The last question Juan asked her...she replies...SHE isn't defective.....he never said SHE was, he asked if her assessment was.

More proof this is personal for her....and her inability to recognize, that in fact, she was lacking much important information necessary to make an informed intelligent finding for domestic violence and finding Travis the abuser.

I am sorry to be such a pain, but can someone sum up what happened toda??/
I read some posts but I am too impatient to read them all - sounds like today
have some kick butts in it.

thanks

  • ALV testimony, and her cv contradicted, caught in more misspeaks.
  • A few more juror questions, JW redirect went very fast, and JM cross pegged ALV errors.
  • We lost Juror 11 due to illness
  • ALV doesn't want to come backs to court, tried to explain why Monday and Tuesday are bad for her schedule. Judge said this is a priority, you are under subpoena. I am giving you flexibility on Monday or Tuesday, you need to be here.
  • There is something else the court needs to address on Monday and Grace Wong from HLN will appear with an attorney, speculation on whether or not its about 'rock star' moment or ALV approach to Alexander family, perhaps she witnessed it?
I highly suggest watching it so you see the whole pattern, it paints a picture.

When the youtube videos are up, go back over the portion at the end where the judge is talking to ALV about the schedule. Right before that exchange the judge inquires whether someone is in the courtroom. To me it sounded like she (the judge) said "Grace Ho". Was there not a journalist named Grace Ho who covered the Scott Peterson case?

It does not sound like Alyce's return on Tuesday is for further testimony on the stand. It is for something that is scheduled, at a particular time. And per the judge, Alyce "knows what the issue is". I too believe this is going to be a further hearing about Alyce's complaint about being "cyber-lynched".

What I absolutely cannot understand is that Alyce seems to be totally unable to perceive WHY this huge backlash against her and her testimony has happened. She has admitted on the stand to her lack of education within the field of psychology. Has admitted to "errors" (ahem) on her CV. Has admitted errors regarding very basic facts in the case - such as thinking Travis made the recording of the sex tape. And today has admitted to "mis-speaking" about how many trials she has testified in, along with yesterday having testified that Jodi told her that she shot Travis while inside the closet.

Combine all of the above - and more - with her continuously beligerant attitude day after day along with her overall lack of professionalism throughout her testimony, and there is little wonder that the public would judge her harshly.

I think, as was predicted here on the first day of her cross examination, that Alyce is now very worried about her professional future. What she thinks she can possibly gain in terms of saving her professional credibility by whining to the judge about people on the internet dissing her is beyond me. If anything, she's only making it worse.

We do have the right as citizens to express our views. At this particular website we do not make personal attacks on witnesses. We stick to facts. We do not call people names. We do not threaten in any way - not even by urging boycotts. Other websites may not or do not follow the same rules.

Alyce needs to go home now.

I can understand her being surprised by the backlash. Every day "experts" all over America testify on behalf of guilty defendants and none of them end up trending on Twitter. Even in the context of the intense coverage of this case, it doesn't seem the reaction to Samuels was this venomous.
But, the claim of cyber bullying rings a little hallow when the victim is a self-professed technophobe without even an email account. It hasn't been difficult for her to avoid Twitter before, I don't know why it would be any different now.

Well I saw some and missed some so I have alot of reading to catch up on and watching hln to show some court proceedings.

....well...remember that horse that had to be put out to pasture?...
Yeah, well, you should probably just call the glue factory straight out....:floorlaugh:

Question:
As someone who didn't follow the Casey Anthony trial; did the defense team of CA have as many mistrial motions as does Jodi Arias' defense team. I am just asking because this is my first trial, and thus this seems like an exorbitant amount of mistrial motions.

tia...

This is a horribly written Motion for Mistrial. ITA that JA wrote this. Run on sentences, poor grammar, lack of punctuation, redundancy are a few of the highlights. Why Nurmi would sign this poorly written document is beyond me.

Ummmm, just speculating here, cause he wrote it?

