Oh my...well this is developing in a very bad way...at least LE is not wasting time in charging him...

The little boy looks so happy in the pix I have seen. It is hard to believe that his dad was abusive. And for some reason both the mothers allowed him to be the caretaker. So it seems he was a good father. So what happened?

ETA: I hope it is not another potty accident.

Hate to quote myself above , but here it is:

"He told officers his son wet his pants, and that he threatened to spank him. Instead, the father told police, he made his son change his clothes, then sat him down in front of the television."

Sorry but I think that tells the story. Dad got mad because his toddler wet his pants. How many times have we seen this trigger violence? What is it about potty training that makes some parents lose their freakin minds?

I want to point out ,that Shelby county's last 200 arrest only includes 17 white people which leads me question how that is ..

No patience, short temper, short fuse & just bad parenting. When you potty train, you have to sit on the floor many times for what seems like hours waiting & being positive. I don't think dad was raised that way what I'm reading about him. jmo

OH. GOD.

Police searched the house and found blood spatter on the bathroom walls, a blood pool in the bathroom closet, blood drops on the floor and around the tub and a white piece of cloth with blood on it.

“Based upon the age of the missing child, and the blood evidence in the bathroom, which is consistent with blunt force trauma, (we have) probable cause to believe that the child has sustained serious bodily injury,” a police affidavit says.

Oh my god. I was really hoping this wouldn't be the case. If it turns out to be what it certainly is shaping out to be, my only question is why?! According to his own words, that baby never bothered anyone. He just watched tv. And, it turns out, he was only visiting. So, he wet his pants which would maybe be one of the only times that baby needed parental understanding/compassion, he's possibly been beaten to death over it. Heart breaking.

Where are the mothers? I am surprised that they decided he should be the caregiver to the babies.

Here's MB's mother:

Latoya Kanneh, the 23-year-old mother of the missing child, called out “Where’s my baby?” when she reached the rest of the crowd at a strip of stores on Crump. They found nothing

Kanneh said her son lives with her in Arkansas, but was visiting his father in Memphis. There hadn’t been any incidents when Maurice had visited before, and the child doesn’t have a history of wandering off, she said.“

Potty training....??? Parents harm their children because they have a potty accident? Wow. The fact this may have happened to this child is horriffic, and I never realized such things could cause a parent to harm their child. I just don't get it.

Thanks! I am behind and thanks button keeps disappearing.

I think they need to leave him in a room with the baby's mama for a short spell.

I used to work in Compton area of Los Angeles with At Risk high school kids. Many of the kids had kids themselves. I noticed that the fathers were obsessed with their toddlers being potty trained at a very young age. At first I thought it was a financial thing, like the high cost of diapers. But we had free diaper program in place at the nursery.

Eventually I learned that the attitude among the dad's ,especially towards their boys, was that they were 'losers' if they wet their pants. Some expected 2 yr olds to stay dry at night, and would spank the babies in their sleep if they were found to have wet the bed. Which obviously created further issues in trying to potty train.

I think it is kind of a cultural thing. Like "real' men can teach their sons to stay dry, or else.

Yep. Hard to believe. I've never known a parent to become that impatient with a toddler for having potty accident. Maybe Jr. was watching TV and wanted to wait for a commercial but couldn't hold it that long. Just an accident. :banghead:

Late Monday afternoon, police at the missing boy's home sprinted away after a report that he had been found four blocks away.

And while the report turned out to be a false alarm, two people were arrested after arguing with police.
I'm thinking someone staged the false alarm so police would stop investigating. One or both of those arrested may have been responsible and arrested for interfering with a criminal investigation.
