do, though, I would expect an arrest to follow. Imo

That's horrible and I'm sorry to hear that happened to someone you know. However, we haven't heard anything of the sort in this case. As far as we know, MB didn't have any previous experience with CPS.
