My guess is a tip from WM who is in custody in NC. LE who has jurisdiction over the actual real property would take the lead in searching. So here it would be NC.

Apparently someone reported a tip to North Carolina authorities, which is why it took a bit for sheriff to confirm it. It’s requested that all tips go through TBI.

It's really not. Not for this area, anyway. My neighbor's pond is about that size, and not deep at all.
