2006 feature film, directed by filmmaker Brett Hanover.

A fictional story of involvement and disillusionment with Scientology, the film explicitly uses Scientology terms throughout, as well as including clips from actual Scientology promotional and training videos. It was released as free use media to the Internet in September 2006 by the filmmaker.

The brochure of the Indie Memphis film festival stated that The Bridge was the "first feature film" about the Church Of Scientology. While it is set against the background of the Church of Scientology and the Sea Org, the characters and situations depicted are fictional.

Seems CoS is coming up with one of the missing members in a most cruel and unusual way:

"The Voice has received a reliable report that Heber Jentzsch, president of the Church of Scientology International -- who has not been seen in public since about 2004 -- is being allowed to leave Scientology's desert base east of Los Angeles in order to attend a memorial for his son, Alexander.

A church official told our source that Heber, 76, would be giving a eulogy at the service, which is to take place at the Hollywood Celebrity Centre on Franklin Avenue on Thursday morning at 11 am."

And another missing member is working:

"This includes the mysterious case of Michelle "Shelly" Miscavige -- she is said to have helped set up Cruise and Holmes -- who reportedly has not been seen since 2007.

Attorneys who represent Shelly told Us Weekly on Friday: "She is not missing. Any reports that she is missing are false . . . Mrs. Miscavige has been working non-stop in the Church, as she always has."

Yes, let's just label her as a nut and move on.

Really? That's what they want, right?

Good point, even though she DEFENDS Scientology itself they would probably much rather have us believe she is a nut than someone who really appreciates this thing they all practice because she is critical of THEM not IT.

I am so glad to hear this-they had to produce him-b/c if they did not the reporters would have hounded them..as for Shelly look at what they say-she has been working non-stop for the church-I bet she has-for 100 hrs & no/ very little pay..I do not think she is there of her own free will!!
I wonder if Heber will leave for good after the memorial or will DM threaten him??Anyone want to guess what he will do-God I hope he leaves!!

DM is one person I would love to see do the perp walk!!

Unfortunately, in the article his wife/mother of deceased, says no cameras or reporters will be allowed near, Herber (if really there) will be surrounded and not able to flee. If he is alive and there, it is sad for a father to give the eulogy.

CoS can say Shelly is alive and working, but that does not mean that is true either!

So, no one has seen or will be seeing either missing person, it is just spin at this point.

the comments in that above story are very hopeful in maybe something can be done

I think if 100 or so people calling to ask about a welfare check on one person can't be ignored..

Yeah, I thought the guy was a major fool too. Ok, you want to find out if it's true that it's all about money. Well, they keep hounding you about how much money you have in the bank and that doesn't make you run away? :waitasec: You've already gotten your answer. :banghead:

One recurring theme that comes through all of these articles, and documentaries, is that ex-members never tell the truth about the COS, EVER! I read one article where an ex member said something the church denied, but later the COS says something exactly the same. I wish I had linked and put the quotes into a post.

So you don't have to be Gypsy not to be taken in by a cult? Is that what you're saying? Thank goodness.

I think ex-members never tell the truth because they are embarrassed that they go taken in and spent so much money. They want to be able to hold onto a last shred of dignity. :twocents:

I hope so, but the comment also say the Sheriff or whichever position is a Scientologist and will do nothing.

At 76, in The Hole since 2004, and a believer, I don't know that the man can do anything himself. I would hope that some legal action could be taken, but it is today, so all those calls need to go quickly.

Not a gypsy here either, but wish I was! I don't know how people get taken into this. I think it is mostly young people that are finding their way. I have no idea how adults get caught up in it. Guess that is why I keep watching all these videos, but I'm still not understanding that part. I'm just too big a pain in the behind to go there I suppose. School of Hard Knocks and all.

I agree about ex-members not telling all. Not only out of embarrassment, but fear. That is why I wonder what is the big secret(s) not being told. I think they are not saying certain things out of fear for their lives. There would need to be some hard evidence (impossible inside since nothing is allowed) and it would take someone so fed up they didn't care if CoS killed them. There are more secrets than what is being told and each one says as much - in the interviews and in Court testimony - but none is saying whatever the secrets are.

Just had a thought.

Has Herber ever been officially reported missing? If so, wouldn't you call the local Feds? Call local FBI, U.S. Marshall Office, U.S. Attorney Office, U.S. Magistrate, I don't know. They could do an emergency check and demand to see Herber since it has been announced that he will be there at 11 a.m. today, say he's been missing since 2004. I have no idea who could be called, but that seems another likely place.

There are actually not a lot of young new membes joining COS anymore, most of the young people today remember and probably took part in Project Chanology, they grew up on the internet reading all about COS and its evil deeds, the COS is actually growing very old and the only young people involved are generational COS members, kids born to COS parents.

Also one of the main reasons the COS continues to be effective is that they mobilize very quickly when anything bad happens, when Katrina happened the COS was the first organization on the scene setting up tents and offering food and water to those in need, they then had those people's attention and introduced them to the church, same with the Haiti earthquakes, the Japanese earthquakes etc, the COS was and always is the first response organization on the scene when these things happen, hurricanes, whatever it may be they have tents set up immediately offering assistance and help to those in need once they have these people's attention and these people see them as being a good helpful organization they end up getting involved and that is what keeps their numbers consistent. If it werent for these types of things the COS would probably not have enough members right now to even be much of a force, the local orgs are empty and no new members are lining up to join it is only when a tragedy happens that they show their face and people take notice of them and see them in a good light. This is a very effective method that they have perfected.
