On the practical side of things, how would she record the phone call? I assume that Jodi and Travis were using cell phones for the free long distance. Or at least whoever initiated the call placed it on their cell phone. What kind of recording device would you use? Your home answering machine (with a beep every 10 seconds?!) Will the cell phone itself do it? If so, I would assume that it would require one of these newer mega microSD cards to hold the conversation. The large capacity microSD cards (16 GB, 32 GB) were not available in 2007. Please don't tell me she was doing it on a cassette deck with a microphone?

I was listening to some commentary yesterday and I don't know which channel (I may have read it) That after she left the roommates came home. It was his work people that came to the door to say he had missed important things (Call etc) And the roommates went upstairs and went into his room to find him.

If I heard even remotely correct, that means they were in the house with TA body for how long?

If I dreamt that, I need to lay off the choc covered macadamia nuts at night..

How could they prove TA did not know?
The onus would be on the defense to prove they were acquired legally, if legality is necessary for it to be admitted.

I know that such evidence would not be admissible if it was obtained illegally by LE because it'd be considered fruit of the poisonous tree - the recording was illegal, so anything gained from the recording is inadmissible. I don't know if that same standard applies to civilians, though. Perhaps one of the attorneys can chime in.

Where was it that Travis told Jodi how insulted he was for invading his privacy? Was that an email to her? Would the Jury be privy to that?

Those words of Travis have had a big impact on me. I keep thinking how Jodi, not only killed him so brutally, but somehow managed to reveal even more private matters of Travis. You know what I mean if you are following the trial. Underneath her evil is more evil! Her plan seemed to include collecting private info on Travis. Jurors might start to wonder if taping a phone sex talk wasn't to blackmail him at a later date.

Introducing the recorded phone talk is further proof to me that Jodi was invading every aspect of Travis' life and his privacy to use against him. I want the jurors to hear what Travis said about his privacy in his own words to her.

I don't think she was going to blackmail him, but how do I know.

There is a woman who my husband calls a soul sucker that I guess is stalking me. I cut off all communication with her months ago. Not sexual thing. But she has no inner being.

She even buys clothes like mine. She told me so it was not a guess on my part.

Anyway, I think Jodi is a soul sucker of TA. They don't soul suck people to the same extent. I think there are intensities of it. Maybe it depends on how far you let them in and how nice you are to them?

But movie star stalkers have no relationship except in their own minds.

It sure did NOT help Darlie Routier.

*But she has been on death row for over 16 years now*

slightly off topic but worth watching (has a juror on the show too.. part 2 is in box to the right)

eta: dang: this is worth watching just for the juror's comments!!!!!! I hope there is someone like this on Travis' jury!

Good morning, everyone! I hope you got some good sleep! :)

good morning, Carol2 - thank you for providing that 4-step process you use to make a post without having to lose your reading spot, last night, gonna try it out!

I do not really have a cell phone now. Just a prepaid for emergencies. I had one for work. But that was recent addition because of the expense.

So I am truly ignorant. Weren't cell phones much more expensive back then including the costs for long distance?

Someone testified it was like she wanted to BE Travis. Chris Hughes?

Kinda O/T here but, is anyone else here living with a significant other who is on the opposite side of the argument? He called the CA case from the start and I lost.........with? lol

My hubby agrees with the prosecution. Can't imagine what chaos life would be if he didn't. j/k. I've been watching the trial since day one and he sits through some of it when he's home for lunch (we're several time zones away from AZ, so unless they've gone to recess, court plays during lunchtime for us. He's kinda laid back, doesn't "get" my passion about this case and ones like it, but he says from what he's seen in the trial, he agrees she's guilty.

Well, just because she planned out the murder in advance doesn't also automatically mean that she was calm and well organized during and after the murder. I'd bet most murderers are in a very heightened state after a murder. Perhaps exhilarated, shaky, mind racing, etc. That's why even "smart" murderers overlook evidence they leave behind that can lead to them being arrested. They are human (unfortunately), and subject to the effects of their physiological responses and emotions. They just lack a conscience. And that is what differentiates "them" from "us".

Interestingly, some serial killers who are "smart" enough to not get caught, eventually cave in to the need to boast about their crimes. To "one-up" LE and everyone else. Their own narcissism needs to be fed so strongly that they begin leaving clues or taunting messages about their crimes.

Most murderers never believe they will be caught, or held accountable.

"No jury is going to convict me... because I'm innocent... and you can mark my words on that one, no jury is going to convict me."

I accidently washed my Iphone and no, it did not survive.

Me too. Have carried a cell (and pager, for years) every day for 16+ years, and never once lost one, damaged or broke one, dropped in lake, toilet, etc.

Had an old cell I'd carried for 4 years, and hubby got me a new iPhone 5 for Christmas. 48 hours later I accidentally sent it thru the wash in the pocket of a pair of pants-- on the super hot "stain cycle" setting. Stupid, stupid me. Lost all the Christmas morning pics of the kids, too.

(But I have the best hubby in the world! He replaced it.)

But hubby still has it in a bowl of dry rice. It's his little experiment to see if he can ever get it to work again. Still hasn't tried to power it up yet. He's gonna try to recover the pics some day.

Katie, if you do not mind, you referenced your work with PTSD. Would you like to share what you do? There is such a need for that nowadays for so many issues!

I've wondered about this. There are certain things like Grand Central (which is now Google Voice) that existed back then. I know it was popular among buisnesspeople because it allowed you to have a phone number than rings all of your phones, and keeps voicemails in one spot, etc. I'm not sure if one of the features around then was call recording, but I know it exists in the current Google Voice system which is the re-branded Grand Central.

I can tell you that if you use the call recording feature, it plays a message telling all parties that the call is being recorded. Like I said, I'm not sure if this feature was available back then or not, though.

I see her as having threatened Travis for a long time. I think she made the recordings and collected all she did to hold over his head. I think she let him know that every Mormon in the land would know what he did if he was not nice to her and he might have strung her along in a way, to buy time to figure out how to appease the "monster" in her. Problem was, he couldn't find a way - so she held the trump card of exposure on him and he probably engaged in sexual behavior far longer than he wanted. To me, the photos in the shower look hauntingly sad.

I think jodi was an eraser killer of sorts. IMHO she had two plans the night she drove to his house.
1. He would agree to marry her, take her on the trip, etc or else
2. He would die and remain her trophy forever. In her mind, she took his virginity and gave up so much (even became Mormon for him) and if she couldn't have him - nobody would ever have him like she did - especially not another woman.

My gut says when she knew finally that plan one was not going to work - plan two became reality.

JMHO

I think she was insanely jealous that he was taking another woman to one of their one thousand places.

I need to tell you how much your "bear witness" post meant to me. I even discussed it with my dad yesterday. I very much appreciate it and have been thinking about those words ever since I read them. Thank you. :)

Was it this text you were thinking of -

Why don't you have him come and f--- you in the woods, I can only imagine you are so worried about me reading. You are paranoid because you have no respect for people's privacy and you dare insult me of all people. Someone you have should through actions you hate more than love denying me a right of human privacy countless times. You have a lot of freaking nerve. We are not all like you in that respect.
