Clearly we aren't getting the whole story....and I feel HORRIBLE for this brother who will already forever feel guilty for not doing enough, but who is being raked through the coals on EVERY news article and blog/social networking site for his actions.
I'm certain that there was a good reason for him reacting the way he did.....at least he thought it was a good reason at the time.
Since the most recent article says he thought it was the boyfriend, maybe he heard her scream while he was in the shower, went outside to look, and saw her and a guy in camo walking into the woods. Maybe he didn't know something was amiss until he noticed she was still gone, or noticed blood in the carport. I don't think BOTH stories are true (above story and the story about the perp dragging Holly out of the carport and threatening Holly if he came any closer). I think the brother MAY have SAID Holly was dragged out of the carport, since he located blood or signs of a struggle. MOO.

We need to remember to keep an open mind and don't fault the brother (yet). We have heard stories from he was in the shower, heard the scream, ran out and saw her being dragged away and called 911 right away all the way to he waited an hour to call 911. We know from experience that the media never gets it all right all the time, especially in the beginning. I do wish law enforcement would be more open but I understand they need to keep some information private for now.

Mom was just on the local news. They are talking about blood in the driveway. Also saying an hour passed Between her abduction and the 911 call. Brother thought it was the boyfriend in the woods but now they are saying it wasn't him.

What???!!!

Krista, I just want to commend you for often giving the family members under suspicion or ridicule the benefit of the doubt. I've sleuthed other cases (such as Wazineh) where you have done the same. While I don't always agree b/c I've sadly become so cynical after so many cases where family/spouses are responsible, I think it's important to have folks who stand up for those family members and try to help balance the scale on these threads.

Or that you could easily drag a grown, kicking, screaming woman through there easily, or at least not very fast or for very far.

That's why i'm thinking the perp had a vehicle waiting somewhere.

One among many possible theories of the case:

1. Whomever did this indeed cased/surveilled the Bobo household, determined the schedules of Holly and her parents. Either physically or remotely.

2. The perp(s) picked an early weekday morning, after Holly's parents were gone for the day, and as Holly herself was on her way to school, for the abduction on the assumption that that would give them some sort of time cushion/head start before anyone would raise the alarm that Holly was missing.

3. It seems possible/likely the perp(s) missed the brother during their surveillance. Given that the brother was 25 years old, it's possible he didn't regularly stay at the family home (GF's apt? friend's house? crash pad of his own?) and the brother being there at the time of the presumed kidnapping caught the perp off-guard.

4. That the perp might have missed the possibility of the brother being there (and this seems like a fairly important detail) suggests that the perp was NOT from the area and not familiar with the Bobo family except through arm's length information.

5. Was Holly active in social networking? facebook/twitter/myspace/etc? It's possible the perp saw Holly's picture(s) online, followed her activities on one of those social networking sites, did some reconnaissance (perhaps even at an earlier date? maybe explaining the perp missing the brother's presence in the household?) and then thinking he had crossed his i's and dotted his t's, made his/their move.

While the reports of the brother's behavior seems odd, I don't think the family has any involvement here.

It's also possible that Holly's bf or someone engaged a 3rd party to abduct Holly.

Many possibilities, but that the perp seems to have missed the brother being at the house seems like a mistake a local to the family/community would not have made.

How in the world would someone know where to go? her house is so darn secluded, I think a person would not know where the house was located at unless:

A. They had been to the house before
B. was familiar with the Families comings and goings

Other than that I don't know how a person would be able to find this house.

Good question,

while I've only used facebook and similar social networking applications as necessary for work, I understand that they encourage/perhaps require(?) users to register and post/use the sites under their real names. And often users of these sites have parents and other relatives as friends listed on their profiles (again, under their real names).

It's possible that simply having the registered owner of a parcel of real estate (presumably Holly's parents) would be enough to locate it on a map.

It's also possible that users of these sites, and maybe their friends/family, give away more info and tells regarding where/how they live and their living arrangements than they realize in their comments etc.

I'm not a fan of social networking sites. Seems like you're a sitting duck on those sites for any nutjob or disgruntled ex that develops an unhealthy interest in you.

My girlfriend joined facebook in the last year and she was amazed at the amount of personal information facebook extracts from users and will display to, basically, the whole wide world without affirmative steps by the user to guard their own privacy.

Even without social networking sites, there's quite a bit of data about seemingly all of us on the internet.

Unfortunately, the same tools clever sleuths here use to investigate a case are also available to the bad guys.

Hmmm....wondering about Elizabeth Smart and that case this past year where a woman in Georgia (IIRC) went missing out of her trailer home......very rural area, nothing else taken....her husband was serving overseas.
Eventually, it was discovered that a 'close family friend' had raped and killed her after doing work around the house for the family.

Were there any workers recently at the home? Anyone who worked for/with the father at the tree business....someone who was recently around the house?
