With all due respect if confirmation from both the TBI{Tennessee Bureau of Investigation] as well as directly from the horses mouth[i.e. Heather herself via a direct link to "her" words on her public FB]..is not satisfactory IYO then the only person that would even be capable of confirmation would be the perp himself that attacked[and that'd be only confirming that the attack happened..which IMO seems to be possibly what's implied here]..

The confirmation is more than sufficient that has been kindly quoted and linked to by our fellow members in their response posts..

Pretty well established I thought.

Re the phones. The FBI used a tactic call a roving bug in a recent Mob case. It can easily be googled. They were able to monitor the cell phone of a mobster anywhere in the US whether it was on or not. By monitor I mean hear what the perp was saying in the room even if the phone was off.

Likewise, a court ruled that they could not (FBI) continue to use car navigation/safety aides to monitor conversations inside vehicles without the knowledge of the occupants. http://news.cnet.com/Court-to-FBI-N...puters/2100-1029_3-5109435.html?tag=mncol;txt

I think people have their eyes closed to how wired we are now. It may not always be legal but the right people with the right equipment can hear what they want. Heck most laptops have a webcam built in which can be activated remotely by a hacker/expert.

In a way I hope they are doing all these things to bring Holly home.

I don't know if this was mentioned but i'm wondering if there was food in her lunch purse?

I hope Heather is with a sketch artist, and a specialized psychologist that can help someone retrieve that kind of info. It wasn't that long ago.

As we on WS sadly know, there are way TOO many SOs everywhere, but this part of TN seems to be particularly saturated. The fact that the perp was waiting outside the door early in the morning in both cases IS unusual. I hope LE is looking for any video on the date of the attempted abduction.

If done right sketches are huge. Look at this picture from the Molly Bish case, the sketch vs a guy in prison on another crime who left the area right after she vanished.

Here's that whole story. http://abcnews.go.com/US/story?id=6797785&page=1

On this site above that was just posted it also says,

Sullivan is scared now and said there are caves and trails behind her rural home. She said she's like to see those areas searched as well.

It made me think about a cave i looked at awhile back when you all were talking about them and i found this cave..

and this picture on the day she went missing...

Not saying that guy in the picture is at all related to this but maybe he seen something that day, don't look like he entered it because of the water.

per his post:
I wasn't sure if I was at the right place when I was trying to find a place to park. Once I got out of the truck and walked toward the hillside I could see the cave immediately. I was surprised to see the creek flowing out of its mouth. That would make exploring it a little more difficult. All the wildflowers on the hillside today made the place feel like being in the Smokies. Thanks for bring me to a very interesting spot.

ALL IMO

I don't know if this was mentioned but i'm wondering if there was food in her lunch purse?

Yes, it was reported on Nancy Grace last night that her lunch was still inside. They said that's how her mother identified the lunchbox, but I don't know if that part is true.

Yes, HB's mother confirmed that the food found in the bag was the lunch she had packed for her that morning per NG show last night.

liltexan....hear an echo? LOL

This has been extensively looked into..researched..hashed and rehashed in a couple of cases here on WS..and through all of that searching it is found that a cell phone can still/and will ping it's nearest cell phone tower even when powered "off"..the key to the pinging lies within the battery..as long as the battery is still intact and in the cell phone it will ping regardless of it being powered off..Meaning that in order to render the phone completely untrackable the battery either must be completely removed from the cell phone or the battery is completely dead..having lost all of its charge..

As for the Iphone tracking mentioned upthread..it was stated that its complete and detailed automatic tracking was a future plan for the upcoming Iphone5(which until this morning I was completely unaware of anything about this feature even being in the next model Iphone5)..but as of this morning on HLN morning news with Robin Meade it was reported that this is already a feature in the current model Iphones[am not sure how far back in models would this feature be...just the 4..or would it include 3GS..or even 3G models? the report did not get that detailed]..from the report it said that this feature was unbeknownst to the Iphone carrier[such as myself]as were the extreme in detail of its tracking capabilities..it went on to say that upon it just now becoming known to us Iphone carriers that there are many who are wanting the featuring disabled and Apple was being flooded with inquiries on how to disable this tracking feature..Problem is there is NO DISABLING THIS DETAILED TRACKING IT IS INHERIT IN ITS CORE OF THE ENTIRE PHONE..and there are a couple thus far in an all out uproar at this point of this latest concealed detail of their Iphone..

Steve Jobs has been asked to comment on this being programmed into the Iphones and why this detail was hidden/concealed from the consumer.. No surprise Jobs has had zero comment on the matter.. WTH??

I've done a quick search and it seems like the "pings" are only when the phone is on and doesn't work if the phone is off. Some phones which have been altered may be the exception and I know Iphones have a location system though I am not sure if that also works when the phone is powered off. It really makes zero sense for a phone that is off to be pinging if it can't receive a call from a technological standpoint.

This has been covered hundreds of times. Yes, cell phones still ping even when they are turned off, but not when battery is removed.

Let's hope most perps do not know this. :rocker:

I did a cursory check of both FB pages and didn't see any crossovers, but I was looking for specific people, so I may have missed it. It is also possible that the person unfriended HS in the last four months, if they are in fact connected.

Sources? And if that was the case don't you think they would have recovered the phone by now?

MOO
I DO think they have her phone.
Again just an opinion

Hi Brad, It's all through the Hailey Dunn and many other cases. I'll Google it now, but if there are any long-timers here that have this infohandy, I'd be most appreciative. I know it seems only plausible if phone is off then no ping, that's what I used to think as well...before WS.

Brad...I have been lurking on here all day, and I spent several hours viewing discussion of the cell phone pings. Trust me...it's already been discussed over and over. Unfortunately, something is discussed and discussed and discussed and then a new person will come in and not read previous posts and sure enough, they question it again. If you'll go back earlier to this morning, you will find it. There are dozens of posts.

We also have to think that it is possible that the perp involved in the HS case was not an abductor. We can't be sure that his motive was to do so. He might have been just wanting to rob her (and maybe she didn't have her purse and he ran) or maybe he was attempting to harm someone else and thought he had the right house/person, and when he grabbed HS he saw that she was not who he was looking for? HS says she thinks the guy's motive was to abduct her, but we have no other evidence supporting that, right? And if he did want to abduct her, why did he not come back and do so?

How large was the creek behind her house, and does it empty into any rivers? Could it be possible that a small boat was placed there in advance(since this seems to be a stakeout) and he later returned on foot, grabbed her, forced her into a small canoe/raft/boat thingy and floated away? (sorry in advance if this question is dense, i am not a big mapper, and haven't had time to go over the maps of the area yet due to my massive head cold and my new puppy)
