Sorry if someone else has posted this......
On one of the many links that has been posted today, I read on one that the commune they were staying with asked them to leave.

I would like to know how they found the cabin they were in. It was supposed to be so remote and no one around.

I would like to know where they were from 3/17 to 4/18. But that's a good question.

I am only trying to defend ET's honor. There are other uses for KY jelly. One of them being theatrical makeup effects. Which ET is into. Check out wikipedia.

Don't hate me for that. It is not good evidence. Sorry. I'm not even an attorney and I could tear that one all up. KY does not prove sexual intent. I have a tube in my garage and I intend to use it for pressing bushings into control links, shocks , and the like. It washes off with water unlike grease. Take it for what it is worth. Look on off road building forums and ky will be mentioned quite often. I would not use my garage tube for any household use, being a married, grown up grandpa and all----

But this post will be disliked because you want the sex to have happened. I do not. So I am grasping straws--

Some girls use KY to help with inserting tampons. The fact that it was KY jelly as opposed to something "more sexual" like Durex/Trojan/Astroglide lube gives me a little hope. I, too, hope that there was no sex involved so I get where you're coming from. I just don't think there's much of a chance there. :|

I don't want to offend ET or anyone else, but I wonder if he was caught on video at Walmart buying condoms.

Out of all the things they bought, this one would have been a positive step,(if they did purchase condoms) in this sad negative situation.

IMOO.

I don't think anybody want's "the sex to have happened." Add up the evidence, Cialis, KY Jelly, hotel rooms with one bed, and stayed at one hotel for 2 nights starting on day of KY purchase. Pretty clear to me what the KY was for. IMO

All I think of when I hear KY jelly is Jodi Arias... so yeah, I guess I am biased on that, plus well, KY is KY. In My Opinion, Tad knew what he wanted to use it for.

IMOO.
I'm going with Occam's Razor on this one. And it's not because I want her to have been raped, it's just the most likely reality.

When I mentioned that it wouldn't surprise me if fugitives often passed through communes, I certainly wasn't implying that the commune would have knowledge of this. Just to clarify, I was thinking it might be a good way for them to be somewhat off-grid temporarily, where people may not ask too many questions, or require ID, etc. No offense intended!

None taken, but at least in my experience, people ask a ton of questions. None of the women on the commune (especially those with children) would have tolerated for one second having an unknown man around. You bet your butt they would have peppered that guy with questions.

I just wish people understood how this works. Communes are a refuge for the people already living there. They are not going to just let people show up willy-nilly and live with them if they don't feel comfortable about it.

I can tell you that if two people like that showed up where I grew up, we would have all been instantly suspicious. They would not have been allowed to stay.

Again, as someone who grew up on a commune in the western US, if two "redneck" style people from Tennessee showed up, looking all square and whatnot, that would have been a big red flag that they were probably not hippie commune types.

Where I grew up, we would have never let these two stay at the commune. We would have let them stay the night if it was late and they were broke or otherwise not able to get a hotel or some other place to stay, but that would have only been because we were being nice. I remember MANY times over the years visitors getting kicked off for lots and lots of reasons. Remember, a commune is a place where people live. Would you want someone you don't know all that well living with you now? Nope. I saw people get kicked off because they had an annoying dog.

All the moms on the commune would have at least been upset that the girl was not in school, even if they believed that they were father and daughter.

The commune's I'm familiar many here where I live and friends that live within them now, the kids are homeschooled.

I also agree the commune would have been nice and accepting UNTIL they got wind of something off.

Also there are reports that they were kicked out after a couple of days. Now not sure if thats not true or not we will see.

Thanks for the input about communes! It's always interesting to learn something new. I suppose, since they've confirmed that these two weren't staying there, it's not quite relevant. But I do enjoy learning about different lifestyles.

Give the media a couple of days to get their story straight, LOL.

Rep. Sheila Butt, a Republican state lawmaker who represents Columbia, said Thursday was a great day for her community......

“I have known Tad Cummins over the years, and I think I could honestly tell you that I’m not surprised that she’s safe. I will let the courts deal with the ramifications of what happened here,” Butt said.

Am I the only one who is bothered by this comment?

Unbelievable...The woman is an elected official in the state of TN, anyone who is an eligible voter in TN should contact this woman and let her know exactly how offensive her comment is.

Here's a bit more information about the woman.

Sheila Keckler Butt is an American politician from Columbia, Tennessee.[2][3] Butt is currently the Republican Majority Floor Leader of the Tennessee House of Representatives and she represents House District 64, encompassing the cities of Columbia, Mount Pleasant, and Spring Hill in parts of Maury County.

I apologize if this has already been said, I'm just now catching up on the story and that comment was too offensive to pass over. I'm fuming

I sure hope ET never reads this thread. Enough discussion of gel already! Let's give her privacy and dignity...please.

This commune (BBR) according to its website allows visitors for 2 days. They also discuss if the visitors can stay. Communes are different here where I live you can come and live on one and work strangers and all.

BUT I agree with you that IF something suspicious comes up people do get booted out.

:loveyou: Oh Elizabeth, so very happy you've been found! Please accept all help in the recovery! You're so young and have a life to live. A life of happiness. I CAN happen! Prayers continue!

We had a little commune school, but all the parents who lived there had college degrees, so it was unacceptable that a child was not in school. Just having a school-age child "hanging around" during the school year would have not been tolerated. At my commune, at man could not have his 15 year old "daughter" out there, not in school, not even being home-schooled, without it causing a problem.

<modsnip>

Look, I get what you are saying. But, she was being hidden by a 50 year old man who was sexually grooming her. They were on the run. In the woods. Do you really think she was having a great time being theatrical with makeup and ky jelly? No.

Her honor does not have to be defended. A crime was committed. She should feel no shame. By denying the facts, we unintentionally hide things. We cast a shadow of shame. She did not lose honor. HE did. Period. I'm not suggesting we should talk and gossip about what's been perpetrated against her. But let's not shrink from the reality of this. He intended to assault her.

When this goes to trial, it's not going to be easy. That privacy and dignity might not be there. The items that were purchased will be brought up by prosecution.

IMOO.

Nancy Grace makes me want to puke. JMO

Prior to this case, I was with you on the puking. In fact, I had to force myself to listen to her podcast the first time I was made aware that she was featuring this crime on an episode. While I'm still not a convert by any means, I'm begrudgingly grateful to her for featuring the story on both the podcast and her affiliated website when other media outlets couldn't be bothered. She interviewed both Jason Whatley and Brent Cooper which helped me get a grasp on who these insiders were. I never saw either on CNN, Fox, et al. (not saying they were never on those news outlets, just never personally saw them on there).
Anyway, I might even continue listening to her podcast in the future. :shame:
