Reading the fb news site people are saying he is on foot. That they observed three body bags when the digging went on at the grave site. And claim he is on the run with just one girl. Take it as rumor please.

Police on the other hand paint a different picture when it comes to 35 year old Adam Mayes.

Union County deputies say Mayes is a friend of the Bain family. Neighbors tell abc24 news he would frequently bring Jo Ann Bain's 3 daughters to his trailer home in Alpine, Mississippi. That's about 100 miles southeast of Memphis. Patterson says he's been living there for more than 2 years with a wife and his parents. She says one of the 3 Bain girls may have belonged to him.

"He thought one was but as far as actually knowing for sure he didn't,” said Patterson.

But Mayes would tell his friends all 3 were his daughters.

"He has pictures of them on his phone,” Miller said. “He made us all think that was his kids."

WTVA News Today said they just talked with a criminal investigator with the Tippah County Sheriff's Department. He says there's no truth to Mayes being in the county. He also says law enforcement has not been searching for him in Tippah County, only Union thus far. So that still doesn't say whether he's surrounded in Union County or not.

Yep, like the helicopters and such, WTVA just said they talked to Union County and he's not surrounded, still at large. Sad, I was hoping he was caught.

Dangit. I was hoping they's found him - and the girls. But, perhaps it is best if he isn't cornered and they manage to locate him in place where he can't hunker down. Let's run with that as the upside?

FREAKY! So he was telling the landlord that he "thought maybe" one of the girls was his, then telling his friends that all 3 were his kids. Sounds like he was good at making people believe he was harmless and nice. He painted very different scenarios for different people to view him how he wanted to be seen. Frightening sociopath behavior if you ask me.

Right. I know sometimes it seems odd that people might trust someone like that, but sociopaths are really good liars and change the story to fit the audience. That's how they survive and live amongst us in society, and how they stay under the radar.

Let's admit that if evil people weren't able to fool anyone, there would never be another child killing/abduction/molestation. But they do it so well.

I, too, thought it sounded like they had him surrounded in Union County while ago, but now they're not even sure he's still there.

This article says the double wide was rented to AM's parents, not to him. So where are his parents?

Have to give WTVA some props here. They're doing their best to get answers directly from LE sources, then disseminating the info quickly via social media channels. There are news media outlets that could learn much from their example.

Locals in the area obviously concerned for the girls safety - and the safety of their own families. WTVA read the concerns, did a fast follow-up with the local law agencies, then answered specific user's question. These efforts are especially admirable considering this 'cornered' story/rumour erupted with their locals after midnight EST.

We tend to diss MSM often for getting it wrong or incomplete, but these guys used the tools at hand to deliver up-to-date, accurate info. Kudos to them. I'll subsequently watch WTVA feeds more often for news on this case, with a higher level of trust that they're working as quickly as they can to get answers.

Isn't that the truth! I've know a few sociopaths, and they are quite frightening once you see them for what they really are. They freak out when uncovered.

No. And you are right. The people in Union county are scared and that may lead to erroneous reports.

I just can't figure where his wife and parents have been during all this. The bodies were at the parents house.

That is my understanding, but not sure it has been confirmed by a relative.

Does anyone have any idea per maps with the area near (closest) to Union county,, with specific counties... Union County is small enough I believe to have surrounding counties that may have scanner chatter.. I cant seem to get a map with nearby counties.

I figure that there may be some info back and forth... if Union is small maybe they are alerting other counties with information.

I have app. on phone for poilice scanner.. but can not locate a county map.

I know the perp. is affilated with different states.. I wonder where at in those states.. I hope a possible city will be released.. i dont think so due to I guess they dont want to give details.

I am worried about the girls. I can not recall the exact case or town.. but the guy who murdered the family and hid them in hollow trees.. that haunts me as a possible senario on this.. not in trees but extreme danger... perhaps all ready too late and i hope the perp does not take his own life without LE ever finding a body ..

i hope for the best but keeping it real... this is not going to be a good ending.. two murders all ready.. what does he have to lose by not killing all of them... at this point it is the victems or himself... probally too late,,,
