I can't count the number of times that a Sheriff or other LEO said, "Crimes like this doesn't happen in our town"..ie.. Decatur County, TN Sheriff Wyatt in the Holly Bobo abduction 04/13/2011..

I appreciate your insight on that, I suppose that's how small town America gets frightened and scared when things like this happen. It's still hard to picture something like this happening in a beautiful neo-hipster tourist town. I suppose for citizens such as myself it makes us question why people who are trying to live in an honest and non capitalist way are to be the targets of such hatred. I dunno, my heart is broken and full of sorrow.

I have a relative who works for NCIS on a Naval Base. He got called in to work today, on his day off because the base is on high alert. And he was told that the Chattanooga shootings were the result of Terrorism.

Cowardly. Idiotic. Pathetic losers. There aren't enough words to describe this perp's actions and the devastation he has caused. Holy s___t.
And I, for one, am not going to grieve over his demise. Saved the taxpayers from having to support his back end for probably the rest of his life--- and since I doubt this person was in his 80's ; we would've been looking at 60 + years of having fork over part of our paycheck to ensure his health and well-being.

I'd be interested to know if this perp was heavily influenced and by whom ? Imo, if you preach hate and/or violence, you are partly responsible for those of unstable minds who act on your message.

My condolences to those who have lost loved ones , and swift healing for those wounded in body and spirit. Life will never be the same for so many today.

As far as I know, I don't know any of the victims. They haven't released their names yet, but I don't think I know anyone that would be at the naval recruitment offices. But still, my anxiety has shot through the roof and my heart is pounding on overdrive. I just fetched a beer from the friedge. Hope it will calm me down. My thoughts go out to everyone effected.

The Associated Press cites a U.S. official, speaking on condition of anonymity, as saying the gunman was 24-years-old and from Hixson, Tennessee. The report said he is believed to have been born in Kuwait. However, it was not clear if he was a U.S. or Kuwaiti citizen.

I am right there with you Poppyfrock! As far as I know, I don't know them either but I feel in this experience it affects the whole community.

Yes, I know. However, for those living those lives and experiencing things it's more difficult to come to those terms. People who are not intuned with what makes these people "hate" know nothing except "what am i doing to cause this?" Mostly, in my town ISIS is something that happens to "other cities".
