Yeah, it seems NH case is fading so they are running with this one now.
I forgot to watch it! Darn it. Did anyone watch Greta? If so let me know what was said. Thanks

The four passengers who escorted George Allen Smith IV back to his cabin on the night he disappeared from his honeymoon cruise are the subjects of an FBI investigation for alleged rape, according to a Royal Caribbean spokesman. In a press conference on Tuesday, Capt. Bill Wright, senior vice president of Fleet Operations, said that the sexual assault reportedly took place after Smith vanished and his wife had returned home. The young men accused of the crime were "dismissed from the ship in Naples, Italy," according to Wright. The FBI is conducting an ongoing investigation.
This disclosure came after both the Smith family and Royal Caribbean cruise line raised the stakes in a public relations battle this week. While the Smith family hired forensic expert Dr. Henry Lee to investigate the crime, Royal Caribbean held a press conference to refute the "multiple misstatements" that have circulated about its handling of the Smith case. In a lengthy interview with the Greenwich Citizen, Wright expounded on "the myths and false statements," and denied allegations by Brett Rivkind, the Smith family's lawyer, that the cruise line covered up evidence of foul play to protect its public image.

How did a honeymooner go missing at sea?

It was shaping up to be a perfect honeymoon for George Smith and Jennifer Hagel Smith. Touring the Mediterranean aboard a Royal Caribbean cruise ship last summer, the couple, both 26, were enthralled by the luxurious casino in Monte Carlo and the shimmering Aegean Sea. On the Greek island of Mykonos on July 4—six days into their journey—George happened to meet the actress Tara Reid, with whom he giddily took a photo. But the Smiths' idyllic trip soon took a disastrous turn. Later that night on the ship, George somehow went overboard.

Expert sees 50-50 chance of solving case of missing passenger

Forensic expert Henry Lee on Sunday gave himself only a 50 percent chance of figuring out what happened to a Greenwich man who vanished from his honeymoon cruise in the Mediterranean Sea last summer.

"I would say 50-50," Lee said on "Face the State" on WFSB-TV. "It all depends on how much evidence they have so far collected and preserved."

Lee said he will go on board the ship Jan. 23 to conduct his examination into the case involving George Allen Smith IV of Greenwich who disappeared July 5. Royal Caribbean officials have limited his time aboard to two hours, he said.

Lee, who has testified in numerous high-profile cases, including the trials of O.J. Simpson, William Kennedy Smith and Kennedy cousin Michael Skakel, was hired by Smith's bride, Jennifer Hagel-Smith. He said he initially was reluctant to take up the case.

With between 600 and 700 cases, he said his immediate response was, "I'm too busy to handle that."

But because Smith has been missing for six months, "the family needs some answers, which I feel pretty moved by their request," Lee said.

He has already eliminated one possible cause of death.

Because Smith's body was not found, "we can safely eliminate a natural cause," Lee said.

Heads up today for Oprah's show (I'm pretty sure it's today). She's having both Jennifer and the CEO of Royal Caribbean on - together.

Thx for the heads up. I'm leaving work early today anyway so now I can set my VCR.

I'm watching Oprah now. I'm convinced now that Jennifer was drugged. I always thought it was a possiblity, but now I'm convinced of it. Anyone else watching this?

Sounds good - I'm on pacific so got a couple more hours!

yea she had to have been drugged i mean they found her basically passed out in the hall, thats crazy..

you know looking at jennifer she is a very pretty girl and with all this talk about amy bradley and natalie hollaway and possibly the connection with them in the sex slave industry maybe jennifer was a target and they had to get away with her hubby to get her and use her in that???

I think it's possible she was the target. Or it was a robbery gone bad. I don't think we'll ever know.

Can you tell us more about the show MrsMush? When I saw her in an interview she seemed rather unemotional, which surprised me - maybe just her personality, though. Also, she was saying she couldn't answer many questions asked of her so maybe she just tried to be detached. Anyway, I would love to hear more about the show.

Eve

Eve,

She was saying she couldn't give many details because she doesn't remember anything. That's what leads me to believe that she was drugged. She hired Henry Lee to do forensic testing. I think Rita Cosby said he was going to be on her show on Monday. Also, there was another couple on Oprah that became friends with Jen and George during the cruise. She saw Jen at 2:30 that night and stated that she was not drunk at all. So 2:30 she's not drunk and 4:30 she passed out in the hall?? Sorry I'm not buying it. There was something slipped in her drink.

Robin,

Yes, I believe she was taken to a hospital in Turkey. Not sure if the results were released, but I doubt it.

The couple also said they saw George around 2:30 and he wasn't drunk either, but if I didn't misunderstand, didn't his wife say he also had to be helped back to the cabin by those guys around 4:00? Sounds like maybe he was drugged, too before being escorted back to his cabin. I personally think they were looking for money and he wasn't drugged enough to pass out. When he realized what they were up to, he probably tried to fight, thus causing someone to throw him over the railing outside. This is JMO, only.

I watched the late-night rerun of Oprah's show last night and saw this interview. Although I usually don't like Oprah's show, I thought that she and her friend asked the tough questions of Jennifer Smith, and that they did a good job.

I thought it was interesting that neither Jennifer nor Oprah mentioned a blackout as a possibility of not remembering anything. Even if someone doesn't usually drink a lot, if they over-do it, they can have a blackout, and the rest of the evening is not remembered, or remembered in blurry patches. I had read that they started drinking Absinthe, which is very potent, but Jennifer didn't mention it last night, so maybe that was a rumor.

Here's what I don't understand, and maybe I missed an important part of the story... When the ship was cleared after the forensics were taken, how could they set sail again, with the possibility that there were murderers on board? Wouldn't the passengers and crew be worried about being crime victims themselves?

This sounds like the most plausible theory I've heard yet.

Tranaice,

I think your theory is extremely possible. I think the Russians they kicked off the ship that are from Brooklyn are very suspicious. I'm thinking they have something to do with this, although I have no proof, it's just a feeling I have.

That's who I suspect, too. I just wish they could get this solved for all the families involved. It has to be so hard for them. :(