BBM.

for the same reason she can't see how OFF her conclusions are in this case.

alyce doesn't get it. PERIOD.

NOTE: MOTION FOR MISTRIAL: JUROR MISCONDUCT
3/31/2013

NOPE. not a rumor. It was a real motion.

From the motion:

COMES NOW, Ms. Arias, by and through undersigned counsel to request that a mistrial be declared based on the prosecutorial misconduct that has infested these proceedings with a level of unfairness that cannot be cured by any other means. Ms. Arias bases this assertion on the fact that the circus like atmosphere inside the courtroom that to date has included counsel for the State yelling at witnesses, attacking witnesses on a personal level and throwing evidence. Not content with confining his misconduct to inside the courtroom counsel for the State, pursuant to his own admissions, chose to release evidence that was not coming into evidence at trial to the media and to pose for pictures with his so called fans on the courthouse steps has turned what is supposed to be a trial that comports with the rights due Ms. Arias pursuant to the 5th, 6th and 14th Amendments to the United States Constitution and Art. 2, §§ 4, 15, 23, and 24 of the Arizona Constitution into something that more closely resembles a modern day equivalent to the Salem Witch Trials which ended in 1693. This State of affairs has placed counsel for Ms. Arias in a position that they cannot fulfill the duties they owe Ms. Arias, pursuant Arizona Rules of Criminal Procedure, Rule 6.8. Counsel’s inability to fulfill these duties would thus result in Ms. Arias not having the benefit of the rights she is due pursuant to the 5th, 6th and 14th Amendments to the United States Constitution. Support for this Motion can be found in the attached Memorandum of Points and Authorities that is incorporated herein by reference.
MEMORANDUM OF POINTS AND AUTHORITIES
I. RELEVANT FACTS
OpeningstatementsinthismatterweremadeonJanuary2,20 13. Sincethattimethe State has thrown evidence and his pen, yelled at nearly every witness who took the stand in support of Ms. Arias and has hurled personal insults at defense counsel. In response to this behavior Ms. Arias has had to make several oral motions for mistrial that have beensummarily denied by this court. More recently Ms. Arias has had to make mistrial motions because the State has not confined its misconduct to inside the courtroom. Most prominent amongst this extra-curricular misconduct is his decision to pose for photographs with his “fans” outside the courthouse steps where jurors could potentially see him so doing. In further efforts to prove his case in the court of public opinion rather than a court of law on April 4, 2013, the State unapologetically admitted that it had released a plethora of damming evidence that would not otherwise come into trial to the media. Pending before this court is a motion for mistrial based on the former, Ms. Arias’ motion for mistrial based on the latter was summarily denied.
Note should also be made of the fact that the conduct described above has ramifications that effect the ability of Ms. Arias to present her defense as the public response to this unprofessional conduct has involved berating witnesses via e-mail, telephone and in various internet forums. Said action has not only caused personal distress to these witnesses but has made it difficult for them to provide effective testimony for Ms. Arias....

The bolded portion was about ALV.

The fact that ALV didn't answer the question yes or no right away, regarding if she ever had any physical contact with the defendant spoke VOLUMES!!!

Yea- I have been thinking on this- I agree he has been ill based on what KCL has said. But he couldn't hang a bit longer with the wknd ahead? Unless he was told he was + for the flu or something, it seems "odd". :moo:

I know of cancer patients who have not been excused from jury due to the anticipated length of the trial and no conflicts with their treatment schedule.

I would not assume anything light here on the juror's part and respect the judge for her discretion in this matter.

She wanted to lie....but thought better of it.

Aren't trial witnesses supposed to refrain from looking at social media and news about the case while they can be called to testify? I thought that's how the defense was able to have the Hughes' removed from coming to court, because they were possible witnesses?

reading reviews on amazon isn't looking at things about the case though. she's probably gotten messages on her website (i assume she has one) and maybe phone calls or something. i know she's gotten a lot of flack from many quarters.
