Also, interesting she skypes with her husband one day and sons the next. That would make it seem like they weren't at the same place or perhaps he was working. Let's not forget there's a 7 hour time difference between IST and NYC.

Perhaps, they were sharing the laptop/iPad. Since her kids were staying with parents.

Yet so frequent communications suggest two things.

1) She wasn't comfortable being in a foreign land, communicating w/ family made her feel secure.

2) She was afraid of not being able to see them again. That only holds if she was involved in something illegal.

If she was professing herself as single, I feel sorry for her husband. He seems like a hard-working concerned guy who is now charged with raising two children.

I remember reading that the neighbors (in Istanbul) said that she took many pictures there when she had first arrived and made small talk with them. Supposedly, she told them she was single.

Of course, I have no idea if that is true.

It was a inside joke because I didn't know how to translate.

It is a generalization/preconception saying that all Taylans have dark hair and they are all jerks.

I translated "yavsak" as jerk but I don't know if there is a better translation.

My dictionary says: http://tureng.com/search/yavşak

It is also true for the Tarkans I know.

Who knows what their relationship history was, and who was the angel and who was the devil overall...

One thing I have learned in this case is assume nothing and feel sorry for all involved (except whoever the perp turns out to be).

No one won here.

Incorrect. In Germany women are actually not allowed to leave the house. If they try, the penalty is automatic stoning.

Are you talking about the country Germany? Their women are not allowed to leave the house or they will be stoned?:what:

That's interesting. Can you provide a news source for that?

It was a joke. We were being silly making jokes about stereotypes people have about other countries. Women have all the modern liberties under the law in both Germany and Turkey.

Sorry, it's all my fault. And Munich had so politely responded.

I had a German friend when studying in the UK, and there was this other guy called Eric. I thought he was Scandinavian. It was only 4 months later that I learned Eric was German, because when I was around they never said a single word in German, always spoke in English with each other. They can be very polite.

He was called a "manwhore" in print? Link please? :floorlaugh:

Sorry, they took the link down because it was said by a German woman who wasn't wearing a niqab on camera. Now, if you excuse me, I have to find my mukluks and feathered headdress so I can go get dinner. There are some loose beads I have to fix.

I am trying to find it but it might take some time. It was published in the Turkish media when the police went to the apartment she had rented. The paper said police talked to various neighbors.

Again, I don't know how true it is.

I believe there is a link in the first thread. I could be wrong. I will keep trying.

Any news from overnight from Turkish press? Seems like there is no new info today...

They sure can... but they can also be rude as heck, if not a bit cold. Visiting a German grocery can be a throwing elbows experience. Not for the faint of heart and especially if a holiday is coming up when all stores will be closed.

;) I'm not German, I've just lived here long enough to pass as such.

When the top news story in the Turkish press is a snowstorm in New York City, well. . .you get the drift...

very slow news day.

Buckle up, it could be a long ride until we get more good info.

What is so amusing about this case?

I told you all. If this is a random act of violence, it'll stay open forever. Because if the perp is a druggie, he may well fall into a pit in a construction site, and no one will be looking for him.

Sorry for quoting myself. I don't understand why is it I always think of something else, immediately after pressing the "submit" key.

Anyway, it was at the same time that the media wrote about the police finding Sarai's passport in the apartment, citing that according to the passport she spent one day in Amsterdam and left the next morning for Munich where she spent three days.

I am not agreeing or disagreeing with it. In fact, I am confused.

What is so amusing about this case?

Nothing is amusing about what happened.

But we've been wrestling with grim details and frustration at conflicting and contradictory information for days, and getting to know one another in the process.

We get a little giddy sometimes, but no disrespect is intended.
