I had totally forgotten about the other man arrested, what was it, a 2 or 3 days ago? He was a neighbor or something.

So, that's a total of 6 arrests thus far. Sickening!

I don't recall LE announcing that the RN arrest is related. However, I THINK I recall it being announced that it is not. It was failure to report to parole officer, IIRC, and this guy's mother lives in that search area (and he was there). Pretty sure it's in the prev. thread...and a link.

I had expected that with the heavy searching (and the highway "trunk" stops) that LE would find quite a few unrelated "problems".

I have been offline since last night....just came back on and am hopelessly behind and confused! I read a post way back that AM was found naked with one of the girls (so sick....no words)?!? And the attitude toward GB has cooled considerably. Can someone point me to a go link to catch up....or briefly fill me in? I'll keep reading to try to get informed.....

This is just heart wrenching. I was so hoping that AM loved them like daughters...only. I couldn't even think about if he was a pedophile. I am just sick. I want to scream.

The Cliff Notes version:

Someone tipped off LE that there was a cabin that possibly had electricity behind a church. LE went to search the woods. One officer found Alexandria laying face down on the ground. Kylyia was down on the ground as well. AM came into their view. They repeatedly asked him to surrender. He pulled out a gun from his waistband and shot himself in front of the girls and killed himself. The girls were rescued. They went to the hospital and were released to go back home this morning.

About the naked thing - apparently his sister (?) accused him of molestation around 2010. She said she walked in the bathroom and he was naked shaving the youngest girl's legs and had child *advertiser censored* in his room. He was investigated by 3 different agencies and cleared of that charge.

I think it was assumed since he was a neighbor that the arrest was related. I read that the arrest was due to a probation violation. So maybe while they were out looking for these girls they realized this guy was violating his probation. They may have pulled him in when they had the chance with probation violation charges while seeing if he had any part in it. Get all the shady characters they run across in jail when they can instead of them having a chance to flee like AM did.

Deputies went to Riverside Drive residence on March 3, 2010 to speak with Mayes, but that Teresa was at the home and allowed the deputies to walk through the home to gain information.

“Mrs. Mayes stated that unknown 7-year-old girl’s name is KB, and she lives with her parents in Whiteville, TN and they (her and her two sisters) come up once or twice a month to spend the weekend,” the report said. “Mrs. Mayes advised that they have a computer, but it does not have any internet access, and there were no signs of any pornographic magazines/materials in the coups bedroom, in the house or in the camper adjacent to the house.”

Well, the girls are home and safe. LE did a smash-up job (mucho kudos to you all). AM will pay for his mistakes in the great beyond (still wtf were you thinking!!!!! and how else did you think this would work out???) TM and MM will have their day in court.

A deputy spoke with Mayes on April 20, 2010 about the accusations, and Mayes said the allegations “were of the imagination of his sister” because he had kicked her out of the house a few months prior and that she was upset with him and his wife.

About the naked thing. Really. And he was cleared of the charges. I have kept up with this but I guess I missed that. I cannot get my head wrapped around the fact his wife and mother were involved yet. I just can't because that is just nuts. Now there are even more arrests. Does that mean he may have had even more help? Who on earth would help someone do somethig so evil? I guess I am just having a hard time trying to understand all of this.

I think that Mississippi Law Enforcement did an excellent job and should be commended for not giving up on the search even though public opinion (i.e. Nancy Grace and others) were beginning to give them a hard time for not expanding there search and not officially putting a vehicle description out to the public. Alot of people look at "Mississippi ways" as backward and unconventional but I will tell you I am good friends with alot of these guys and they are just as professional as any other agencies in the country. Don't let their slow talk fool you. I am close to this investigation and did not post anything throughout besides a post concerning geographical information but I want to thank the WS community for their committment to finding the truth. I will get off my soapbox. Thanks guys and gals.

I agree they did a wonderful job... two little girls are home safe. le knew they were in the woods... thats why there was no vehicle description. We know this. nancy grace will say anything for ratings.

I wonder if it is one of those families that have a LOT of secrets and are just used to minding their own business or looking the other way? BUT C'MON stealing 2 kids? Murder? You would have to look the other way, plug your ears, move out of state....these people who helped or were willfully ignorant make me sick. I hope they get the book thrown at them.

Below is from an earlier report on March 16, 2009 [not the shaving-leg accusation-Feb. 2010]. Appears his obsession may have been the youngest.

“Upon arrival, Mr. Adam Mayes stated that he and his wife, Mrs. Teresa Mayes, had a dispute about his niece,” the report stated, without mentioning the name of the niece. “He stated that Mrs. Mayes got very irate with him, went outside and got into their car. Mr. Mayes stated that Mres. Mayes is a Pathways patient and that she is taking medication for depression.”

AM was extensively investigated due to allegations of child abuse with KB and possession of child *advertiser censored* mags. After a two month investigation, no charges were filed.

Until and unless more details come out, I don't think there is any way to know if AM really did sexually assault either girl at either time.

I am completely confused as to why the attitude towards GB has cooled, with some posters calling for him to lose his parental rights. I am certain that LE has been investigating him during this whole ordeal and the fact that the girls have apparently been released to his custody says to me that he's clean.

Re TM, if you saw your ex-husband ( who had abused you for eleven years) kill a woman and her 14 year old daughter, and then told you that you had to drive the trailer back to MS with the dead bodies, and you were not the brightest bulb in the pack, would you tell him no? Not to mention he had a gun.
I would like to hear what she has to say before I would form an opinion as to her culpability. JMO

He'd have to kill me! I would rather die then to sit back and watch someone harm innocent people. I would rather die than ever HELP with something like that. At least I would die with my hands clean and my heart whole. I can not and will not allow these women, both MM and TM, to use this as any excuse. I'm tired of the excuses. There comes a time when you know what you should do and what you should not do. These women are just as guilty as AM.
