UNSOLVED TN - Knox Co, WhtMale, 50-65 Grey Hair/Mustache, Hiking Boots & Swim Trunks, Oct'17

The Knox County Regional Forensic Center has asked for help identifying a person found dead along the Third Creek Greenway.

The body of what's believed to be a white male between the ages of 50 and 65, with grey hair and a mustache was found on Oct. 16.

He was found wearing dark brown Columbia hiking boots, size 9.5, and Fade Glory Brand bluish-grey swim trunks, size 34, with a floral design.

He does not have tattoos.

He had grey hair, a mustache and stubble, and was found wearing dark brown Columbia hiking boots — size 9.5 — and Faded Glory brand bluish-grey swim trunks — size 34 — with a floral design.

Police previously said the man suffered from various medical issues, and said foul play was not suspected in his death.

Police and death investigators "have exhausted the avenues they have and we need to reach out to the community to see if anyone can help us identify this man," said John Lott, director of the Knox County Regional Forensic Center.

Could this be Danny Ray Hall, missing from Fentress County, Tn.? He was dropped off on Oct. 14th, 2017 to hunt for ginseng, and he was reported missing on October 17, 2017.

Danny had a backpack with him so I suppose he could have had swim trucks in the backpack and changed his clothes. The boots do not sound the same to me-- Black and Camo hunting boots vs brown Columbia hiking boots but you never know, maybe someone was mistaken about which boots Danny had on. I'm not sure how he got almost 100 miles in only a day or two but it's possible he hitchhiked or someone lied about where he was dropped off (hunting ginseng is illegal, perhaps they didn't want him to get in trouble). Danny has a similar look to the UID and is the right age range, so it would be a good idea to submit him if anyone is inclined to submit. JMO.

Wow! That nose is very similar in shape. Kevin's description says he has a horseshoes shaped scar on his nose and it even looks like the UID sketch has a scar on the nose in about the same location. I think you should submit him too Tree Lights. Although, if this is Kevin, I wonder where his car ended up. Since he left in a car it is very possible he made his way from Florida to Tennessee.

Hi Mike welcome to Websleuths! Sounds like you know Kelvin Close personally. If so, I am so sorry your friend or family member is missing. Our member, Treelights has sent Kelvin's profile to the right people for this UID, so hopefully they are already looking into it. If you know his family it would not hurt to have them contact LE as well, since LE should be more responsive to family of a missing person and they may be able to compare and rule him out faster with that direct communication. I hope Kelvin is found soon so that his family can have a resolution/closure.
