Walk backwards? Is Nel gonna spring something?

Talking about pulling teeth.

Nel's referring to the DSM 5. I want to come back to running. When you asked OP why he mention "ran", he demonstrated something to you.
Derwent: That's correct.

Walking backwards Holy smokes, we just saw OP do that in the YT video! Derman claims he has never seen OP running on his stumps or walk backwards. We saw OP run in the YT video. Come on. Spring it!

Derman says not impossible for #OscarPistorius to walk backwards.
3:31 AM - 7 Jul 2014

Barry Bateman ‏@barrybateman #OscarTrial Nel asking about the accused running. He might refer to the video broadcast this weekend. BB

D: I'm not sure if he had both hands against the wall when he was running...I can't recall.

N asks if it's correct that D doesn't know if OP can run without his hand against wall or not and D finallly concedes: 'Yes. I do not know.'

Bit finicky that. Aren't "I cannot be sure" and "I don't know" sorta de same ting!

Nel: Did you see any other demo of the accused running? WD: I saw him moving on stumps when we were travelling.

#OscarTrial Derman can’t say whether Pistorius can run

Well, I hope they do let the video in because then the judge can see exactly what OP can and cannot do on his stumps and what his balance is like.

ETA: I have not seen the video but would like to

#OscarTrial Derman: says he can’t remember whether the accused pretended to hold a gun in his right hand in the demo. BB

N: In demonstration, the gun must have been in his right hand?

D: Yes....no, I can't remember if there was actually a gun or not...

(hang on, wasn't the demo in court? Are guns allowed in SA courts?)

Oh dear Professor! IMO he's seen the video and is trying everything to 'not remember' what he actually saw in it that can be brought in to refute what he says.

Feel the tension in the Court Room!

Derman is like many older white male American docs I've met, worked with, been treated by, taught, etc. VERY intelligent, HUGE unchecked egos, and once they get their MD degrees think it automatically qualifies them as experts to do anything and EVERYTHING they feel like doing - without ANY additional training - from being university presidents, to lawyers, to piloting jet planes, and on and on and on. They REALLY do. It's amazing. Their hubris knows no bounds. They are "legends in their own minds."

IMHO, when this guy came to court he was just SALIVATING to become an expert witness, not just in this case but here-after. It would be another "feather in his cap" and would add to yet another page of his 110-page CV. He just waltzed in there believing that he knew EXACTLY what the court needed to hear and HE was the guy who was going to tell them - to set them all straight.

I can't stand this guy.

Nel asks if the gun must have been in OP's right hand. WD confirms but says when doing the demo, he can't remember if there was a gun or his hand was held out.
