In an interview with Good Morning America, Elizabeth Thomas’ 17-year-old sister, Sarah Thomas, tried to stop her tears from flowing as she described how Tad Cummins, 50, began making the family, especially Elizabeth, extremely uncomfortable by showing up to her home unannounced and uninvited.

yes, but churches usually have to approve it. Often a group goes....like a teen group.

I don't think there is any requirement (who would make the requirement) for a church to approve of someone going to another country for the purpose of goodwill.

I can be on vacation in Coast Rica (I wish) and declare myself a missionary to everyone I meet. I doubt anyone would challenge that comment and no one would require a document.

Again, I am coming from the point of view of someone he would be telling that to.

Oh I was saying I didn't take them saying using the cover of a missionary to mean he would try and join up with a mission group. I took that as he might tell locals that is what he was doing.

They have not minced words about this. From the beginning, LE has said he groomed her for sexual exploitation.

Of course, It would be good if it weren't sexual in nature. I don't think anyone at all would disagree with that. But the facts are, it IS.

Maybe the proof is within the deleted drafts and other private correspondence.
Other than a peck on the mouth and the abundant attention TC gave to ET, I haven't seen proof of actual sex acts taking place. I'm not saying they have not taken place, just not 100 percent sure.

This has actually been my thought all along.

I said earlier that if TC went West or even North it seems like it will take longer to find them.

I know someone quoted me asking why I felt that way and it's because from someone who lives in the North...It's not getting much attention here. At least not where I am at. I have asked many people if they have heard of the AA. And no one has. If not for WS, I'd be clueless.

If the phone pinging in Decatur was a decoy. Then it seems to be working.

While I understand the reasoning behind the Mexico theories I can't help but wonder why so much time is spent wondering about crossing borders into a foreign country yet 3/4 of the US isn't really being discussed as a possibility.

You have pointed out a blind spot of mine, and that is not giving more serious consideration to other areas of the US.

I am sticking with my Central America theory due to many reasons, but I should give more consideration to other areas.

I have been posting the missing posters on my FB page and today I posted about 5 pictures with more info. Praying the right person sees them.

I have a bad feeling about this case but trying to bury those thoughts and be positive.

They haven't said sex acts have taken place. They said he was grooming her for that and that makes it impossible for her to make the decision to leave IMO. That is manipulation and not her decision.

YES. This as well as conflicting behavior are massive signs of an abusive and volatile relationship. Loving and hating, fearing and seeking. These are elements in most abusive situations. I don't understand the confusion with this. These are things that happen in abusive or manipulative "relationships." (I used quotes, because in this situation it's not a relationship. It's criminal.)

Thank you for this. I do not watch the videos (I have April up and it is about all my computer can take). I think I am going to avoid linking that site from now on.

I think both of you are correct within the context you are thinking.

I doubt they can join another mission group on the fly.

They can tell anyone that they are missionaries new to the country. In that scenario, you do not want to be around other Americans.

No proof has been given by LE that "sex acts" have taken place. They have said he groomed and manipulated her for sexual reasons. It's semantics at this point. Why does it matter if "sex acts" took place before she was missing? Does it make him a better guy? Does it make her less in danger? More or less of a victim? She was in danger of being used by him before, during, and after she was missing. The point is, a child was groomed and manipulated for the purpose of sexual exploitation by and adult. We do not need to be privy to information that something physically took place. Why would anyone think they should have the right to those details of a victim?

Does kidnapping turn from a state offense to federal offense when state lines are crossed only?

Will crossing said lines also turn the charge from misdemeanor to felony, or are there different levels of kidnapping charges?
