TURKEY - George Smith, 26, missing from cruise ship, July 2005

I don't think that one guy could have thrown George over. The balcony railing is pretty high. George was over six feet tall and looked about 200 lbs. It would take a couple of guys to heave him over the railing and then throw him over. The eye witnesses all said they saw three men.

But that's just my opinion.

I don't think that one person would have had any trouble at all pushing George over the railing. It isn't that high, probably 4ft high. I have been on many ship balcony's and have never had any problem leaning over the railing. All he would had to have done is get him to the railing, maybe he was even still on his feet but disoriented, get his upper body leaning over(gravity is going to be working here too) grab him by the feet and over he goes. I would say that the awning was slanted. It would not be flat because water would stand on it. I am sure that it was slick(from the ocean spray). Poor George probably slid right into the ocean.

Yep, and my money is currently on the casino manager doing the job.

off the wall opinion:

i think they were slipped a drug "ecstasy" with alcohol.. or they took it knowingly...
dutch ship and that drug is 90 percent manufactured in holland legally.
i think the casino manager had his way with the wife while others ransacked the room and did in george. he tried to over come the drug and do somthing about his intruder...
i think she found out about george and left the ship on concern for her own life...
a drug can effect your memory.
..the next morning she had awaken in the casino managers room not knowing how she got there.
he told her thank you very much "butthead" and she ran from the room in a state of confusion. she finds their ransaked room, the blood.she sees her position and now feels she was a cheating wife and looks involved, she slept with the casino manager her husband is dead and she is still suffering from a drug induced confusion and memory loss.
who will she tell ? some other ship members who may very well be corrupt? or how about the turkish police who she knows could be trouble..
so she decides she better keep her mouth shut. she leaves..
she has told the f.b.i. and they have told her to keep quiet..
so far she has.:behindbar

Well surely with this much blood they must know what cut the guy if it was a suicide. I cant imagine him taking the weapon overboard with him. He is clearly dead. That part I dont believe to be a mystery.

I don't know if this has been mentioned, and I apologize in advanced if it was, but I heard that there was a bloody palm print on the side of the boat. Like someone (George I would assume) was trying to hold on. Which would mean he was still alive when he went into the water.

Federal agents investigating the disappearance of a U.S. citizen from his Mediterranean honeymoon cruise have sent a letter to passengers and crew members seeking any information they may have.

The FBI has obtained numerous records from Royal Caribbean Cruises and has interviewed passengers, crew members and other potential witnesses, the letter states.

Some of those interviewed have come forward with "relevant useful and detailed information," according to the letter.

"In an effort to conduct as thorough an investigation as possible, the FBI intends to identify and interview persons who may have information regarding Mr. Smith's disappearance," the letter states.

An FBI spokeswoman contacted Monday confirmed the letter was sent out recently but declined to discuss the case further.

Wife cleared in husband's disappearance:

Investigators in the case of missing honeymooner George Smith IV broke new ground in their search for answers. According to NBC News sources, focus shifted from Smith’s wife Jennifer Hagel, to three drunken young men who last saw him alive.

Generally met with silence from those close to the case, investigators previously concentrated on Hagel.

“She has been cleared. She is not the focus of the investigation,” says former Connecticut prosecutor and MSNBC analyst Susan Filan. Filan says a California teen and two Russians who live in New York may provide clues.

I image they have confirmed by DNA that this is George's blood?

Haven't heard anything yet. And I've looked for stories on this case and haven't come across anything about the blood on the boat.

Gosh, I would sure love to know what happened to the Groom.. I haven't heard anything about this case in such a long time. I hope some info comes out soon, it can't be another unsolved crime, can it? Lets hope not! Why hasn't any family members spoken out, I know they were asked not too. But, wouldn't they want to get this crime out there to the public, and hopefully get some answers.

I have also been wondering why we have not heard more.
I think that one reason why we have not heard much from the family is, the truth about what went on that night with The Bride and The Groom is not pretty.
It does not sound like they behaved like happy newly weds.
I am not saying that The Bride is responsible for what happened, I have no idea.
What I am saying is the whole scenerio is probably very embarassing for her.

.....I think that you are right. I've been thinking the same thing.

I really wish we heard more about this case. There is just nothing being said.

If the Groom was an animal, his new bride would have no choice than to gently push him overboard

It is the only thing that makese sense.

On dateline they are suppose to have a article on this case. I hope it is something new, that we do not know. I am dying to hear something good, I hope they deliver. So try to watch, if you are interested. I know I am.
On the west coast, it comes on at 8pm..
