I honestly don't think Tommy did anything with Haleigh. I think Ronald was at Tommy's house that night, and that's the reason the dogs were barking. My theory is that Ronald took Haleigh's body and buried her on that property. I think he and Misty hid the stolen property, Ronald's stolen gun, and Haleigh's body there. I know that sounds far fetched, but it's my guess.
What time was this? How do you square this theory with Ronald being at work? Could he just leave there for hours at a time and no one would notice? Whoever else would cover for Ronald, if he did something wrong, I can't see the people at his job doing so. We still don't have solid evidence that RC was at work the whole time, but neither is there evidence that he wasn't. And if LE could prove he left work after he supposedly arrived there and before his stated time for clocking out, I think they might have gone ahead and charged him. That would be a gigantic lie at the heart of the case. People do use work as an alibi, but I've seen a number of cases where LE cracked that open pretty fast. The cell phone pings and times alone could create a negative pattern; that is, if RC was repeatedly calling Misty as (they say) cell records show, LE would know where he was when he called. If he STOPPED calling, because he was there doing murder and burying bodies, there would be a time gap that would be hard for him to account for. I would think LE would question such a gap, and it would open a time frame to check the work alibi (so it's not a matter of verifying where RC was all night, but at the time they KNOW he wasn't calling from that geographic spot).
Tommy is a small time crook and drug abuser. The Croslins as a group have criminal and drug histories that have nothing to do with Ronald Cummings. Why would anyone set up Misty's brother if the plan was to make the disappearance look like a stranger abduction?
The one person we know was SUPPOSED to be with Haleigh was Misty. The case begins and ends with her, because the timeline of the event and the whereabouts of the child as we "know" them are all from her reports. RC might be involved--who knows?--but theories have to at least take into account "facts"
as we know them now and then can change as we learn something new. The timeline in this case has always bothered me, but the key to cracking that is getting Misty to tell the truth, which may be impossible. Or getting someone she was with to tell the truth. It may be that someone has talked but LE is holding out for the body, hence the Croslins in jail.
ETA: To bring this back to the topic of the thread, isn't it odd that LE was already at Tyler? If this dog nuisance case was the reason, then it suggests that a great deal of commotion was going on, with people in the home oblivious to the barking dog. What was going on? Who was there? Or were they somewhere else?
