When this goes to trial, it's not going to be easy. That privacy and dignity might not be there. The items that were purchased will be brought up by prosecution.

IMOO.

Of course there will be discussion of these items in the trial. That's hard enough, but expected. I just hope she doesn't ever read a thread like this with people discussing how it was or wasn't used. It just seems intrusive and unkind to me. But I guess that's just me. Carry on.

Some girls use KY to help with inserting tampons. The fact that it was KY jelly as opposed to something "more sexual" like Durex/Trojan/Astroglide lube gives me a little hope. I, too, hope that there was no sex involved so I get where you're coming from. I just don't think there's much of a chance there. :|

In fact, I did that until I was in my late teens. My daughter also.

I only wish it to be the case in this instance and I fear it not. :(

It is not really the style. You can just tell who is "comfortable" on a commune and who isn't, and those two would never look like they were comfortable there. You know what I mean. Most of the people on the commune now actually look pretty normal, but they are still old hippies and they are still fine living on a commune. The place I lived was not nudist, but if someone felt like they "needed to be naked" for a few days and walk around like that, then that would have been fine with everyone. We can spot the people who would not be okay with that when they show up, and Cummins and ET would have totally given us that vibe.

I think your experience is appreciated very much! It's always nice to have someone from within's experience.

I will disagree with you from my experience here with 2 communities and 2 different sets of friends that live in each. So that goes back to what you said some communities are more open than others.

BUT to be clear I AGREE with you that if these folks caught wind of something illegal or illicit such as TC & ET they would not want the attention from anyone especially LE, nor would they stand for it.

ETA - I guess it doesn't really matter since this may not even be relevant to this case so my apologies.

Unbelievable...The woman is an elected official in the state of TN, anyone who is an eligible voter in TN should contact this woman and let her know exactly how offensive her comment is.Here's a bit more information about the woman.Sheila Keckler Butt is an American politician from Columbia, Tennessee.[2][3] Butt is currently the Republican Majority Floor Leader of the Tennessee House of Representatives and she represents House District 64, encompassing the cities of Columbia, Mount Pleasant, and Spring Hill in parts of Maury County.I apologize if this has already been said, I'm just now catching up on the story and that comment was too offensive to pass over. I'm fuming
Just to play devil's advocate here...when I read her comment I assumed it meant she knew him well enough to think he wouldn't kill her - that's all. She used the word "safe" because that's the word that LE and media used. Just another perspective, and I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt. I think she was just as relieved as everyone else that authorities reported her "safe" and was commenting from that perspective, not that she was minimizing the effect this will have on the child.

I am only trying to defend ET's honor. There are other uses for KY jelly. One of them being theatrical makeup effects. Which ET is into. Check out wikipedia.

Don't hate me for that. It is not good evidence. Sorry. I'm not even an attorney and I could tear that one all up. KY does not prove sexual intent. I have a tube in my garage and I intend to use it for pressing bushings into control links, shocks , and the like. It washes off with water unlike grease. Take it for what it is worth. Look on off road building forums and ky will be mentioned quite often. I would not use my garage tube for any household use, being a married, grown up grandpa and all----

<modsnip>

Emphasis by me.

Oh yeah it does. Which is why the Feds included it in their criminal
Complaint.

There's an error I see people make sometimes on these cases in which they view a piece of evidence in a vacuum. "Oh THAT one thing doesn't prove anything!" Maybe not. But evidence isn't viewed in a vacuum. It's viewed in context. And in context this piece of evidence shows the intent of the predator TC.

And ET doesn't need her honor protected. She was a vulnerable little girl manipulated, coerced, threatened and groomed and she is not to blame for what this predator did or didn't do.

And that piece of evidence goes to his intent, anyhow. Not necessarily what actually happened. And intent is what's needed to prove the crime.

Yup, meets the sniff test for intent to have sex when mixed with the messages, cialis, razors and abduction.

He kissed his 15 year old student. They saw the correspondence between them and how he was grooming her and acting in a "romantic" manner toward her, rather than platonic. So the charge is transporting a child across state lines for the intent of having illegal sexual contact with her. Intent is what matters. Not whether they actually did. The evidence proves intent pretty well, even if they don;t have an email stating, 'I intend to have sex with you once we go to California".

I don't think it's that cut and dry. If that was all they had they would have waited to see what other evidence they could collect before bringing the charges. IMO

Sorry guys, I just got to say this....
I cannot imagine a man being such a pervert that he has to go out and buy Cialis in order for "things to work." I mean why wouldn't he know he has these urges and has enough self control to NOT buy Cialis. I just don't get it.....

Also, HLN was saying TC had represented ET and him as married. HLN is now saying that they were emotionally close. They are saying he had ET wrapped around his finger.

One more thing, I have a sneaking suspicion that JC takes TC back.

He was caught buying KY Jelly.

I know. I started reading this thread too late and posted before I found out what was purchased. I tried to delete my post, but it was too late. Sorry everyone.

I am glad to hear another POV. It just irks me when websleuthers assume that a commune is a good place for fugitives to hide. I feel that the implication there is that people who live on a commune are not moral enough to report them to the police.

Yes some are more open than others, but people need to understand that communes are full of MOTHERS. There are a lot of moms here. No mom is going to let a child rapist/kidnapper live around her children! My own mom (who lived on a commune) would have called the cops so fast on that guy it would've made his head spin. And my dad would've probably kicked his *advertiser censored*.

I remember one of the women who lived there had a pig of an ex husband and he used to come by sometimes to see his kids with her (very, very rarely - one of those guys). Well he is in his 30's and one time he brings with him his new 16 year old girlfriend (legal in the state sadly). Everyone on the commune told him to eff off and not come back anymore. I remember my dad kept calling her a "child" and thought the guy was scum.

A 12 X 12 foot cabin. (Johunt, i.e. 144 square feet.)

Heehee my son lives in a cabin that big:)

ETA - Its a tiny home off grid. Really cute but freaking tiny!!!

ETAA- hahahah I just got that you are helping me with my maths:) hahahahahahahahaha

As in collecting and labeling rocks showing where they have been. souvenirs .

Right what I meant was, who labeled them? Were they already labeled and purchased that way, or did she go rockhounding and label them herself?

RBBM- he will be a jail bird. Not much to take back. Right?
