Sorry just trying to clarify. Do you mean EMS could not administer Ambien to a patient during transport to hospital?

Yes. Ambien is not a drug that would be on the protocol list.
It is used for insomnia.
That is not a life threatening condition.
There are some meds that could be given from the supply of an EMS vehicle, but they are tracked and accounted for..
IMO if he ingested any med at all before going into the water, it was someone's personal supply.

Pamela is correct. Ambien would not be carried by EMS, nor could they administer a patient's own Ambien to them.

I guess it never crossed my mind that he would get it from work illegally if he took it at all. I was thinking more along the lines of it being prescribed to him or his wife.

Where did the Ambien thoughts come from? Was he taking Ambien?

Not that we know of. We were just discussing drugs that could render a person unconscious.

It gives me shivers when our EMS workers get escorts. I always tear up. It’s amazing to see although so sad.

She has an an outpouring of love and support on her fb Page. I’m guessing this was an accident or intentional on his part and no foul play. Very sad indeed.

“A statement from Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis on the search and discovery of the body of missing Metro Firefighter Jesse Reed

I would like to take a moment and say Thank You, to each and everyone that helped in anyway form or fashion in locating, Jesse. Its comforting to know when trouble hits and we have to come together to get a bad situation resolved, that my friends across the river have always been quick to respond. I am very thankful for that and for each and everyone of them.
With that said right now it’s time to let this family lay there loved one to rest and for us to keep them in our thoughts and prayers.

If there is more to this it will come to light in time and when it needs to. I truly do not wish to speculate or let someone be victimized by a rumor or the appearance of what may be an opinion of another.

Sincerely
Sheriff Chris Davis “

“TBI investigates death of Nashville firefighter who went missing in Tennessee River”

by Samantha Singer
Monday, March 19th 2018

“[SBM]

On Monday, Nashville firefighters escorted Reed’s body from the medical examiner’s office to Spring Hill Funeral Home in Nashville. Reed's autopsy results have not yet been released as of Monday night.

The TBI said its investigation is active and ongoing. As Reed’s family, friends and fellow firefighters grieve, investigators still have so many unanswered questions.

[SBM]

‘The whole ordeal was terrible,’ said BJ Hudspeth, assistant chief with Cheatham County EMS.

Hudspeth said Reed’s wife Ellen has been an EMT for about 15 years and has three sons. He said Jesse Reed worked part time as a paramedic with their department and was always picking up shifts to help them out.

‘I'm just glad he was finally found,’ Hudspeth said. ‘That gives closure to family and friends.’

How Jesse Reed died is still a mystery. The TBI searched Jesse and Ellen Reed’s home in Pegram and their second home in Waverly. Those search warrants and the incident’s 911 call are not being released while the investigation is ongoing.

Robert Guye lives in Pegram and said he’s known Ellen Reed and her parents almost all his life. Guye said he grew up next door to them in Cheatham County.

‘They're all good people every one of them,’ Guye said. ‘As far as Ellen goes, she's always been very helpful. I've taken multiple hospital rides in the ambulance, and she's always been caring.’

Jesse and Ellen Reed attended the Pegram Church of Christ. The preacher told said he’s been in touch with their family and plans to help as they grieve.

Right now, midstate fire departments and the couple’s communities continue to offer support.

‘We would just like to let her and her family as well as Jesse's family know that we're all praying for them and we're here if we can do anything for either party,’ Assistant Chief Hudspeth said.

Jesse Reed joined the Nashville Fire Department in 2013 and worked on Engine 2. The NFD said he was an advanced EMT, Hazmat, Rope Rescue and Vehicle Extrication Qualified.“ (BBM)

“Funeral set for Jesse Reed as questions remain in case of Nashville firefighter's disappearance”

NATALIE ALLISON | USA TODAY NETWORK - TENNESSEE
11:17 am CDT March 20, 2018

“Funeral arrangements have been set for the Nashville firefighter whose body was found in the Tennessee River Saturday more than a week and a half after his vehicle plunged into the water.

Jesse Reed, 32, a four-year veteran of the Nashville Fire Department, will be laid to rest Friday morning at the Roman Catholic Diocese of Nashville's Pastoral Center.

[SBM]

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says the case remains open and the agency's investigation is active and ongoing.

‘We’re working to determine all relevant circumstances of the death and whether a crime occurred,’ said TBI spokesman Josh DeVine in a statement Tuesday to USA TODAY NETWORK - Tennessee. ‘As part of that, we’re working to fully develop the timeline of any and all relevant events leading up to Reed’s death

In another statement to USA TODAY NETWORK - Tennessee, Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis thanked those who assisted his department with the search for Reed and asked for prayers for his family while questions remain unanswered.

‘If there is more to this, it will come to light in time and when it needs to,’ Davis said.

[SBM]

An autopsy was performed on Monday, the results of which won't be available for several weeks.

The visitation for Reed's family will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, followed by a prayer service at 10 a.m. and funeral mass at 10:45 a.m. The diocese's pastoral center is located at 2800 McGavock Pike.

A noon procession will lead to Reed's burial site, the Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on McCrory Lane.“ (all BBM)

I have been following along and not posting on this thread but we have property very near this and I am so very sorry this has happened. Pardon the interruption. Just saying :tyou: for everyone who has contributed to this thread. And also express condolences to all those that loved him.

One Halloween night, I had a lot of candy left over. As I turned in for the night, I thought about the candy bowl, practically overflowing with delicious chocolate treats on account of a lack of trick or treaters. I so badly wanted to go back downstairs and get a little candy bar to eat before I went to bed. I resisted that temptation.

The next morning, when I woke up, there was an empty candy wrapper on my nightstand. I had taken an Ambien sleeping pill before turning in. I had ZERO recollection of getting that candy bar! I had taken it at other times, with no such effect. But, the directions are to take it when you are IN BED and not planning to do anything else. I guess that candy craving was just too much!
Exact same thing happened to me :blushing: and I'd wake up without my socks on and things moved around when I lived alone.

Jesse Clayton Reed, age 32, went missing on March 6th, 2018 in the Tennessee River. After an exhaustive and humbling search, his body was found March 17th, 2018

SNIPPED

He bravely served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 2004-2008. He served two tours in Iraq in those 4 years and came back a changed man forever. He continued in his grandfather Stanley Bess's footsteps and joined the Nashville Fire Department in October 2013. He made his way to station 2, "The Rock", on Engine 2 A-shift. In addition to being a Fire Fighter, he was a paramedic with Metro and qualified in Hazmat, Rope Rescue, and Vehicle Extrication. Jesse also worked part-time for Cheatham County EMS as a paramedic as well as Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department as a Paramedic/ FF.

I’ve been waiting for the autopsy report or news from the investigation. I’m so hoping it wasn’t foul play. I hope they update the results from the investigation soon. I’m sure family/friends want the same.
