Nel has handed in 'the exhibits I was looking for'

Col D I am going to call this witness, so not confusing him with other cols. From forensic science dept. 20 years exp?

alrighty.. its on again.

Nel admits he was wrong he did INDEED table the evidence required

he was stationed at the victim idenetification section. it included blood spatter analysis. 20 years on the job.

Colonel Van Ness. testimony is in English..

qualifications. bsc degree honors in chemistry.. Rhodes University. ( that's in South AFrica)

It is the prosecution claim that Reeva slumped onto the toilet after the first bullet struck her right thigh, but where is the blood splatter to support this theory?

Hopefully we will hear this now

He has given evidence across SA, Nambibia,(sp) Swaziland.....

he was instructed by his commander, to attend the post mortem. he made observation of the wounds.. photos, measurements, an L scale. this relates to size..

he attends the crime scene, same day. 15th Feb..

he was posed several investigative questions by the detectives on the scene..

this included questions re blunt force trauma extensive staining, re cricket bat, bruising, bullet wounds, blood spatter. .

at the scene you marked out points of interest in your invest.. yes. marked with positsts AA to VV

He took the crime scene measurments on the 15th and did PM measurements on Reeva.

"The appearance of blunt force trauma on the deceased...as well as the bloodstained cricket bat..'

He was asked to give an opinion on whether blunt force trauma caused some of the blood spatter. This should be interesting

OH MY, they are not going to accuse him of that, are they?

He uses blue post it notes as they show up well. Writes numbers on them for ID. He did not mark each stain, but an area. So downstairs lounge is AA.

He could see no area of origin indicating blunt force trauma. Thinks it was 'an artefact from an aerial spurt, from above, the landing'

ETA My 'aerial spurt' could have been 'arterial', I think. But anyway, he meant a spurt from an artery which came from the stairs above, or landing.

First area examined - downstairs chairs/lounge area: no evidence of blunt force trauma, most likely arterial spurting.

LOL - Mi'Lady is questioning about a noise outside and Nel irritatedly explains it's a noise outside

Judge halts proceedings because noise coming from outside....is AnneMarie back?

So the blood drops on the sofa in the downstairs lounge came from an "arterial spurt" and not from blunt force trauma.

referring now to Album QQ first photo. marked aa.. he identifies his own marking notes, jhis signature marking notes.. .

staining showing in this area.. . ..

he wants to point out. he didn't EACH stain, he marks the area to begin with.

was the impact staining?? blunt force trauma/?? etc..

he concluded it was an aerial spurt from the landing.. * thisis in the lunge area. _

the open area at the landing. makes it accessible to an aerial spurt to the lounge

he has marked ALL the blood stains in the house.

distinctive staining factors against the wall.. one follows the markings. .there is a commonality to these stains.. consistent with aerterial spurting..

a combination of drip, contact drip trail and arterial spurt.

Walls, stairs and railing: contact staining and passive drip staining and arterial staining

Contact staining, drip trail and arterial spurt on handrail/stairs and bottom of stairs.
