GUILTY TN - Lindsey Lowe charged in deaths of newborn twins, Hendersonville, 2011 *guilty*

Went into labor about 10 pm. Told detective about delivering baby 1 in toilet. Then told him about baby 2. He got up to "get her a tissue" and called to have the officers at the house look for a second baby. Then told him she delivered second baby and left both in toilet. At some point picked them both up with a towel and put them in the laundry basket. Said both were alive at birth. Mom checked on her after she delivered babies. Asked if she was ok, LL told her yes. LL took shower and cleaned the bathroom. Called in sick to work at 7 am the next morning.

Southern Scout, THANKS for your updates. This case is so heartbreaking I can't bear to listen. Bless those poor little babies!

I had to turn it off for a while yesterday when they were showing the pictures. I couldn't watch. It's a hard case. Listening to her, she really sounds much more like a young girl than a 25 year old. Very soft spoken and naive. She actually does sound remorseful when she is talking. I wonder if they will really be able to prove any premeditation at this point, she does sound like she's completely detached from what happened. I don't know. It's not a question of whether she killed them, she admitted to that. Her state of mind, even during the police interview, though, is questionable. All MOO, of course.

So... Can't tell my parents because they would be disappointed I got pregnant out of wedlock as the result of an affair since they paid for my private school and college education...

Seems to me they would prefer that over her education being wasted in prison for life.

In a strange turn of events this afternoon, LL broke down loudly while the TBI officer was reading her text messages with JS (the babies father) about Thanksgiving plans. They have called for a break so she can get it together. It's 5pm here, I bet they end up calling it for the day.

Now I understand why the defense wanted to prevent the jury from reading those text messages with the father (JS) of the twins. They talked about being in love, talked about marriage and he even told LL he wanted her to be the mother of his children. Just another thing to show that she could have told people she was pregnant. The state is expected to rest today and the defense will begin its case.

A heartbreaking story. She admitted to police that she killed the babies, but she entered a plea of not guilty.

Also, Lowe broke down sobbing in court yesterday while the messages were being read.
She arrived today all smiles with a bible under her arm.
1st Witness on the stand was the father of the twins- Jeremy Smith.

Apparently, she placed her hands over her ears in court while the father of the twins was testifying- in front of the jury.

The judge has denied the defenses request for acquittal.

Pathologist says twins were full term= 40 weeks and born healthy.
Baby Boy #1 was 6lbs, 8oz. (Mark)
Baby Boy #2 was also 6lbs 8oz (Paul)

Cause of death- suffocation.
